I'm feeling like their expectation was that more people would be willing to run the duels for the notes that are otherwise rare drops.
Perhaps their seeming indifference towards the Flare Star cheesing is their way of being merciful...?

Just guessing, but the 5.57 updates for Bozja seem to be simple fixes they could do quickly. Scaling fixes and adding a alternative for note are probably a bit more complex to implement so soon in response to feedback. Hopefully we'll see some kind of note exchange in 5.58 (if not earlier).
Really glad they buffed the Timeworn step and the change to the Dyunbu notes makes it feel like they are at least aware of the problem.
See, there's only really a 'problem' if you assume that they wanted the bike mount to be easier to get; but it's not. It's intended to be a timesink grind to keep people in the Save the Queen grind for longer in the months moving up to Endwalker. The grind is only lessened a bit if you're willing to go do the duels.
Dyunbyu's notes were fixed to be more in line with other field notes of its rarity - Vast majority of 3*s can be dropped in skirmishes the game naturally spawns, while 5*s all have at least one guaranteed method to obtain them. At 4*, Dyunbyu had only a single, non-guaranteed, manually spawned fate option, making it harder to get than 5*s, so they fixed it to be more in line with how it should be. Chances are it's still going to have a very low drop rate, and extremely likely you won't see a field note cluster exchange option in .58, if ever.
Or their indifference is due to the fact that it's side content that doesn't have bearing on the main game's PVE, thus they're not really interested in trying to keep balance in content that's setup to be a playing field where the devs can design OP actions and the players can have fun with said actions. They're more than likely just amused at how players figured out the flare star cheese, much akin to how they're amused when the playerbase manages to figure out strats that bypass or break certain mechanics they had designed (T2 enrage, T5 pet soak, T6 burn strat, A4s nisi cheese, O5s ghost train skip, etc).
There was insanely ridiculously high damage combo plays in Eureka content too they never nerfed despite how overwhelming they were compared to other options. I have no doubts they care very little that the playerbase figures out OP combos.
5.57 notes out and yay dyunbu!!!
*sitting with 7 of her note already*
they knew what they were doing when they made those buffs stack.
I have done Dalriada 84 times and only one single note has dropped. Mene's note. No Lyons. 84 times. And Mene's note dropped in the first 10 runs. So I havent seen a note in over 70 runs.
In that 84 times,
I've gotten the orchestral note 5 times
I got the Dinosaur mount 3 FREAKING TIMES
There has to be an issue with the RNG with Dalriada if in 84 runs I get the mount three times and 1 note. And I know some of you will go "Do the duel. you can cheese it". That would be all fine and dandy if I could get to it. Never see it pop and when it does pop I'm in Dalriada. If they didnt change the RNG and instead made it that you need 100 or more Platinum coins to get the field note, it would not diminish any playability as the only way to really get platinum coins is running Dalriada. It would keep it alive. But as of now much like every other person struggling, I'm completely sick of it and once I get my note I'm not setting foot in Zadnor ever again.
Finnally done: of Steel and Flame *22 / For Absenth Friends *11, No Camping Allowed *7, Brought to Heal *14 / Lacus more then 50... i stopped counting / Dalriada *18 / An End to Atrocities *9
These are the Numbers for the Field notes i needed to grind out in the End. Honestly that was frustrating und unfun as hell. But way less then i thought it would be.
I fully sympathize. I got my last note (Lyon II, in Dalriada) yesterday (my 51rst run). I wont talk about Castrum and Delubrum. It wasn't a nice journey, to say the least, and this exclusively due to drop rates. For Save the Queen areas, including the 3 raids, I think they should have a pity system established from the first day. Make the RNG drops exchangeable for coins. An ungodly amount of coins if you want. But something that we players can see, so we know we are moving towards a goal. You can reduce the amount of coins needed for that exchange in later patches if you want, to make it easier. But let us see a real objective from the start, instead of plunging us in RNG uncertainty for weeks/months. It is frustrating, it is not fun, it alienates many people from the game, and kills their wish to thread into that content ever again.
The problems with the notes is not the challenge in getting the notes as much as how they made it challenging. There is no way that a Lyon field note is worth 50 runs of castrum, which is what one needs to get a siege liege title, and the same can be said of any of the other 5 star notes. If one could be assured they can get a note after putting in a certain amount of time, there would definitely be less complaining.
It is kind of funny that the only reason this is happening is due to the mount achievement being added and people actually caring about getting all the field notes. Outside of completionists there was no real motivation to get all the notes, so all this feedback on actually getting the notes was kind of brushed under the rug.
I agree with the comments about some sort of pity system needing to be implemented for trying to get field notes, especially in lacus litore and dalriada.
I've done 50 runs of dalriada trying to get the last note i need which is the menenious note part II with no luck, I've received 2x lyon notes part II and nothing else, not even the dino mount.
At this point I'm just going to keep track of how many dalriada runs I've done and submit a bug report for every run it doesn't drop. If the game is going to waste my time with a little to non-existent droprate on a field note, then I'll waste someone elses time with a tonne of bug reports. Law of equivalent exchange and all that.
Also as many have said as well, don't blast us who voice our opinion about not doing the 1v1 fights as we all know there a pain to get in to, and not everyone has the desire or the knowledge on how to cheese it, aswell as the right lost actions.
The devs wanted to make this content last as long as possible but they didn't consider making it enjoyable or rewarding and instead made it monotonous and repetitive. This thread is already 25 pages long, how many more will it take before the devs actually listen and realise their mistake.
Its quite funny but also sad to see the amount of people in my Dal runs who are just as annoyed as me when they get nothing out of that one chest...one person was even surprised that you can get them there.
Please SE, make it so that we can exchange the note of the last boss for one of them. You could make it even up to 50 of these...even that would still be fine because I at least have a end goal in mind. Now I have no idea when I get my last note.
Well, also the duels really don't feel like they work as intended due to requiring specific actions to survive with no forewarning. That's been one of my big pet peves with MMO RPGs in general that for some reason every single "extreme or savage" style piece of content has to lean on the unknown to actually be challenging. If someone is standing in the middle of a field and a suddenly they hear the noise of an airplane, followed by getting smacked by said airplane about a half second later, that doesn't qualify as a "forewarning". :(
Anyone else notice how FAF doesn't really spawn lately? I'm only in Bozja for CLL and killing star mobs when waiting but I pay attention to the spawns to shout out for others, I went through TWO CLLs in the same instance and no spawn. And people were activicly killing scorpions (there was a cluster farm). People tell others who don't have the bike "just do the duels????" when it doesn't even spawn enough to do so (then compound that with others trying and people coming in with built up noto from Zadnor).
I am already at my 7th Day trying to get lyon field notes. 52 runs of bozja and counting, i am so stressed out with this i am having to use some meds to calm me down.
I tried to do 1v1 and discovered that it stress me more tham castrum, most of the time i prep it Alone with no help at all only to lose the space on the fight to someone that survives for 30 seg, and after 5 tries only trying to get the fight i got busted half way on the fight because of latency.
This is not fun at all, it isn't even a grind, its a scam worse tham gacha games.
So as of now I'm sitting at 56 runs of the dalriada with 2x lyon part II field notes and 10+ wrath of the harrier orchestrion rolls... nothing else.
Good to know my subscription is being used to make lady luck/RNG slap me and countless other playes in our respective faces repeatedly.
Something is going to give way soon and i feel it may be the playerbase's patience that'll go first.
Not everyone has the desire or skill to do the 1v1 duels for field notes.
oH bUt YoU cAn ChEeSe It, JuSt ChEeSe It AnD sToP wHiNiNg.
Well i and every other player are entitled to voice our opinion/concern if we feel as though we're getting the raw end of the deal so to speak.
Anyway if you don't see another post from me then one of three things happened.
1. I finally got the field notes of menenius part II.
2. My account was banned/deleted for sending reports to the devs about this issue.
3. I rage quited.
I can tell you now though that options 2. & 3. Will have a higher droprate than the option 1.
Got Dabog II notes from Supersoldier Rising last night. Felt like winning the lottery. I doubt we're getting alternatives way to obtain these anytime soon. Best advice I can give is go do other content when Bozja starts getting ya down. Focusing on nothing but field note grind is for certain a fast track to burnout. I'm down to just Lyon II and Dyunbu and not feeling too pressed about it anymore since I've just accepted I'm gonna grind these out very slowly. Anytime I start feeling tilted in Bozja I stop and do other content. It helps a lot to zone into BSF or Zadnor with a fresh state of mind.
I am currently on my 73rd run of the Dalriada. I have gotten the Lyon note 3 times and the orchestrion roll twice. No raptor, no Menenius. At this point my rng luck has become a meme so I feel this thread most acutely and have decided I need an extended break from this game. I really wish there was another way to obtain these, aside from dueling.
I'm on 54 runs of Dalriada with neither note dropping and no mount. I really don't want to do the duels but I see no other option as my luck is that bad.
On my 2nd week farming for note 11 as well, if it doesn't drop today i am going to give up.
I started farming these notes a month ago, needed ten and now am down to my last one, that one being Sart. I've spent about 12 hours a day on average in southern front. I would attempt the duel but in all that time I've only seen metal fox complete once, most times only like 9 people join and it just ends in a wipe, so no duel. It's gone past the point of pain.
I'm sorry but I just had to come back to these forums in hope that Square Enix can see how painful this grind is. I have done close to 50 runs of the Dalriada now and I think i'm just going to quit. I dont care if Square Enix thinks it is working as intended but this is downright sadist. First of all, the raid is not always 30 mins as you can have people not using essences and lots of new people that can make it close to an hour. Diablo takes a huge chunk of time sometimes and most players like myself are just there for the field notes. I have 10 stacks of Valor now and I haven't seen even ONE NOTE drop. I have collected 48 out of 50 notes and the remaining ones are only from Dalriada or duels. I have over 150 platinum coins and as a huge FFXII fan that just wants the mount I think Square Enix is finally getting me to stop grinding. This is not fun at all. If you thought waiting for Dalriada to pop and hopping various instances when people are already rank 25 and have nothing to do but grind for resistance honours and the last 2 field notes was fun then you need to seriously rethink your game design. This is DOWNRIGHT CRUEL. You waste HOURS UPON HOURS just waiting for various Dalriada to pop and you dont get the notes because the drop rate is a joke and probably 0.1%. I'm not even joking right now with how pissed I am about this. Everyone is pissed except the lucky people in every instance. Everyone in my instances think the field note drop rates are far too low and yes I KNOW I CAN DO THE DUELS but getting in one is another story. I have never been in a Zadnor duel despite qualifying for various CE because my notoriety is only at 2 and even then the system is complete rubbish. Picking random people from the instance for one duel that you have to wait ages for to spawn is incredibly stupid. I'm at my wits end with this content. This is worse than any other relic grind and even Atma books. This is a complete waste of time so please I implore you to give us the option to buy the remaining two notes with platinum coins. The time commitment is insane and I just can't do it anymore with endwalker still incredibly far away. I want the mount and this is the only thing I do everyday. And I know someone that has done 108 runs without a single note. I'm sorry but 200 runs for potentially 1 note that drop from the same chest is too much. Either increase the drop rate or increase the chances of getting into duels or better yet make Dalriada Q ABLE.
Thanks for listening.
I got my bike 2 weeks ago and am just hopping in to say I STILL support this. There's a point where I had so many coins I didn't know what to do with them. So far I've been getting enough for the hairstyle and selling it (because Viera), making them buyable with coins, clusters, or whatever would be miles better than leaving it to RNG or better RNG with a lot of pre-planning.
I have said this before already in this thread. They will increase drop note rate in a later patch. It's inevitable. Although yes it's a different flavor than EX Totems the same principle will apply later on. If you cannot get it RIGHT AWAY don't burn yourself out over it.
I hope you are right, but you will have to forgive me if I take what you're saying with a huge grain of salt. Do I personally think that they will? Yeah, but I have no idea when that will be. In my opinion, it would better serve them to do it sooner rather than later to keep players engaged instead of giving up for now like I and many others have. Players bowing out of some of the only content there is to do until November isn't a good thing, especially for SE.
I am missing 2 from Bozja. Have been for months, and with the new incentive/mount to try and get them, I gave it another try for a few weeks since it's release until recently- and still the same thing. So, I gave up bc I want to enjoy the game and not lose my sanity. Good luck.
I feel this on so many different levels. I'm pretty sure we've been in a group before. I'm at 58 and still trying. I got Menenius to 5% last night. No clue when I'll get in the duel again. It's extremely infuriating to see an FC member already have the bike and got BOTH notes on run #12. How. How can RNG be this bad?
But, hey. I got the derpy raptor on run #55!
Going to re-emphasize my point I made a few pages ago: It's okay to have grindy time consuming content, it's just that for some of these field notes they definitely feel more like rolling a roulette wheel over an actual grind. The ones I'm talking about are the infamous Menius II, Lyon I and II, Saurvetour, and Dabog I and II.
People are spending a lot of time in Bazja and it should be plausible to pick these up with the time commitment. However, not all time commitments and activities are the same for each person and some of these activities are time gated behind prep work or a timer. I'd say Saurvetour (I'm never going to spell that right) is the worst of the bunch since Dabog I and II can be had from fairly easy fates. The fix for Dyunbu was appreciated for sure as I didn't even know the field log didn't drop from the first two fates he appeared in.
G'day again,
So I'm at 69 runs of dalriada now and received my 4th field note on lyon part II, no menenius note or raptor mount, only lyon. Something is definitely wrong with the droprates/RNG for fields notes in the dalriada raid if that is my 4th lyon note to drop and nothing else. The extra lyon notes i received could've been given to people who are actually trying to farm them.
If you wanted to keep the bozja resistance content alive devs then you are failing both yourself and your fans/playerbase. This is literally eureka all over again but with a fresh coat of paint. You the devs said that you'd learned from your previous mistakes with eureka when you made bozja, but we can all see that was a lie.
How hard is it to fix this issue devs, just apply the same fix you used on getting into duels to getting field notes, or items in general. All you'd have to do is implement something that keeps track of how many times a player has run certain content, the higher the total of clears a player has then the higher the droprate/RNG increases for items they haven't received. Then once a player finally receives the item they've been grinding/farming for, the percentage on the droprate/RNG of said item returns to normal and rinse and repeat. I believe this would lessen yhe strain of farming but anyway I'm sure someone will try to tell me I'm wrong and i that i have no idea what I'mtalking about.
But in all seriousness devs you need to take a look at your loot/reward system, because no-one, not a single soul has the desire, drive or patience to mindlessly farm content they got sick of after the 20th run, just to get kicked in the guts by "lady luck".
RNG gonna RNG.
you know, you could say the same thing about any type of probability contest, video game or real life. haven't you ever bought a lottery ticket and then cursed the twelve that you didn't win everytime? same thing.
be glad at least you had the strength (after ONLY 6 WEEKS since 5.55/Zadnor came out) to say "no more!"
So first of all, you do realise that with the lotto (lottery in Aussie slang) the chance of winning is very low, depending on how much money yo want to wast on tickets. I don't usually buy a lotto ticket and when i do i generally win back what i spent, i don't curse the twelve for something i know i probably won't win in my lifetime.
Secondly, when did i say "no more" that i quit playing the bozja content? I'm still in there trying to spit in RNG's face becuase I'm too stunnorn for my own good to give in. My posts are just me putting in my 2 cents about how unfair this content is to players who put in the effort.
I've seen you replying to other people's posts on this thread, i don't think you understand where those players are coming from, they are the one's who have said no more and left the content as to not lose their love for the game, voiced their opinions so the devs can see how badly they screwed up.
I implore you to re-read my post in its entirety, instead of picking the last portion of my post and targeting that for your narrowly viewed response. Thats just my opinion though so do with that as you will.
Duels are not meant to be push a button to clear.
Let's look at the first and easiest duel, Gabe.
Caution has been a mechanic in the game since ARR.
The open circle sniper mechanic had been in the game since Stormblood.
Soak in the tower, been in the game since ARR.
Naturally when you see an all-closed circle that means every spot is weak, and Bozja they give you actions that can replicate any job role. Manawall is practically a tank immunity, even Dark Knight has to use it in the duel. That's all that is needed to clear, aside from decent dps.
Update: 65 runs now. Neither note has dropped. Saw the Dino mount on run 57. Duels down to 5% each. Bleh.
