Yes, because they won't be PVP rewards anymore, they will be PVE rewards.
That's... the point of what I said.
God forbid, pvp-players could get anything for themself... oh the agony!
Gee, it's a good thing I never called FOMO a mental disorder, but a manipulative business practice. Speak to my argument, not what you wish my argument was for your convenience.
Yes I am aware of that! Did you know that PVP only got popular after they started punishing players for not playing PVP nearly as often with rewards that can never be obtained again?
The difference is those were one time events, usually related to legacy players or specific events like Shantotto's Burgeoning Dread or even the FF15 crossover.
FFXIV still succeeds despite those now being gone. PVP only "succeeds" because it's exploitative.
But yes, go off on how despite YoshiP saying he wants players to feel like they can take breaks, it's okay to simultaneously punish them for doing so.
Funny thing that. The Feast is competitive. I have CONSTANTLY said through this topic that competitive rewards should be reserved for the competitive. I'm fine with a limited number of pieces of gear/rewards going to those that earn it as a matter of effort. It's why I don't complain about the rewards for getting into crystal CC rank.
Series Malmstones are by no means competitive and are derived solely from your play time in PVP modes. It's made to be accessible to everyone, but really isn't when it just pressures people into playing it an unreasonable amount of time. I can and have completed a HW relic faster than the time it takes to go through 25 ranks of the Series Malmstone. It's miserable.
If you take a 4 month break, you will miss some things.
If you are 4 month inactive in your fc its also likely you will get booted.
But okey Karenade, we got it. You deserve that glam, without any work. We will give it to you. Please wait till we get the manager.
:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
NEver called it a disorder, it is a behavioral trend used in buisness practices however
same was behavior around the concept of "skinner boxes" is used
I have again and again advocated of useing a PVP Currency to use for those that missed the initial run , it also gives a good use of collars for newer players, still grindy, still takes time to do, just not time locked.
note: ive maxed every series, but i have care to think about others that arnt myself
It's not even that hard to hit rank 25. If you do a single frontline roulette every day you will hit 25 with time to spare. You don't even need to grind at all. This is how I got the last few rank 25 rewards.
I'm still sitting here wondering what the fate of the rotated sets is going to be. Nothing official has been said yet on it and I'm just hoping they are either going to cycle them back in as rank 15 filler, move them to wolfmarks, or rotate them back in as rank 25 rewards again (which seems kind of lame since it would kill most peoples interest). Maybe they just make the parts crystal points later?
The only thing I don't want is more Hellhound armor sets where no one else can get the armor after rotation. I don't even think people know what the heck hellhound armor is because even when it was available, so few people actually got the armor it might as well never have existed. Not to mention its been YEARS now. It was special back in what? 2015? I don't even remember anymore.
You mean the PvP Ranks/Season thing? If it's not a CC specific thing, the general PvP Season rewards you can get from Frontlines.
...you also get stunlocked 100% -> KO all the time, mind you, but as long as you just relax and don't take it seriously, it may not be as terrible. I don't do CC at all, I just do Frontlines for PvP (and finally got to do a Rival Wings the last time it was up for...something, Moogle Tomes or whatever it was that people qued for it - maybe it was just when the relrelease was new; RW needs a Daily Roulette for it, imo)
But yeah, try Frontlines. Don't worry about wins or losses (obviously TRY to win because you get more Season xp, but don't sweat it if you don't) and it's not a bad way to grind it all out. Do one a day with the Roulette and you should comfortably be able to get to 25 before the patch/season is over, or be close enough a few "grind/farming" runs on a Saturday or something can help you finish it off.
EDIT:
Oh, FOMO's real, it's just not directly FOMO. If you're talking a disorder, it's more related to risk aversion. Not a disorder, per se, but something well known in behavioral sciences. Basically, by artificially limiting supply - either in number, time available, or both - it's possible to trigger an extreme risk aversion in people that they'll never be able to get a thing if they don't now (that is, the risk is "not being able to later"), and so it triggers that strong impulse.
People with various impulses related to addictive personality disorders or obsessive compulsive disorders or the like (which most people have something from these types of categories in at least some amounts) often find it difficult to resist, or experience distress if they miss out.
I'm not saying people should be handed stuff for free or that these are debilitating or anything like that. But yes, the concepts are real as are the mental associations. /shrug The reason businesses use it so much is because it REALLY works. So it is real. Note that what determines if a thing is real or not is not an official recognition. Many very real things were not officially recognized until well after they were known to be real. Anyway, I won't bother saying anything else on it other than that.
just got the coffer a few days ago.
From daily frontlines. and I took a few weeks break.
The problem is that, for anyone who has already got the armour, they don't need s second copy and since it cannot be traded away, it just wastes a slot for a reward. It would be better to stick it in the trophy shop, most people who do PvP are swimming in the currency anyway.
Well after reading this thread...
This would be even more unfair to those players who afk in limsa.
They need this armor and put in just as much effort as people pvping. I'm not sure what they're doing since they barley participate in any aspect of the game but they really deserve the armor.
Just don't feed any ego's and semi afk it like everyone else.
Yay that makes me a special little Lala! I got pets, from the IDontPetLalas Elezen!
I'm royaltie now.
That makes my takes on this topic more important, then i'm royaltie. So that means Karenade can finally be silenced.
Guards! Arrest the Cat-Horn!
I liked when the mount was at 25.
Going for the glamour set was mildly disappointing as I didn't like the set to begin with - so it just occupies space in the dresser, but adding another mount is always a plus.
good lord this.
i had the same feeling when people were whining about the roulette bonus(es) on the forums, or lack thereof if you queue directly for something. the bonus is there to make up for the fact you may get a dungeon/trial/raid you don't like. it's a BONUS. it's a REWARD for HELPING OTHERS. the only acceptable time to be angry about it is when you notice someone cheesing to get lota.
goddamn gacha garbage has brain damaged people into the belief that they need fireworks and fanfare just for logging in once a day i swear.
It's funny that you're talking about how gacha garbage has "brain damaged" people when-
Battle passes are "gacha garbage" too.
No one is saying that you shouldn't have to play PVP to get PVP rewards. You just shouldn't be coerced into playing over 100 games of PVP in a short period of time on threat of missing out on those PVP rewards forever. Your argument has conflated arguments from people who don't like Roulette Bonuses (literally who is arguing like this in here?) to people who just don't want to be forced to play a game mode they don't like over 100 times in quick succession on threat of missing out on unique items forever.
100 games of PVP is 100 games of PVP, regardless of what span of time you actually decide to play those games of PVP over. The effort and time put into those 100 games don't change because you played a game or two every week, and not everyday.
I just don't understand. You have 4 months to get your glamour, I honestly just cant fathom how reaching rank 25 is this god awful chore
Edit: I mean really it's crazy to me, all it sounds like is just a case of "I want it now" and not be asked to do the bare minimum amount of pvp to get the pvp glamour
how is this dude still crying about having to do 100 pvp games
People keep saying this, but it's honestly irrelevant. Per YoshiP, you know, the guy who directs the game, players should feel free to take breaks. If he is true to that, he should remove the series malmstone system and redirect it to high cost wolf marks or collars.
Battle passes are effectively a take on login trackers and bonuses, something very commonly seen in even the oldest Korean MMO's that hard-sold gacha along with it, a marketing practice to threaten you with FOMO if you didn't play LITERALLY every day.
Also going to clarify that I never said it was "gacha" specifically, but intrinsically tied with with gacha such that even now it's still used in gacha games such as Genshin Impact.
