im sure they have this diadem as test for now to improve it even tho 280 weapon has 1 dmg more then you relic that still gona be ur BiS unless ur lucky get a weapon 280 with same stats on.
DW guys I posted the bug here, I'm sure SE will absolutely reply in a good natured way and fix the bug.
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...056-Diadem-bug
- not necessarily with all weapons. I know with all the healer weapons secondary stats outweighs weapon damage for dps regularly, because weapon damage doesnt weigh as much on healer weapons as say, a WAR axe (like 37 weaighting I think? XD). For example people were using the Zurvan Book (i265) over the A12S book (i275) because the secondary stats are worth so much.
Most of the time WD> secondary though, which is why 280 RNG stats is absolute BS.
It is not really different and it's not pointless to complain. The timing of this is absolutely awful and invalidates not only the raid weapons, but nearly 2 years worth of the relic weapon grind, 9 days after it was finally completed. I assure you that the salt mountain would've been way less big if they'd released this like a month before Stormblood, and not now. It ludicrous and incredibly dumb.
Saying that "oh, Stormblood will be released in 3 months anyway stop QQing" is ignoring the glaring issues at hand and comes down to incredibly arrogant hand-waving. i280 weapons that basically come down entirely to luck are quite literally shitting all over both raiders and people who have done one or more relics, expecting them to actually be worth something until Stormblood - just as it was for Heavensward, where the raid gear and relic could absolutely carry you all the way to 60. Plus, it's not like people aren't aware that Stormblood will be a completete reset anyway - that's expected and perfectly fine, since we'll be getting a lot of actually new content as well as lots of overhauls all across the board, in addition to two new jobs which will likely shake up the meta quite a bit (if they don't fuck them up like they did MCH and AST in 3.0).
Also, the gear from Diadem would've been entirely fine if it was i260 and could only almost compete with raid and augmented shire gear, instead of automatically being BiS for literally everyone in every slot. It would've been a great way to gear alt jobs in preparation for Stormblood while not completely invalidating basically everything that people have worked hard for, while giving us filler content until Stormblood just as well. There was literally no reason to for this bullshit to happen.
2 years, 2 damm years farming and doing my 2 relics (yeah is more easy that the original but the effort in general is pretty high) and now they release conten how give us better weapons that us? for real?, i can understand you give us free 275 weapons, or meaby 280 pink weapons but same attack power that a 275, but this? i feeling like SE spit in all our work even if is random you still have the chance to see all you work in to dust at day 1.
pff i guess the relics go to still be usefull to skip the 1ยบ step of the new relic but sure that step go to be so easy so thats not matters much.
Someone correct me if im wrong here.
The chance of the drop being my main is 1/13.
The chance that it will drop to me is 1/72 (its really the number of participants, but from what im hearing this is no low manning affair.)
making the chance that I get the drop for my main 1/936
and that's assuming the fight occurs every time and the weapon drops every time. which may not be true.
if the fight occurs one chance in 5 as someone said on the forum, that could make this 1/4680. again not accounting for drop rate.
And the funny thing was, I was really looking forward to putting my time in for the Anima weapon.
But what's the point? Run Diadem until I get max stats!
It's not even a joke though. They released it with a SUPERobvious translation error. Like SO SO obvious. It stands to reason that the ilvl was a typo in the code as well.
EDIT - also if they ban me, that's fine - but it would only prove theyre not listening to their paying customers who are for the most part CLEARLY upset this. They did it before with Gordias iirc, and people raged then.
What on earth possessed them to do the same stupid thing that no one liked....
Which will probably be never due to the extremely low chance. Better to just stick with you relic, it will be useful.
Actually at the time Diadem was introduced accesories were bis for a short period (some jobs anyhow).
Diadem is basically ... hunts. How much time or effort is there really?
Yes there will be RNG, so has every damn Relic in this game.....
I highly doubt they will make the weapon harder to obtain then raiding or Relic as none would bother going back/trying Diadem.
Also if the weapon is higher weapon dmg and ilv this is a big kick to the face for many of us.
I undestand why people are mad about it , as anima/alex wep should be bis, but honestly i dont see them(weapons) so gamechanging compared to 275 anima, im more motivated to do diadem for hunting hawk, 60M in my server , they still drop right?
"What?! People can win millions in the lottery? That is more than I have saved up and makes all my years of work useless! REEEEE!!!"
This is how silly you all sound to me right now, lol
Also
>having any sort of emotional attachment to your gear beyond its glam value
It's like you all are new to the gear progression in this game, geez...
Disappointed. They should have dropped 280 weapons at a later date, not less than 2 weeks from the final anima step dropping.
The chance of you getting the weapon is low sure, but that is beyond the point.
You can win much more than that by winning the genetical lottery and being born as the child of someone rich, inheriting entire economical empires.
You can also lose a lot by being unlucky and being born a jew in germany around the start of the 20th century.
That's luck! It sucks.
Except for the fact that A) Yoshi himself said Relic would be BiS so kiiiiind of lied a little bit
B) This kind of gear progression encourages people with more time than ability to get 'BiS' and carry on dragging down farm groups...
C) Your analogy was hilariously bad because the difference is so few people would have bothered with relic at all if they'd been told 'don't worry, by the time it's actually BiS it wont be BiS'.
Cant wait to see people in this thread react to i290 store bought grey gear once Stormblood comes out.
I was a bit shocked this morning but now i'm just neutral, this content isn't for me I'll just continue doing stuff i like.
If the success % is p and we want to calculate the chance of k successes in n trials, we can use the probability mass function for the binomial distribution. If k = 0 (meaning no successes) it's reduced to the following formula:
(1 - p)^n
To find the chance of any amount of successes higher than zero (previous event's complement), i.e. the chance of at least one weapon drop, we use the formula
1 - (1 - p)^n
To put this in to perspective, the chance that a weapon drops for your main job and you win the roll within 1000 runs where the rare fight is beaten is
1 - (1 - 1/936)^1000
= 1 - 0.9989316239^1000
= 1 - 0.3433698199
= 0.6566301801
= 66%
So even within 1000 runs where the rare fight spawned and was successfully beaten only about 2 out of 3 people get at least 1 weapon for their main job. It's still not guaranteed even with a huge amount of grinding. The chance for you getting any weapon(s) within 200 runs is
1 - (1 - 1/72)^200
= 1 - 0.9861111111^200
= 1 - 0.0609776182
= 0.9390223818
= 94%
So it seems that getting a weapon for any job seems possible if one puts in the grind and the rare events happen and are beaten fairly regularly, but to get a decent chance for your chosen main job's weapon would take more runs than you could possibly do before Stormblood. Diadem is in no way guaranteed to drop loot that invalidates the relic grind. I'd be happy for any corrections if I have happened to make a mistake.
I'm extremely upset about this having allocated my ast relic over the weekend to hit the acc cap with all heaven eye v melds and allocating the spell speed to 95 as well. Wow, I wasted my lore and want to quit.
I'm not entirely serious about quitting btw.... just shocked.
Why are people shocked? The only thing that shocks me is that the gear isn't 280 random stat as well. This has been repeated with hunts and first diadem to a degree. The content isn't that good and a large percentage wouldn't do it. So how do you make people do content no one wanted and you wasted money on? Put BiS or almost BiS gear. Then make it kind of grindy and random.
Yeah, in a 2 patch cycle! Not in the hotfixes, and second halves of patches.
They will react reasonable, because that is a reasonable and expected thing.
It's not reasonable to give out a 280 weapon 3 months before that, just after finishing the relic and before remove of the savage lockout.
No one expected that, it's unreasonable to implement it now. That's why people complain.
Why do you think people complained not that much about crafted 220 gear, although it invalidated savage 210 gear?
Because the raid tier was finished, open, nerfed and not current anymore.
on a different note, not sure if anyone said this but as a wild guess this might be a prewiew of how the relics will drop in SB
Maybe we should get some datas on what boss dropped what weapons to be 100% sure it's a total RNG
What a lovely surprise. Hell I could have just waited it out instead of wasting all that time for nothing. Time to go back to logging in for airships only till expansion again. Thanks for the "fun"!
In case ya'll didn't know, from the end of 2.5 part 2, 130 gear and 135 relics/raid weapons lasted until at most level 56 so having capped gear helped people not even have to switch their armor and weapons out for half the leveling process of 50-60. It would be assumed that the same will happen here. That's what we're all expecting. So no, your non HQ store bought level 61 gear should not exceed your capped 270 set for a few levels. Being capped in gear always gives us a headstart in content and not having to switch out for a while.
This 280 thing is really stupid especially since it's coming from basic content. I'm not even a raider nor am I hardcore, but I did invest time into finishing my relics and min-maxing to the best of my abilities with what I had access to and this is just a stupid attempt to get people to go play Diadem.
They didn't even have to make it like this. I'm sure if they made it easy to farm all forms of T5 materia and added exclusive materials/recipes to Diadem instead, PLENTY of people will suddenly want to do it. As a gatherer as well, I know I would. I need something to use these max stats on.
Let's be real, if Diadem rewards were weaker than existing ones, no one would do it.
No, actually, her analogy is pretty good. It's exactly like saying you wouldn't bother saving money little by little if we tell you than you can be richer by winning the lottery.
Well, you see raiders crying every odd patch with weekly upgrade item from 24-man raid
I hope relics won't simply "drop" in Eureka, but will still use upgrade stages.
No, it's not. In MMO, every reward only depends on "time". Either time to practice a difficult content or time to clear an easier content. The random part in Diadem means that most people would go faster by learning and clearing A12S than by being favored by the RNG in Diadem. i280 is not that high compared ti i275, and is only a slight incentive to gather the whole playerbase in Diadem.
Hunts only allow players to farm the items that can upgrade the tomestone gear, it doesn't make it higher iLvl than the Alexander Savage raid gear.
As for Diadem, you're forgetting that SE flat out stated that it was a mistake to have it drop gear on par with Alexander Savage gear.
This past few updates are showing us how out of tune the devs are with the playerbase atm. So far over the past few weeks SE have managed to annoy casuals, raiders, midcore and pvpers.
ilevel 275 maybe good enough until level 66
ilevel 280 maybe good enough until level 69 or 70
Well then, please explain to me why people keep doing Palace of the Dead 51+ (i.e., not spamming 1-10 for leveling) despite it offering absolutely no relevant rewards in terms of gear. Oh wait, you can't, because - surprise - content doesn't need to drop gear to be worth doing. Diadem 2.0 actually offers a *ton* of rewards that are entirely unrelated to gear progression and that don't really shit on many months of hard work either in Savage progression or relic progress via pure RNG bullshit.
There's simply no excuse for this, and whiteknighting of such incredibly stupid and obviously misguided dev decisions isn't gonna get us better content in the future. They've repeated literally the same fucking mistakes they admitted were the problem with the first iteration of Diadem. In addition to that, they lied to our faces about the relics. I'm especially pissed about this because I actually think the new iteration of Diadem is quite fun as a side-activity, and it would have been pretty well received without this entire "lol your entire BiS is now obsolete have fun grinding Diadem" bullshit.
You think maybe it's cause of the lack of community? That maybe we are substituting the need for the gear in "our camp", whether it be hardcore or casual, to be the de facto best, for something that is lacking in the game overall, the sense of working with people and not against them in content?
You don't need to look far to see the rifts, at least in the forum and pf, "no bonus" "skip soar" "the grind is fine" "This is getting boring each patch" "we need more content"
From what I understand, not only is the drop rate low but the chances of getting one are slim enough as it is, never mind getting the perfect roll on one when it comes to stats. So RNG on top of grinds on top of more RNG. All this sounds like to me is the games way of passing time and giving the players who already worked for everything and have nothing else to really accomplish in the current game something else to try and obtain. It sounds like a final "busy work" content before the expansion comes.
