Nope. Deep dungeon still pretty much instant.

The Games immersion was broken during the games 1st year of release during the 1st crossover event, then FFXI, then Dragon Quest, now we have yokai watch. And wasn't there a thread a few mounts back asking for Phantasy Star Online 2 crossover? For a game that "technically" doesn't exsist in the west yet? Or is ok as long as its FF series characters, hairstyles, glamours, etc.? Hell thats like trying to say that trying to jump off something and a invisible wall/barrier stops you and doesn't break immersion at all. (and you better believe there's going to be a FFXV crossover event too, so will that be exceptible?) Alot of people won't like this, I get where your coming from. But as I said. This games immersion was broken in the 1st few months that it came out and will be a contant thing but sadly for you, Trying to ignore it is the best that can be done.
Man, this entire thread is a riot.
On a more serious note, however... OP pulling the "you're not a true fan"-card was incredibly childish. I got into Final Fantasy as a whole back in 2013-ish, since the last time I tried a FF game I was much much younger and incredibly bad at losing, blaming the game for my death/s and discarding it like common trash. As a side effect of me getting over my scorn for Kingdom Hearts for exactly the same reason, I started giving these games some of my friends had been talking about for ages a go. And I ended uploving them, thus even going as far as getting a PS4 for myself after Christmas together with FFXIV. Said PS4 has been almost exclusively used for FFXIV since, I've gotten both artbooks, have the ARR Collector's Edition (because they were out of normal ones at the store after Christmas), I've gotten back into writing fanfiction because of this game.
Am I not a FFXIV fan simply because I got into the game late (in late 2014), or because I enjoy immersion-breaking things like silly events or running in circles for 3 hours to get every single piece of swimwear because we just got back from our trip to New England a few days ago, the jetlag settled, and the event was about to end?
Now, I do agree to a certain point - the lore of FFXIV is amazing and I want to see more of it. PotD especially made me want more, given how we pretty much ended everything with Ishgard for this patch's duration and we are on the waiting list for 4.0 now.
Now that the event itself has begun, I have to admit... They incorporated it pretty cleverly, actually lore-fitting, no matter how absolutely ridiculous everything looks. It'd make sense for these Yokai to be around SOMEWHERE on Hydaelyn, and since we have to basically lure them out to befriend them, well. I have to applaud how they melded together FFXIV and (what little I know of) Yokai Watch while being true to both games' settings in its own way. It's basically a crossover fanfiction done very very well, and I have to admit that made me laugh. It's very silly and lighthearted, but it feels right somehow (unlike last year's Hatching Tide... Augh, that was out of place).
Now, I don't care much about Yokai Watch, personally. Probably like a vast majority on the English-speaking part of the forums, probably like the majority of the Germany-based FFXIV-players like I. Does that mean I want the event to end immediately because I, personally, don't care and know that much?
No.
I know there's people VERY MUCH enjoying this, such as my friend. He's been up and at it for hours now, and he's about (or probably got it while I was typing this) to get his 13th minion, and probably rather close to his third weapon. He's taken a break from FATEs for a couple minutes to just scream about how much he loved the minions and feeding them at the FC Estate, which I had to admit was in both parts adorable and really really dorky.
Yes, people are gonna run around with that dumb mount, and maybe the minions for a while after the event concluded. Yes, it might break OP's immersion because they do look out of place, but you know what else looks out of place? The Dwarf Bunny minion, to name one. There's no actual bunnies seen in the game, they're only mentioned when compared to Spriggans once or twice. We don't see them, we know they exist - thus actually seeing one is hilariously out of place, or extremely rare.
Does that sound familiar to anyone who started the Event?
It's exactly the same explanation they used for the Yokai minions. Or well, maybe not exactly the same, but you get my point. By relating it to the Gold Saucer they made it even more of a silly fun part-time thing - no one's forcing anyone to gamble, let alone get wrapped up in some weird business relating to minions and then to creatures from another place.
Also, if you're so fixated on immersion for RPing, then maybe... I dunno. There's linkshells and the such. You can also not do the event and ignore the minions/mounts as well as you can, naturally after said event concluded because the grand majority of the playerbase are going to do this right now. It'll calm down eventually. You can also choose to do the event but not use it when you're trying to get properly immersed or are RPing. I guess.
As for the people screaming "PRODUCT PLACEMENT", tell me the Lightning, FFXI and the Dragon Quest events weren't product placement either. And the whole "as long as it's part of the Final Fantasy series" argument makes no sense whatsoever. FFXIII's universe, as much as I personally dislike it, it vastly differs from FFXIV's. FFXI might be similar in nature, but once you think about it more, both games start to appear different rather than similar. Dragon Quest, on the other hand, ironically enough might be the closest to FFXIV background-wise, but it is not part of the FF series at all.
Therefore, by that argument, it makes no sense at all for either of the former crossover events to have taken place at all. Yet they happened, pandering to people who have played these games and/or trying to net more customers by making the rest interested in FFXIIILR/FFXI/DQ.
Is that bad? Nah, that's just 2016 for you.
/rantover, I had to let that out before returning to my second anima, haha
Just so you know, all the Yo-Kai stuff was put in during 3.35, along with some Summer/Rising event stuff, IIRC... This maintenance/update was to adjust Palace of the Dead and correct some issues... SE could have canceled the Yo-Kai event, but this maintenance would still have occurred...
Four hours of not being able to play this game are such a big deal for you?
and, as you said yourself: "glam items" - so no, the sole purpose isnt only "advertisment" (which, again, this isnt - learn the difference between an add and a collab-event) but also adding in glamour, pets AND making changes to Palaca of the dead (aswell as hopefully/probably fixing some bugs etc.) If this is why you object to this event... phew... I'm looking forward to your threads complaining about the other events we will get this summer...
It's Atma 3.0 yippie .. but really my only bummed out bit of it is:
No I cant use my chocobo... :( Chocobo need exp too... Chocobo wants rank 20... Chocobo sad.
I dream of a world where Minions and Chocobos can live free together.
15 tokens is the cap on weapons and no there are no new fates for that event since it doesn't fall under seasonal. However some people complained that on their servers the original ARR content/world/fates are dead and it makes it hard for people to play the game when being new. So with the new free login campaign and to help these people out that are on lower pop servers, we are running through the old content to get our minions/mounts/weapons. Because making this event for the HW maps, where people could of grind not only the event items but also the relic crystals, would of been to much to ask for :)
While that may be true, for later in the week... on a Tuesday, after reset, queue times for Weeping City are generally a 5 minute max waiting period. Granted it did give me time to finish off the daily beastmen quests, I'm one who prefers to get the weekly lock content done as soon as possible so as not to forget and then run the risk of missing out on a drop. Selfish I know, but that's just the way I am.
I didn't say the event was specifically to blame here either, but it's easy to connect the dots to see where the majority of people are : FATE grinding for RNG content. I don't mind what people do, I really don't. I just get frustrated when I can't get something done during my set routine online is all.
That went right out the door when people realized some folks couldn't accept the fact that, ever since the Lightning event, the "alternate dimensions" excuse for promotional content opened Pandora's Box (for lore/immersion). If someone is concerned about immersion, that means they're of the RP mind. That doesn't mean they RP, just that they are of a similar mind for enjoyment. As someone of the RP mind, if they can't use their imagination a little to accept an already explained occurrence within the games world, they're not exactly a shining example of there objectively being a problem with immersion. At least within this game, they're not... since you RP/immerse within the official content and lore.
Well, glad you said it yourself so I dont have to point it out: Yes, that is a very selfish attitude and not a good ground to complain about "new" content being added... and with all due respect - getting frustrated because there is an "error" in your daily online routine is YOUR problem and shouldnt SE prevent from releasing new content for the game (I consider the minions/weapons new content - even if they make us do old content for them). The reason I mention this is that the "logical" conclusion for the negative feedback on this event ("We dont want this!!!") would be not to do anything like it again. And now you may say "But thats what I want!" - but hold on! You really dont want events anymore? What else do you not want anymore? Maybe its just me but I feel the game would lose so much if they'd listen to people being all like "I dont want that. And I dont want this either. Or that."
So maybe a change of attitude on your side and a bit of loosing up would be more in order than telling SE not to throw in events anymore ;)
[begin rant]
So being selfish in wanting to get something done is wrong? Where the Hell did I state, in any of my posts in this thread, that this event is terrible and for SE to stop doing them? Don't imply that I said that 'between the lines' either because I didn't. Honestly I don't even care about this event... I'm not for nor against it! You automatically see someone post their opinion and stance, then jump on them like a starving dog to a bone. Forgive me for having a set routine in place for when I play FFXIV. Forgive me for wanting to get things done. Forgive me for not jumping on the bandwagon and doing everything everyone else is doing because it's great.
[end rant]
Seriously though... I don't care about the events. At all. They may be fun and all, but I'm not fussed about them period. If other people like them, go for it and have fun. Just don't criticize those who either A: Don't like them or B: Just don't care good or bad regarding them. You made a baseless assumption that I was criticizing SE and the Event when I wasn't. If someone has their own personal agenda they want to complete in any game, then that is their prerogative and who are you to judge them for it? We all pay for our accounts and play how we want. If we want to do solo content, by all means. Want to do group stuff, go ahead. Jump headfirst into every event SE puts in, be my guest. However... you must at least acknowledge that not all players are of the same mindset as you and attack everything SE does. We all play differently than others. As I said before, I'm one who plays to a set routine... that's just who I am. A friend of mine, just does whatever they want regardless. You shouldn't criticize others for playing how they do if it does in no way affect you directly or indirectly. Otherwise, you're just as bad as everyone else attacking others just to feel good about themselves.
I love when the immersion is broken, that's why I have my character worship a character that isn't really in the XIV universe, I have him sacrifice crystals to try maker a primal out of her( It's Lightning btw, I LOVE HER!!!!!)
Too bad we don't have something like the mannequins in XI. Furniture items that are modeled after the races (both sexes avail), have a selection of poses, and that you can equip anything to, regardless of it not being possible elsewhere (e.g. Equipping a sword and board to a mannequin wearing BLM AF head (died) and WHM AF body. Given the capabilities of this game, it'd be nice if you could take it a bit further and maybe add hair/color options... I'd guess that would help you erect a shrine.
Except they all, to some extent, made sense (for both games). Shantotto learned how to travel dimensions thanks to a spell she accidentally learned in FFXI, at the very beginning of 'A Shantotto Ascension.' Dragon Quest X was mostly a reference, using XIV races for a monster (for ze puff puff), leaving golems being the only thing from the DQ franchise. Iroha is a questionable one, as it's unclear on just when she leaves XI to enter XIV (and it makes less sense the more I think on it). Lightning is also a questionable one... was she thrown into Eorzea by Etro? Bhunivelze? or was it all a 'dream' to her? (the event takes place between XIII-2 and Lightning Returns, when she was crystallised).
What is the story with the Yokai? How'd something that isn't even from a SE game/franchise wind up in Eorzea (I don't plan on doing the event since it's just Atma farm 3.35. I've done enough of that already)?
Well that's kind of why immersion and, thus, RP does not have to always need straight up explanation. Did we need a specific explanation as to why the Golems were there with the DQ event? Nope. Does it really need to be an SE game or affiliated to them to be able to believe it's a thing? That's an exceptionally high level of bias that defies the concept of immersion within a games world, not the real world.
I haven't started the event yet, but it really doesn't matter with the use of an imagination (the very source that empowers immersion). Hell, I could just throw a reason right off the top of my head that would fit right in given lore history for these things, assuming one is not given. Unusually shaped spirits have begun pouring into Eorzea, so now someone that has been studying dimensional rifts (or maybe just super natural phenomenon) turns to you to find out why they've appeared. To start off immersion or RP, does it really need any more than that? If it does, that's not using your imagination, that's being told exactly what to think to believe.
I don't roleplay, but I like lore. Most of the cameo events in the past have followed the lore of both games involved (it's why we'll never see Sephiroth, Kefka, etc. They're dead, thus will never appear). Does Yo-Kai Watch do the same? is all I'm asking.
It seems that in this event the yokai originated or at the least were discovered in doma, the event npc is a male raen au ra, it is fitting considering the fact that "demons/yokai" in several eastern cultures range fron helpful-harmful rather than simply being malicious, they are newly introduced to Eorzea, so overall in short yes there is lore and it fits well enough for a fun side event.
I would likely compare how much it fits to hildi and other such quests however XD I found it sort of amusing that the seedseers freaked over these.. things suddenly appearing in the twelveswood and sealed it in an allag soul jar..
Fair enough, though I figure most can be done solo apart from boss FATEs on a few classes without a chocobo. Though weapons 11, 12 and 13 look like they cost 30 tokens each, I think I'll pass on getting them all and focus on ones for jobs I might eventually level. You can gather atma while doing theses, so there's that. Usually got 1 atma for every 2 legendary tokens (10% and 20% drop rate?), not half bad if you want to do the original relic weapons for other classes still.
Per ff14net.2chblog.jp/archives/49173784.html
Weapons 11/12/13 are 30 medals each.
That's 225 medals, that aren't 100% drop, for largely glamour items. That is ridiculous. FATES are largely disliked by the NA community. FATES with RNG attached (Atmas/Luminous Crystals) are downright hated.
Was about to post that. LOLOLOLOL...no.
I'm a big fan of the Yokai Watch anime and find quality fun in it compared to other similar titles. I don't really care what people say about the event but complaints here and in-game regarding the event are very annoying. I'm having fun and I'm happy with that. If you don't like the grind or you don't like Yokai Watch, ignore the event and stop sapping the fun from other players.
There's an achievement for the at least. It's not a total waste.
It's optional anyway. If you don't like Yokai Watch, you probably don't want the items. If you do like it, you're probably willing to work for them. And if you don't wanna work for them, unfortunately you don't have a choice :/ Personally I want the weapon mount and all the glamours because I'm a total YW fangirl but that's just me.
So it's just "they happened to be here all along?" That's about as lazy as the event itself...
@Exalt: Technically, people may have a choice. Using the Lightning event as an example, SE will probably eventually release the minions and weapons onto the Mogstation (especially if people start requesting it once the event is long over). If people hate FATE's and Atma farming, but want a specific weapon and/or minion, then they will happily wait until they're on the Mogstation and then hand over money for them.
Oh man...
I hate farming ATMAs from FATEs >: (
Great concept for a new event T_T
I was planning on getting all the weapons but 30 medals for the last 3 is just plain mean.
