Well that won't happen, not before the big two ooohhh. See you next time, space cowboy.

I don't know if it has been said before (not reading 25 pages)
But Level Sync would be next to pointless with the current power leveling "exploit" that's going on. You would have to get rid of PLing to make Level Sync a viable option.
Dunno if that's going to happen since Yoshi-P stated that he is in favor of power leveling.
I'd like to see Level Sync added before 2.0 also, its unlikely though.
Firstly they need to consolidate servers.
Server merge is the first step to create a deeper player pool. But that is a short term temporary fix. The merge doesn't address the issue of players who have been with XIV for a while and have many max level classes wanting to play with friend/family or any new player. Currently the only option is to buy another character slot and level along side those people. Or PL them which is a whole other can of worms.
we need it.
A few LS mates throughout the day would log on and try to get a lv 30ish PT started. However the majority of our LS have all classes/job 50/50.
Naturally a lot of us would have teamed up if we were able to level sync.
It's too bad all these members weren't able to be online at the same time maybe they could have done a small PT. But there resorted to Leves or begging for PL.
I left XI before they added level sync so i don't know if it is a good or bad thing but one thing i know is that since i came back a week ago i wasn't able to find a single party to play with and it is depressing. My highest class is 28, but im currently playing my THU which is 25.
Way to bump an old thread to get attention.
Level sync is horrible idea. Grinding a mob over and over is not my idea of a good time.
Believe it or not, there are some people who enjoy grind parties and also those who enjoy helping their lower level friends and LS mates even without any ingame reward. I would much prefer level sync of some sort vs. afk powerleveling. I am sure that an intelligently designed level sync system could avoid whatever pitfalls the FFXI version had...
But I don't want to PL them, I want to play with them not kill 10K mobs while they afk.
Then don't PL them. Just don't act like you cannot play with them. There's the super low level open raid you can attend with them if they're I believe it is level 10+. There is toto rak which is a r25+ instance which you can attend with them. You can kill a nm with them. You can chocobo around with them to different nodes/camps with them exploring the wonderful landscape that SE has provided us with. Would you like me to go on with the things I do with my low level friends?
Well that's all we have at the moment, you can grind leves all day on the same mobs, or you can grind the same mobs at a camp.
The only way this will change is if hamlet defence offer some unique way to level up, I won't be holding my breath, its most likely going to be something akin to behest.
Honestly everything feels like it's a grind right now in this game. That's why i can't wait for them to add new content.... especially for the leves, it feels like they only got 4-5 leves for each 10 levels and you are grinding the same ones over on over for hundred of times while leveling all your classes. To make it worst, these 4-5 leves feel the same as most of them only have different mobs to fight but everything else is the same.
I never said I cannot play with them, I want to be in an xp party with them. I already do all these things with my lower level friends. Hell I do them with random people shouting for help in Ul'dah. But I was talking about playing together while they gain xp which if I am in a party with them healing on my 50 conjurer/whm they do not receive.
I would much prefer being allowed to sync my conjurer down to 30 and do toto rak with them, not for them as is what happens when someone is on their 50.
lol, I quit going to totorak with friends/random people on a r50. I actually go on a crafting job or gathering job and throw rocks I find it to be quite silly and enjoyable and they can still obtain exp. Unless of course they request I just run them through it which I don't mind doing.
As for an exp class I can understand that. But then why not save a few low level jobs as to play with others? That's how I got all of my classes to 50. I got 3 classes to 50 soloing leves. After that I just level'd them willy nilly with friends/pug groups in the end I ended getting them all to 50 by playing with friends/ pugs whom needed 1 more person and asked me to join them.
No... SE needs to think outside the box....
Instead of Level "Sync"
what about Level "Sink?"
huh... huh??? think about it....
Hey why don't they just add level cap on dungeons, you can play with your friends and be the same level!!!
What about "Level Cap Day"
on Tuesday's no one can be higher than 25....
edit: I'll be here all week
I almost suggested this myself but was worried it would turn into an instanced vs. openworld argument. I would be ok with some level capped zones both openworld and instanced.
If I walked into Shposhae and was capped at 25 (as I think it is designed for level 15?) or capped at 35 as I walked into Toto-Rak (designed for 25?) that would be cool with me but might piss off people who want to farm in there.
The point of having level sync is to have the "challenge" remain in the fights. While FFXIV aren't very challenging but more difficult mobs are more "fun" to fight against than something you can one shot.
I'd think it'd be very fun and challenging to fight through toto rak as a level 25-30 class/job. But I don't have that option. If someone needs help all I can offer is PL or an instant win.
Where is the "fun" for the person getting walked through everything?
Whats funny is you got all heated about someone botting a crafting job, which is leveling while AFK but you don't give a shit about people who level AFK via PL. Is it not the same in priciple? Some how, a person that levels afk =/= a person that levels afk in your head. Tell me what the difference is? One can compete with you in a market while one can compete with you in the field?
So how does it effect you, personally if SE implements level sync so people who want to play the game along with people far below their own level, but still have the "fun of a challenging fight" ?
Guess you want your cake and eat it too.
I don't think dungeons should really be for "farming." I know people use them to farm GC seals, but I'm all for them being difficult, which without "hard mode" would mean a level cap.
But that said, that would really pose the same problem most have with level sync--leveling spots would become:
1-15: Solo/Leves
15-27~: Shposhae
~25-40: Toto-rak
40+: Natalan.
EDIT: They could also design this system to prevent that, by making the exp gain in dungeons slightly lower than the exp you can achieve from a typical party--that way a "normal" party in a level-appropriate camp without a level cap would still be better than capping yourself, but the option would still be there (and far better than leves) for helping out friends. :] The more I think about it, I think a grind party would be slightly faster, so it would work out pretty well (although many might choose the dungeons instead to farm for GC seals or drops). So I really do like this idea. ;)
Because even with level sync (and no PLing), the time it takes to get 1-50 on a DoW/M is probably the time it would take you to get 1-20 or maybe 30 on a DoL/DoH. You shouldn't try to make this comparison. People bot craft partially because the system is boring and all you are while crafting is essentially a human robot, doing the exact same action (keypress) repeatedly for hours. There are completely different motives behind bots and PLs.
I'm not trying to argue with you about PL (I think I've said quite enough earlier in the thread. ;D), I just wanted to point out that you're comparing apples and oranges, and this part of your argument was more personal than factual...
It doesn't matter about the length of time, or how boring something is.
AFK leveling is AFK leveling whether you do it on a DOH over a DOW. The principle is the same. You're not actively taking part in your progression through the game.
I don't care if it takes 1 year or 1 hr to get from 1-50. Going AFK through nearly the first 50% of your progression is just wrong.
What even more wrong is the inability to effectively play with someone -10 or more levels below you. There is too large of a disparity in the population of people who have all classes 50 and those who still have anything below 40.
It doesn't matter what or where the player base chooses to fight. It's the ability to play with other players regardless of where you currently are in your progression through the game. All without playing or progressing their game for them whil ethey sit AFK.
