I want to believe in the Sam Raimi theory, simply because I at least can imagine forcing myself to play Samurai.
My dislike for both Redmage and Bluemage is so big that I can't deal with the thought of 2/2 jobs being something I won't ever play x.X
If, in some convoluted way, it was actually meant as a hint to an acrobatic class like Dancer, Juggler and the like, I'd be incredibly happy, but..idk...seems unlikely.
I watched the keynote and I believe you misunderstood me.
Again AST seems highly unlikely to be the intent behind the 007 shirt. It was solely to hint at MCH. The Solitaire character from 1 movie out of 25 at the time, is just too far out there for players to predict considering how Yoshi has used these shirts. You also have to consider AST debuted in XIV. Why it was such an unexpected surprise during its reveal in Tokyo.
This is the first time I've heard that AST's reveal was tied to the 007 shirt. This has to be an assumption because that is more far fetched than the Sam Rami debate XD Especially simply because of a villain who plays cards in a James Bond movie? That's like saying AST was revealed because of his Batman shirt that linked to the animated series' Time King/Clock King villain. We can find anything if we want to get crazy.
Spider Man's love is Mary Jane
Mary Jane = marijuana
Marijuana = drug
Drug = chemist
Chemist confirmed
yoshida trolling and ppl take it so serious like its the word of god, they're like oh sam raimi so samurai right? and yoshi is like well there's also that other director whats his name webb, so maybe its a webb-er job spider webb-er and ppl are like ITS A WEB JOB ITS GOT WEBS CONFIRMED probably not just him deflecting or being funny making a joke about the other director marc WEBB to try and defelect that hey did you guys think maybe its not samurai its marcwebb-er job? cos what else is he gonna say, yeah you got me within 10 seconds gg guys?
that being said a samurai with a net like a web to cc mobs, id be down with that
blu got talked about as a concept in a recent interview and yoshida was considering how it would fit into the game, so its not gonna be blu just yet, yosida came out said he liked the original trilogy with sam director, theyre properly not adding 2 dps and nothing else that would be stoopid, the "slip up" tweet saying only 2 jobs, like they removed it within seconds cos it was a MISTAKE like if they accidentally leaked it was gonna be 2 jobs this xpac ONLY then why not just let it ride like oops we fucked up but there we are, so im going with 3 jobs, ppl supporting the blu theory cos there is a ton of blue mage references in xiv like names and stuff from xi, that already got confirmed in an interview a while ago that there was no connection directly like that just happened to be like that
I think that blue mage is an interesting job because you can learn spells from enemies, but honestly I don't think that it really fits MMORPG party settings. If anything, I think it would work solo and it would be really fun to implement it as a job where you go around and learn abilities from every monster, so I'd definitely like to try and do this, but I'm concerned when it comes to playing in a party players would put up barriers if you haven't learned certain abilities. Additionally, in the event you are able to use abilities forever once you learn them, the difficulty of learning abilities would be high, and we wouldn't be able to balance the system so it wouldn't revolve around procuring your abilities instead of equipment. This wouldn't be practical enough to fit in an MMORPG party setting and conversely if you are swapping in only certain abilities you've learned, the true image of a blue mage would diminish, so this is something that I am concerned with. -LetterLIVE 08/23/2014
Samurai Spiders of Kajiki http://en.japantravel.com/kagoshima/...of-kajiki/1525 ( The contest is also in June same time as Stormblood)
also everyone was expecting samurai, it makes too much game sense to not have sam tank, rdm dps and i dunno, dancer healer maybe? i'm not sold on that last one just yet but we'll see
i just cant see them sitting round the producers table thinking right guys we need to hint the new job with this shirt, lets do blue mage ok? wait... what if people instantly jump to the producer sam raimi? and think samurai? especially after you tell them you like that trilogy, the only reason to put in that reference is because they did it on purpose, if they wanted to seriously tease blue mage itd be something without an obvious reference to ANOTHER highly considered and sought after job
tldr: Samurai tank, red mage dps (cos of course it's already confirmed) and im hoping a healer too, maybe dancer or some sort of healer we havent heard of like AST was

Vampire job confirmed
Oh! Good, someone found the samurai spiderman figure...again. Yeah, still not a 'rock solid' argument for Spiderman = Samurai. I mean, it's not like that figure is one out of hundreds or...thousands. Oh wait, it is one figure out of thousands but its the one figure that confirms what you want so go ahead and post it I guess. But man, I wish people would stop with these reddit/imgur style posts that are just "IMAGE!" and that's their whole argument. No substance or anything to discuss, just an image. :V
Top trollage, I like you.
whatever it will be, we will get the answer in febuary, we can argue all day, Yoshi-p was wanting to make a buzz he did it good job on this haha
This has nothing to do with samurai, I really don't care what's coming out in 4.0, I'll find out when I buy the expansion, download it and go 'wtf?'
buuuut... Lalafel in 4.0 end-game armour confirmed;

Sam Raimi is currently working on Ash vs Evil Dead. The lead characters name is Ash. Ash is also the name of the lead character in Pokémon where he travels the world capturing and training creatures to fight for him...
Beastmaster confirmed.
Spiderman is a PS4 game in development by Insomniac Games. Insomnia is a condition in which someone cannot sleep. In Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced 2 there was a quest called Sleepless Nights in which you had to kill an Oversoul who casted dark magic and brought things back from the dead. Necromancer confirmed.
Who was Spiderman's biggest nemesis in the comic books and movies? He is no other than Norman Osborn a.k.a. Green Goblin.

Blue Mage confirmed!
Today I was walking on the streets while thinking of the spiderman shirt; a stay dog started barking at me.
I shouted "SIT!" and he did.
Beastmaster confirmed
Tch. Spiderman is Marvel's mascot. Cmon guys.
Mascot is going to be the new job
Guys i think i found something. so this may be a coincidence but it lines up too perfect. the main things spider-man hints to is dancer, samurai,chemist and blue mage. OK so the collectors edition in game item reveals might be more than just randomly chosen things. Bartz is from 5 and 5 has all 4 of the said jobs to be able to use. Syldra was a summon that dealt wind aspected damage. Each job is assigned an elemental crystal. so not only does blue mage happen to be wind aspected,but the other 3 are all earth jobs with the only one being dragoon, the main focus of heavensward. its possible yoshida knew of the othero dismiss those jobs, and solidly confirm blue mage.
Spiderman -> protector of peace -> knight -> Samurai confirmed
Guys, Yoshida must be so proud of you and all your speculations xD

On a more serious tone, it would be so fun if it was neither dancer, BLU, SAM etc but a whole newworldjob no one expected ^^
I'm not a big fan of the idea that both new jobs will be using swords as their weapons. If they let Dark Knight have a scythe after Stormblood that'd shake things up a bit more, but idk if they even have any plans for that outside of Yoshi vaguely stating "mebee" in a interview once.
A sword + a floaty crystal in the off-hand. That's not very innovative. I'm excited to see how RDM actually plays but the weapon isn't really exciting.
I'd like to be able to see jobs that give us nunchucks, Merlwyb's dual weilded muskets (it says they're muskets on the wiki), whips, blitzballs, puppets, a proper gambler DPS, hand bombs, flutes, or brushes someday.
What's funny and speculated already. Look at the Lore description for Alchemy:
Spiderman referencing a "Sticky Situation". It's out there, but would be quite a curve ball to the SAM/DNC/BLU crowd.Quote:
Masters of Science and Nature, the devilish and the divine, alchemists ensure their livelihood through the transmogrification of mundane materials into wondrous waters─from curative concoctions to potent potables.
The Ul'dahn school only recently came to be recognized in scientific circles as a valid branch of alchemical orthodoxy. It is based on fundamental principles originating in the Near East tradition, but draws heavily upon esoteric elements of both Lalafellin herbalism and Miqo'te occultism as well.
Except Alchemist already exists as a class in the game.
You know, it is quite possible to voice distaste for an idea WITHOUT talking down to/insulting people. Just a thought ya know.
Though I wouldn't mind at least one scythe-like weapon to kinda nod to the XI days. Just one. Anyways, this train of thought is goin' off topic. Moving on!
It seems to me that the only thing confirmed is everyone's bias...
To be honest, I really hope that most of those never come to FF14 as weapons. The only one I'd like in your list are the whip and the double gun (and not even sure about this one since we already have the machinist). The others look like joke weapons and although they can be fun once in while (like yokai watch weapons), I wouldn't want a job based only on joke weapons.
