Can we have a server merger after fee take place ?

Karnak is dead at any given time of the day including the various primetimes a merge will be a must have asap
its so not funny anymore and there is no way in hell im gonna re roll on another server and loose everything i spent since launch earning

In the circumstances, giving the remaining players someone to play with is the best thing they can do.

A much as I like having more people to play with, I dread being ripped from Mysidia.

This server merge/transfer news is the best thing I've heard from a rep in a long time.

Mysidia went from one of the most packed at launch, to pretty damn low now. Ive been playing on it w/ a RL friend and good lord is there little people, even during NA and JP prime time there is under 200 people in uldah (and like under 20 in the other 2 areas) Trying to make a PT is a test of patients in itself. That server NEEDS to be merged.

I didn't even know karnak was a sever........time to look at the list.

For the past couple days of sampling, Palamecia has been at 250 people online for NA primetime vs 550 JP prime from my observations.

Not sure what the weekend numbers are since I just started looking two days ago.

I've been hoping for this for some time.

EU players should come to Fabul. We have a sizable amount of EU players in my LS alone and we have been here since beta.

I think EU people are all over the servers, Besaid has loads of EU players and I know a lot of people from my 11 EU linkshell went to Trabia server.

I am happy about this piece of news though, we need more people on to make new friends etc. I just hope that when 2.0 comes out and PS3 gets released we can either move to another server or have people re-distributed again because I don't want to be stuck on a server with everyone 50 on all their jobs.
... But I want to be able to be on the same server as my friends too... lol

Of course, but I am speaking from my own perspective. Around 30 EU players in my LS alone (we're EU/NA). 34 + in the French LS. 22 in the German and then a large smattery of gmt/french/ and random EU in other LS.

if i can transfer to any server well any big one it will probably be Gyshal as i hear it has the largest amount of aussies of all servers at the moment the entire aussie population on Karnak is .....me

I'm pretty happy with the population on Rabanastre. But I'd assume that there are many servers with a lot fewer players, which is why this had to be done.

I don't see this as being a case of too few players in the game--I rather see it as there being too many servers for the number of players. I feel like it was better to start off with too many servers than too few.

If I am given a choice of either Lindblum or Besaid, I choose to quit the game. I hope Rabanastre or Trabia are choices.

This is good and all. My only request is if you can post information early on what servers are going to be shut down and which ones are going to remain open. Give us at least 2-3 weeks notice, So we can coordinate with other friends and linkshell members on our server where we would all like to move too. That's if Our server is one of the servers being shutdown.

I think people should just come over to us :D That way we don't need to break up the community.

They normally do...they did with FFXI on the first set of mergers, as well as the recent merger last year so I don't see why they wouldn't now.

As long as they don't hot-potato characters from one server to a random bunch..it should be ok.

i think its way too early to shout for a merge... especially a server merge cant be redone!
i personally dont like to see server merges... because you have to rename your character or you have an ugly server descritption behind your name.


Sever merge should be the LAST!!!! instance ! when a MMorpg comes to an end.
i totally disagree with the author of this thread.


Final fantasy will be "reborn" after 2.0. i think they should only take server merge into account after that release... or if the server population will CLEARLY drop after fee phase is going to start.

The OP asked for after fees and Yoshida's response posted in this thread by the devs said after the fees.

My server is currently at less than 30% of their target peak population on weekdays. Once fees start it is likely to get worse. An active population of 200 people at any given time is not going to keep people around until 2.0. Server transfers need to happen so people can party and have an active economy.

unless you have a very non creative name like "cloud strife" or something then i wouldnt worry for a second, the chances of someone taking both your first and last name is slim.

This game needs it badly and clearly the players on the dead servers and even the devs notice. Of course you and i being on lindblum know that ones a fuller one, but Mysidia and some others are pretty tiny.

And as it always goes, the bigger server stays and absorbs the smaller ones, so you shouldnt worry in the least.

Free name changes if you make a mule on whatever server you are going to with your current name.

Great news.

Now I'm torn whether to stay on Lindblum as I like my current LS, or move to a server with a better EU population.

It was expected. It's not a good or bad news IMO...just something fated to happen.

I liked it though. Minimum population is a must when you want a party-oriented game. Also, this means there will be free servers waiting for Tanaka when he's done with FFXI in march! ^^

But if they wante 1500-2000 players per server we might get like 3-in-one merges...because even the 3 big ones might not be beating 600 ppl at peaks.

if they are mixing with a small server (which there are plenty with embarrassingly low prime time #s) then i cant see why not. If hes looking for over 1k during prime hours per server, then i can see half of the servers being merged for sure.

I'm happy about this in the short term, low population servers are a bad thing. But I worry about 2 things. The first is server merges can look bad, like the game is dying, which I suppose until 2.0 it probably will be. The second is when 2.0 hits are they going to add new servers again and they will all just be full of new people?

Perhaps in 2.0 the severs will be able to hold 4K people at a time? I just don't want all us old timers on 5 severs and all the new guys on 5 different servers.

To me it just seems like all the people on the LOW populated servers will have the option to move to a HIGH populated server.

So if you are already on one of the high one, you aint going nowhere XD

I think my Besaid character is on a high one, hope not but think it will :( as I'd like to move it to Istory (or wherever Istory goes)

Oh well, will have to see how it goes. If they trying to reduce servers then they wont let total freedom as it defeats the purpose.

It sound to me like some server is getting removed, so those population can migrate into new server, While there will be one server getting labelled as "EU main server" too.

so it is remove and migrate instead of a normal merging.
