I see no problem with Thief being a Job or class, because a Class could easily branch off into the many "Thief" subclasses -- Thief, Dancer etc. (Dancer was close to a thief in general make up.)

Though THF sounds more like a Job, than a class, I would prefer THF the class, which becomes the NIN job. Over Scout to NIN. (Good ol FF1 reference.)
debuffs mage sure, then i guess thf and then pet classes. would love to see like 3diff pet classes that work well together in party modes. or even pet classes that acually get used in normal groups and not just solo or duo/trio's with other pet classes.
I would love a pet class next!
Maybe something like BST *_____*? I would like a snurble pet >:3 (Would that make me a Snurble Wrangler?)
a MUSKATEER class
like i said beore id liek t see mage first for magic balance.
Im already certain that thf and smn will make an appearence sometime.
what id like to see is,
arcaninist class> time mage job > engineer job
Musketeer sounds like a fun class. A loud one, too. But maybe I just want to hold stacks and stacks of bullets. ^_^
Here is what I'd like to see (in the order of appearance)
- Arcanist [Class] master of Enfeebling and Enhancing Magic >> Time Mage [Job] Advanced Enfeebling/Enhancing Magic.
- Scout [Class] Twin Daggers >> Thief [Job] Heavy Damage Spike and enfeebling attacks, stealing.
- Musketeer (Chemist) [Class] uses Guns, has bonus to Item use >> Gambler [Job] Random attacks/buffs, Dice and Cards.
- Tamer [Class] uses Whips and can tame Pets to fight >> Beastmaster [Job] Can tame monsters to use as mounts in battle. (see Yoshi's 2nd Youtube Video)
- Evoker [Class] - Master of elemental spirits >> Summoner [Job]- Summons lesser Avatars (ie Carbuncle, Fenrir, Valefor,..) to fight alongside, and can also summon Primals like Ifrit. (obviously within the framework of Player Companies that Yoshi suggested)
Beyond this, new jobs should require a mixture of classes. There are many fantastic possibilities here:
Gladiator + Thaumaturge = Red Mage [Job] Rapier
Marauder + Arcanist = Dark Knight [Job] Scythe
Musketeer + Thaumaturge = Gun Mage [Job] Gunblade
Tamer + Conjurer = Blue Mage [Job] Scimitar
Scout + Tamer = Dancer [Job] Fans
Conjurer + Evoker = Geomancer [Job] Bell
Archer + Scout = Ninja [Job] Katana
Lancer + Gladiator = Samurai [Job] Great Katana
There needs to be another caster class. The melee class has plenty for now. To only have two caster classes is just nuts. Either a caster/pet class (summoner) or red mage. Either would be fine by me.
Can I have Fluttershy as a pet, please!
I think the Disciples of Magic classes need more variety, so I'd say a new caster class is the most important. Bonus points if it's Red Mage!
I also have been looking forward to Musketeer since alpha, so I'd like to see that with possible job options Corsair and Engineer.
I hope Red-Mage is radically different from FFXI.
How is it going to be any different from Cjn/Whm and Thm/Blm if it supposed to be a mix of both, and the first 2 Dom alreayd have a mix of each other's abilities.
Well in FFXI the job of the RDM was mostly about enfeebling and enhancing instead of just being a versatile warrior/mage. I think it would be cool if getting the RDM job required progression in both a DoW class (gladiator for example) and a DoM class (thaumaturge most likely) and allowed access to a melee/caster type role where you stick enfeebles on your opponent in melee combat. How cool would it be fighting as a duelist type wearing a fancy red hat who cripples their opponents with enfeebling magic?
Another option for enfeebling/enhancing would be Time Mage. Something not explored in FFXI at all, but definitely an iconic FF job that could easily fulfill that role with spells like haste and slow.
They should just add all three, and make everyone happy, not add one and make it worse by saying player poll shows which one will be implemented first.
DARK KNIGHT!!!!
The "caster" job in the poll seems more like a Musketeer than a mage.
Since Yoshi-P stated that the next class would be a Mage (Ideally: Arcanist >> Time Mage.) , I can't help but wonder if this poll is to help the dev team decide on an additional class to be released in tandem with the new Mage class.
It would be a bit strange to add a class to the game by itself. New jobs in FFXI were deliberately added in groups of 2 or more to avoid what would be a majority of players all leveling a single job at the same time.
But then again, this game isn't finished yet....
i just made a thread on this so thought id pot my thought in here too,
id like SE to make a 2nd job set before making new classes. I think a proper job tree would be best so when its time to get a job you have choices. it would essentially double the skill sets and the classes are already there so some of the work is done.
Caster! Absolutely caster! We need more than two mages!
Though I'd say pet class as a second choice if it's a DoM class.
Yoshi P. Ninja as a main class , or they will find you !! lol

Pet Class please
If it is indeed true that it is going to be
BST -> SMN. . .
Ill take the caster class first.
ARC -> TMG seems less boring than charming a monster for a short amount of time. :/
THF>NIN please.
A proper evasion based class.
However that's a personal thing, what is more sorely needed is another mage class. But both really should be in game as essential classes.
Something i have been wondering about as of late.
When they add a new class will its job come in at the same time or will we have to wait around for a while?
That's actually a good question and I think the best answer any of us can give is: maybe.
I mean technically there's nothing that says they have to. Maybe they want to see how a class works in actual play before adding in a job. Make sure the class works as intended first.
Reminds me of how they delayed AF armor for new classes in XI.
Thief please, been waiting longtime.
Was sad kitty when it wasn't a starting class.
i dont get why they think BST and SMN should have ANYTHING to do with eachother? the two concepts are completely different
one tames wild field beasts and uses 0 magic at all while the other harnesses magical creatures by using magic to summon them from another dimension.
pleeeeeeeeeeease dont relate BST to SMN SE
for me i would want pet job hopefully DRG :) or SMN would be deadly, SMN could work for cast/pet job so that would kill 2 birds with 1 stone there :).
yea i would myself as well but i'm just trying to get a little dragon pet like in ffxi lol... even if i have to steal a dragon egg and raise him myself i will lol. :)
