*sighs* tiring, it's the monk of FF4, who is more chinese martial art, what we have in FF14 is totally different, because if you want to play at this game i will too, check every character being monk in ff series, each have different style, some are even more boxer than monk.
use the CGI from another game for justify your point is kinda...
about the possibility to add a different animation for the whole skillset based on the fist stance of the monk, unlikely, is like create a new set of animation for a weapon. and yoshida have said it, it will never happend, they prefer invest time into make a new jobs using this animation than doing this for only one jobs. because don't forget that not only the monk do have different stance. then if they do this for the monk, they need to do it for every skill. plus each skill have a reason behind them name and animation. chaning the animation is not different than change the skill by itself.
in this trailer we do have 2 fighter, yes, 2 martial artist in a sort.... but not two monk, member of the fist of Raghr. (what the monk of FF14 are!) and that the whole point of this, no other school exist in ala miggho, only the fist of Raghr that did split into 2 school later, but still shared the same skill, the approach did change in the way to open the chakra and such.
here we have 2 fighter one direct, strong and sturdy, mostly a karaté fighter (like our monk) and the other is clearly a kung fu fighter, agile, gracefull and precise. they are like fire and water, and i use this image for a reason, her movement are flowing smooth and chaining more than the one of the WoL. what make sense based on the style both use.
here the point that a loooooot of you seems to forget.
FF14 Monk have a personality and it way to fight, it's not FF1-13 it's FF14! whatever you say it will not change.
i wish you will not forget to take in account every element instead to stay focus on point that are....irevelant.
ADVSS i'm partially ok with the fact you say that it's a dbz-like action, and it's what it's shown passed the time of the double charge. passed this point they are exchange blow without really skill. the last part of the fight is irrevelant because well.... we can't burn our chakra like this in the game haha but it look cool in the CGI. however all the first part is quite interesting and tell us a lot about the personality of the two fighter. them fighting style and even the forte and weakness.
and that where the red lady fail to be a monk, all she do is totally the inverse of what the monk is IN FF14. it's why this fight look soo breathtaking, both are like oposite clashing.
i can't decently say it's dancer at more of 65% but i can say without any doubt, she is not a monk of FF14, she is not part of the fist of Raghr! and that the whole point of this debate.
ps: *sighs* a good monk can go below 1.7 gcd, if you chain the out gcd skill, the gameplay is quite fast
pss: i didn't answer to Reynhart because your point are ridiculous, only the kick was the most funny, 95% of the skill of the monk are punch, the monk have 1 kick attack dragon tackle! all the rest are punching strike! featherfoot and fist of wind will probabbly be revamped or take off for more usefull skill, plus... the animation don't match up, go ingame check for god sake... that terrible how people come here talk about the monk and don't even check up.
only for featherfoot: she turn on herself while jumping on one feet, monk jump from feet to feet without turn on himself.
plus, why launch a buff that increase evasion just before charge?
finally for close this debate with Reynhart, i'm glad people want to ask for more for the monk, however, it will be nice to accept when other point stuff that don't go in your way. everything i have said was right, based on fact
by the way the event of the 2nd anniversary:
https://riikorinkoko.files.wordpress...versary-52.jpg
what amusing since they had already start work on samurai enough for soken to make music for it. before they did swicth to dark knight because more aligned with ishgard design and because yoshida was scared that it was too much asiatic job too fast.

a picture taken while the fanfest 2014 showing the computer of soken.
anyway.... let's close this there...
there are two points to your "kick" I just want to mention. First we are getting new skills, abilities we havent seen yet- pruning of skills and more useful skills has already been mentioned.
Jobs having more identity ie kick is a well known monk class skill from many final fantasies,
were gonna get some new skills we havent seen, were gonna get more identity and thematic feel in jobs.Monks kicking more often when the iconic ability was kick makes this seem a lot more feasable as an expose of future mnk vs present mnk?
just wanted to throw those out there
I know that's the MNK from FFIV, a MNK moving very similarly to the MNK woman in the trailer. Yes the fighting style is a little bit different from the WoL but she does literally use some of the MNK moves, even emulating some of the same moves as the WoL (which is who the male was confirmed to be). People have seen featherfoot, snap punch, and I believe dragon kick performed by her, and at the end she definately uses the same chakra move as the WoL (albeit red, probably for stylistic reasons), if she is a DNC then the WoL also must be a DNC.
Some points to take from the trailer:
- The movement performed by her is a chinese martial arts style, not a dance. This is similar to Yangs (hes a MNK) movement in the FFIV trailer linked.
- The trailer is not indicative of moveset, and does not reflect the ingame fighting style of the character, as demonstrated by DRGs in the heavensward trailer.
- New unseen skills to come in 4.0, perhaps more akin to this chinese fighting style.
- Other speculation points to this person being Yda, Yda is a PGL, and Dancer will not branch off of PGL, the dev team are slowely doing away with classes and this would be an odd backwards step, MNK does branch off PGL though.
- Stormblood is to MNK what Heavensward was to DRG, given the information provided, and the fact that MNK will be tied to the story heavily (Yda and Widargelt alone point to this fact, as well as the Fist of Rhalgr), this woman is very likely following that same trend.
- The announcement schedule does not add up (this one is less evidence, more assumption). The likelyhood is that we will get 2 jobs this expansion, and if this is the case then we will get an announcement of one in tokyo, one in germany, and we already know that the one announced at tokyo will be RDM (because scarlet witch). What this means is that if it really is dancer, then we will be waiting until Germany to find that out, and it seems strange for them to give this big tease and then make us wait all that time, why did they not tease RDM in the trailer? unless the better theory is that they are not teasing a job at all.
If this is dancer then wow, it's a very MNK-esque dancer.
Even if she exhibits skills uknown to the current monk skillset, the cap will be raised to 70 and new skills could be on their way. I'm gonna say it was cinematic as well.
I was listening in on that as I was running PotD, so my focus wasn't all there, but someone toward the end got the mic, and he said something along the lines of, "That lady in red you showed in the trailer, she uses a ribbon, and I just wanted--" and that's when you hear his friends (?) raising their voices, saying, "No, no, no!" So he comes up with a different question, about housing, I think. The guy with the beard up on stage, the one who held the bag of written questions (I forgot his name) made a comment about the guy suddenly getting cut off, but I don't remember what he said.
Sorry, not an acceptable answer apparently...
If it's in a cutscene, it has to be in the game exactly the same...and protect didn't have the exact same animation :p
Just one ? Ok, so now you don't even know how to count, great...
I don't know, maybe because it will be included in the revamped abilities so that it will be useful for a pure DPS...maybe you need to see the big picture...
Again, no fact where the answer can only be Dancer. It's called speculations.
Calling people salty and illogical just because they are speculating or have a different opinion than you is not just "sharing your thoughts". You are being passive aggressive. You aren't being as obviously rude as that poster you quoted because you are trying (and failing) to hide your extremely obvious disdain towards anyone who doesn't think exactly how you do.
That person's post was rude yes, but you really aren't any better. You are just trying to hide it behind less obvious insults. We get it. You don't want Dancer (most of the regular forum goers knows this by now since you post your disdain-filled "dancer is not happening" or "give it a rest it's not dancer" throughout every darn thread that even mentions speculation or Dancer).
It is totally fine to have your own desires. If you don't agree you don't agree. If you don't want Dancer no problem that is how you feel, but telling people to stop speculating and if they don't they are "illogical" or "salty" etc is just being rude and disrespectful. So if you want respect you might want to stop with the passive aggressive disdain you fling at everyone who doesn't agree with everything you think and say.
You can share the fact you don't agree without telling others they are salty, illogical, or should just stop talking about it. Try it?
People really need to not lash out at me just because I have a differing opinion. I've noticed on these forums that people lurk and band together to bash anything they don't agree with, which you think people would understand considering how Ihsgard treated heretics. You're doing a similar thing. Please reconsider bashing me just because I analyzed something you really wanted differently.
I choose to roll with the cheap argument of, "I may not be able to prove she's a Dancer, but you can't disprove it."
...Which, I guess is an argument people have rolling with for 26 pages now. Eh, nevermind. I would analyze the video and moveset and what-not, but that would be me trying to prove/disprove something I know nothing about. It's like trying to read a book that's not been opened yet. All we see is the cover of that book, and our eyes have yet to meet the first passage of Chapter 1.
EDIT: I see this term a lot, but... what is "shit posting?"
Other posters aren't lashing out at you because you have a different opinion, they're responding that way because you respond with stuff like this:
You're combative with your responses and clearly don't want to debate anything. Nearly every response from you in this thread (and others) has been along the lines of "I'm right, you're wrong, deal with it." You want people to stop reacting to you in a negative way? Clean up your own act to show that you're actually willing to hold a discussion, rather than getting upset at those who didn't take the declaration of your opinion on page one as fact.
I acknowledge that maybe my words don't always come out the way I hope, but if people could just understand that I'm not trying to bring anybody down, I wouldn't be upset in the first place. People also don't make it easy to debate when they pressure you into having to think a certain way.
You know i feel really sorry for the devs right now. They pretty much confirmed that red mage, the most iconic final fantasy job ever, is finally comming with stormblood and yet we have tons of threads discussing the mistaken assumption that the monk girl in the trailer is a dancer.
Well, to be fair they could have shown them using MNK AF like they did with the DRGs for the Heavensward cinematic. Instead they went super asymmetry with derplander and put a dancer-like outfit on the girl. That's messed with people's minds, and I get the feeling it's intentional.
That and the devs will probably get skewered anyways if it turns out RDM is going to be a refreshbot or something akin to that.
Estinian was also in the HW trailer, and this girl (Yda or not) is a MSQ character with presumably an NPC exclusive outfit (for now ).
Whether it is intentional or not it is doing good things for the devs by keeping the hype train rolling by our own doing, people are talking about stormblood, so of course they won't correct us until we have all of the information.
Man I'm so disppointed that people think it's a dancer lol it's red and she's moving around! Uh by that same logic Yang from FF4 is a dancer, literally take 3 minutes and watch the ff4 opening cinematic legit does the same "dance"
I find it funny how people are hoping that dancer was in the teaser trailer so your saying that your fine with it playing just like monk but mainly kicks?
It's pretty hard to tell from the trailer (assuming it is indeed a dancer) exactly how it will play.
I am fairly disappointed that you post your response to an argument that you either haven't read, or lack the reading comprehension to understand. Either that, or I'm disappointed that you purposefully reduced the opposing view point/argument.
This is nerve rekting to the extreme, I have my own opinions and it's leaning toward Monk. Why? Simply cause she uses what can be guessed as monk moves. There is no dancer in the game yet so the only thing I can see is monk. IF it isn't monk then they SUCK at making a different class cause it'll be just like monk like 80%. But I'm not going to melt my brain any more since it wasn't ingame graphics, meaning characters will do things you will NEVER be able to do ingame. It's a prerender movie to cause hype and get us to talk about it.. which in that sense it worked cause that's all everyone is talking about. They should've just said something instead of causing a mini fan war on the forums. :/
i wonder what happy to Miq'ue dancer will she be a dancer job instructer
So just wanted to share this to people who think DNC never plays like mnk.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2SH_mRqra0
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFVTqR-ZStw
Lots of punching and kicking o/
lol the video is not mine btw - just wanted to show dnc does kick and punch/ uses mnk weps.
Y'know, I really would love for her to be a Dancer. Both because A) Despite what some people say about her moves being mostly the same as a Monk, I think SE would be able to do some really creative animations for a Dancer in-game, and B) It would guarantee being able to wear that lovely outfit.
But to me, watching and rewatching the teaser, the single greatest piece of evidence that she's still a Monk is this. After her initial engagement, when the two face off to begin their spar, they take the exact same ready stance. I disagree with a lot of people going "Oh that's totally Meditation" or "Fists of Wind", or whatever other Monk technique they ascribe her motions to be. But that her opening stance is the same totally screams of using the same martial art as the obvious WoL Monk.
But wouldn't that just make it monk 2.0? Look I'm not against a dancer, but why do you want it to play like a monk? IF that's the case just give monk more moves and a break dance emote. Why bring a class that won't bring anything new to the table when all it's bringing is a monk 2.0? If dancer is going to be put into the game, I DON'T want it to play like a monk.. we already have monk. Make it play different completely than what we have in the game. Otherwise just give me more monk buffs.
You know the problem with this is that there was no healing in the prerender movie. So unless there is and we all missed it you can't say that as there is no dancer in XIV to make that statement. Second, you would be pulling massive amounts of BS to say Dragoon plays like monk... the only thing they have in common is the fighting system everyone in the game uses. And they are DPS.... they are completely different classes and can't be compared to the two fighting in the trailer. In the Trailer we clearly have two monk LIKE fighters. I ask again basing it on nothing but what we seen in the movie for XIV - not bringing other games into this as I'm only getting my info from XIV-. What in that trailer can dancer bring if she fights pretty much like a monk? Same stance and more or less shared moves? Why have dancer fight like a monk when they can be completely different? Why make it a martial artist when we already have one?
Again I'm stressing this... I'm not saying I don't want a dancer... but I do not want it to be what we can give a monk. If you wanna play a martial artist.. play monk.
I wonder why the devs won't just post and say what she is to clear it up? They usually correct stuff like they did with the HW opening movie.
Thats what I said on the last page. They are fking evil and wanted people to start a war here about that chick. She's most likely going to be a monk npc you follow around since the plotline is pretty much monk's story. Just like this one was Dragoon's story. But I may be wrong, but I just don't want a wannabe monk trying to say they aren't monk cause of 2 to 3 different moves when those moves could've been given to monks.
Why would they do that? Clearing up speculation one way or the other just spoils the surprise.
We're all just going to have to wait until a future Fan Fest to know for sure. If they announce two more Jobs, and neither are Dancers, then that's that.
If Dancer is a confirmed job, then we'll keep seeing speculation on if the girl in the trailer is one or not up until the point of her being a Monk is hammered in in the story.
I rather they clear it up as then this debate can stop and we can move on to other things we will be getting. But I was never a speculation kindof guy as I just want hard cold fat facts. Yes I'm no fun at parties and I'm a true stick in the mud. It's why I play video games 24/7 instead of looking for a girlfriend :D
:'(
I am sure you are fun at parties! All you need to do is bring your Nintendo Switch to the rooftop party and play with all your rooftop buddies.
That said, I agree with ZhaneX. I think this was very carefully planned to have us talking about it, and to keep us debating. That helps keep the hype alive until the next FanFest.
Drg and mnk do play similar. They have directionals. All melee are similar in a glance. Even Ninja can be considered remotely similar.
A melee dancer would bring buffs, similar to a geomancer. An ability to self-sustain the party up close. It would bring to the table different group set-ups. You are arguing that you don't want to see it play like a monk I understand that. But I'm telling you that in the trailer I see her fighting with clothing, slashing with flourish. Its a DNC move. I see her jig' which increases speed while you would see her feather foot which increases evasion. I see her in the trailer using more fluid movement. Something I haven't seen in FFXIV yet. It could be a new job but your asking to me just look as the trailer as it is and not something in the game. Well it's not something ...I see in the game. I don't know why martial artist is only in your eyes a mnk class. There are many different forms of Martial arts and it should not be exclusive. but that's just my opinion on it.
