No it does not say right after E3 ends,It says soon. We all know that "soon" for Square Enix could mean months from now, like August.

I love the game at its actual state and I really dont think they are going to make things worse. So I am absolutely looking forward for 2.0. It doesnt matter if we get less information at this time as long as we dont get a delay of 2.0 and PS3 release.
Pretty lame letter. I don't care about the CGI trailer not bring shown at E3. I just thought the letter really didn't have much to it
Why is everyone so convinced the trailer was CG? Square have never confirmed this, just because they did that in the past does not mean they will again.
I agree, Starlord. The game is changing into something really awesome, in my opinion. What's the matter if we wait a little bit more for info anyway? We are still playing it and we know 2.0 won't come before the last quarter. I wish I could play Arcanis/Geomancer already (if they make it like that!), but I'll be happy as a THM/BLM for now =D
Sad to say, my interest is starting to waver. I hope whatever is revealed after E3 is enough to get me excited.
Well I could argue that some may have paid just to get the legacy status :D
It doesn't make sense to smile when you are disappointed ..
I don't see what harm it has on voicing concerns, opinions and disappointment, what's its to you anyway ?
I think it is fair for people to be concerned and frustrated. It is easy to say 2.0 is going to be amazing, it just words. If Square would just give us something some evidence of the quality of 2.0, attitudes in these forums might change and it would be a more positive place but instead they give us nothing they delay things and disappoint us which of course is only going to lead to more concern and negativity. Some of us have invested a lot into this game is not unreasonable to expect a little something back.
God forbid we voice any negative opinion over something we don't care for. No, if you don't like it, you can't change it, you have to leave.
I just feel like this is a heavy misstep on their part, and the community is far too soft on Square. This game is going to end up like crap if we just nod our heads and smile with every mistake they make.
This whole thing has been an opportunity for a game community to help reshape the game into something people will want to play. We cannot play the overly supporting mother here, we have to be strict. We are the customers, they want our money, let them know what it takes to get our money.
Just good isn't enough to get people back into this game. You know it, I know it, and I hope to God Square knows it.
To be fair it's only repetitive due to the current endgame content. I absolutely loved leveing my thau up after the 1.20 changes, all of the spells were viable and useful. It felt like I was in control of the fights and that my job was equipped to handle itself. I'll grant you that current endgame content is lightning combo spam and currently for alot of endgame fights it actually seems more useful to thau than use blm (raise for unlucky eruptionees, sentinel and rampart for unavoidable AF moves etc).
I'll also give you that ice spells need to combo or something and other than freeze and timed flare stack, ancient magic is kind of a joke. That said rather than just simply buffing those skills I think they should maybe take another look at thau and blm, that doesn't mean nerf hammer either. As it stands, lightning combo is just the bane of damn near anything and simply adding anti lightning enemies isn't the answer either.
MP is kinda the justification for insane damage potential with the safety of range but when things die in under 5 minutes that's not really much of a drawback especially with bard's ballad. I'd sooner see a thau/blm model with more skill involved where people have to pace their damage more and think about the combos they're using more. I would not want to see a return to magic where it's the same attack in different flavours though but that's a personal opinion and it's more from getting bored of that in previous ff games.
Anyways sorry to ramble on about thau/blm~
It wouldn't make sense to constantly negative people or people who are constantly 'disappointed'. "Just smile for the good things" means life goes on and if you're disappointed it's fine to voice your concerns but life goes on in the end to dwell over something.
Funnily enough, it's no one's concerns but your own until people who are disappointed start calling those who got over it or didn't let it bother them to the point of QQing white knights and fanboys.
Thank you Elexia, Just want everyone to be happy.. thats all... the game we all want to succeed and make it the best MMO ever. Its okay to voice your Opinion, but the Consistent Negative remarks, and even going as far as "Yep, this game is going to fail now" isn't going to make it all better. I know I been a Nag Yesterday and today, and I'm deeply sorry for it.. but being as it may that were so close to the Beta Launch of 2.0. I just don't see the excitement in alot of people on these forums.
So I try to put in some "Positive Reinforcement" in, that the letter can be taken in several different ways ( except we know that there's no FFXIV 2.0 Trailer). However, that doesn't mean E3 is not going to be there show some stuff, get the word out and have them look forward to August when they flood the gates with Info.
I love the Forums, and I love all of you as Friends, I just want us to be one big happy family, and not going at each others throat all the time. I know FFXIV back in 2010 left a sour taste in our mouths, but ever since Yoshi-P took over it has been nothing but Stellar, sure he made a few mistakes here and there, Were all human.
Anyways, I been rambling on enough. I love you all and God bless!
Starlord Ravine
I have a feeling that next week's letter from the producer is going to announce that the previous poll supported adding an arcanist class, red mage job, and viera race (final name to be determined). E3 is here now, and to kick off the public unveiling of 2.0, here is some artwork for each of these. We might even get an actual in-game render for arcanist and red mage.
All of that would be great info, but if they really do plan on hiding 2.0 for another two plus months, it would hardly make up for it. Again, I said "if" they plan on hiding 2.0. We don't really know what they plan to show at E3. The fact that they're keeping the trailer a secret and they aren't sending the 2.0 site live until sometime after E3 doesn't bode well, however.
I fully expect interviews with new information (and good information at that), but I think it's time that we actually see 2.0. We've heard a lot about it, but seeing is believing.
Re The (lack of) E3 trailer:
This is par for the course. Not sure why anyone would be surprised, or why this is even worth 26 pages of discussion.
I'll smile when Black Mage/Thaumaturge is more than thunder combo on bosses, and garbage men for trash mobs. Atleast fire line has some use on trash mobs I guess, too bad just about anyone else can do it too since it's not an exclusive combo, yet I can't have Stonera or Aerora... and fire is worthless on 99.9% of bosses.
Ice is so god damn useless, I don't even use it when I solo, not even if the mob is a hit from death.
All they needed to do was just up the up the spells damage and lower mobs resistance and add the combos before they did that stupid, retarded, unbelievably dumb 15 abiltiy limit. Yes, they need to move abilities to make the role of jobs more define when they came out. They just should have moved all the elemental spells over to black mage
No, they had to split the... it was never a wheel, more like to parallel lines of elements. Now they made it a star with splitting it between Blm/thm and whm/cjn.
Their newest content has absolutely no value to me because of the materia sysem. Their class only gear is dumb, it should be class/job only. Why would I want 2 sets one for blm and one for thm both double melded, when I could just have one for both with only a slightly different stat difference.
Why should I smile when there isn't even a comment on that this will be different in 2.0, versus the other less important things get comments saying 2.0. I hate the carrot on the stick tatic, but for improvements on Disciple of magic there doesn't seem to be anything.
Some people like to play magic classes only, I would be one of them. Yet we only have two, and Yoshi-P said the next classes added would be more disciple of Magic, then turns around and says the next player poll will decide the next class released... 75% of players are melee fights. That's between: Tank, Melee, Healer, Ranged, Spellcaster. The first poll showed most players were melee, so when you have a melee job in the list of new classes what do you thinki 75% is gonna go for?
This thread is now a Jinrya bitching about mages thread... Again.
How about if we ask please! Would you stop then? At least leapfrog it? A post about Thunder combo, a post with nothing about mages whatsoever, another post about mages sucking. Variety is the spice of life my friend.
I hope the next producer's letter says "class: Arcanist, job: RDM, weapon: Mace. A front line spellcaster that can AoE DoTs and Debuffs. Then you can start being all BLM who?
Re-read this:
"Well, the public release of new info regarding version 2.0 is set to kickoff with this year’s E3 in Los Angeles. We also plan to unveil a brand new promotion site for version 2.0 soon after E3 ends."
FFXIV will be unveiled @ E3 from the way I read this, and I bet, that the next letter released prolly right before E3 or during it, will have a big surprise.
This has been pointed out a thousand times, but if you keep on reading (and also take a look at the current updated roadmap) you will see how they specify that marketing for 2.0 will commence in August and not at E3, which is part of the confusion some of us were hoping a team member could clear up (but I guess not today).
They will Show new Info @ E3, It just won't be the Downpour of info.. their Main attack is at Gamescon and Penny Arcade. But they will show us new Info @ E3 it just won't be a flood of it, and they only choose what they want to show. That's how I read it.
Edit: We know it could mean "anything" Karma exists, idn about you, but I'm going to stay optimistic but Positive about it. =) Also, I'm 99% positive that the site will be Launched on or right after E3. Their Track record on getting websites up for their games are always "Right after" or " on" E3 are always on time.
Well, that is NOT what is being reported by other sites:
http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/05...-e3-after-all/
Final Fantasy XIV 2.0's public debut is still scheduled for E3, however. The trailer, along with the info-flood, is slated to be revealed this August. Version 2.0 will be a relaunch of the title alongside the PlayStation 3 release. It will feature overhauled graphics, server architecture, multiple in-game improvements, and additional racial/gender choices.
Yes, but "public debut" could be anything. It could be "Hey this exists, look forward to lots of info soon!" or it could be actual new info. All I'm saying is I would like to know what the case is so we can see if we should actually look forward to E3 or go ahead and wait for the website coming "soon after".
I'll tell you what, it seems that this has ALOT of people talking and anticipating/curious about 2.0 already its seems lol. I think this marketing tactic might work!
I would be even more upset if they added a debuff/dot class. The current enfeeble system makes debuffs useless after the first cast, especially on groups of mobs higher than you. They are absolutely worthless on boss mobs. They don't stick long enough even on the first cast, and what happens after the first cast it becomes more resistant.
This along with spell effectiveness need to be changed as well.
Hes right though with the Dlvl crap, bosses are gonna resist with little effort, and normal mobs will just die to fast for the debuffs to even matter.
But atleast Rdm will be able to run up and hit the mobs unlike 11 thats what im excited about. And will Rdm be the jack of all trades like its suppose to be? Having decent White and Black magic but not the highest teirs. or because of the split magics between thm and Cnj will it get nothing?
