I need the maid and butler outfits in my life. SE, please bring those to every other region!
Same here. I feel like the "we're working on it" isn't a very concrete answer at all, we need something a little more definite and we're not getting so much as a "please look forward to it," just a "maybe." I'm not picky, I would even be perfectly fine with these items being region-locked to japan if it was understood that both NA and EU would be getting exclusives for our respective regions. I'm not really a big fan of the maid look and I already have the original fat choco, but it's the principle of it. Favoritism isn't nice, equality is.
Everyone, just remember that when Squeenix released these items as part of their campaign with 7-11, they may have signed some sort of exclusivity deal with 7-11. Considering that the 7-11 corporation in Japan is big enough to have ITS OWN BANKS and department stores, Squeenix's hands may be tied. They may WANT to give it to us (after all they can't say no to the Siren song of Mogstation purchases), but commercial legalise may be preventing them from doing so.
Give them some time. I'd be happy knowing that we'll get it *eventually*, and treating myself to the rare in-game appearances as and when we see them.
I'd honestly be happy to pay for it via the Mogstation, should they decide to release it that way outside of Japan. But I have a feeling it will take a while for that to happen so I'll just save my pennies and hope. Both the male and female attire looks amazingly pretty. Especially since the dress looks so lolita'esque from the back.
All we can do is wait and hope... ;-;
They have to choose their words wisely in cases like these (which isn't different than other occasions really). This isn't a simple internal matter for SE alone. This is a promotional partnership with another separate corporate entity where the intention is to draw attention to that other companies sales. The last thing you want to do is make it seem like its going to be significantly better for everyone but the people the campaign is for. You effectively make the other company into the bad guys by doing so. That would be one of the absolute dumbest things any business partnership in history could do.
WoW had a similar promotion, exclusive to the US, with Mountain Dew. Years later, everyone could access the item, likely due to the contract being long over with. The fact it was mentioned, for this game, that the other regions are being looked in to for the goods means they'll get it to us, but it's a matter of how and when, where the "when" is the most prominent part. If they can't arrange for some sort of similar deal in other regions, then it'll be a while until we get it... but the point is we WILL get it. Mog Station is the most likely source, but again, they can't just put it on there immediately. Contracts tend to be interesting like that, and cases like this are potential examples of whether or not someone truly understands what that means.
I understand the fear of not getting something that others can, I really do. But I also work among auditors and learn of many aspects in the corporate world because of that. Trust me, it's not as clear cut and simple as many people want to believe. At least, it's not if you're trying to actually be fair to everyone, be a good business partner, and/or avoid breach of contract.
Please make this outfit available in NA!!! OMG I will die if we don't get the outfit in a similar timeframe as our lovely Japanese counterparts!
Really...? Now mounts are jp only? Way too screw minion and mount collectors that go the extra mile to be 100%... so tired of promotional bs. And you know NA/EU or other regions won't get exclusive mounts that jp doesn't get... which shouldn't even be a thing anyway. Why separate any video game item by region? Seems like there is no common sense to this. If it is promotional for cash and greed reasons, why not present it to everyone in the online world in some form or another. More consumers means more cash. Keep region exclusive junk to accessories if you must do it. Unless they just want to piss off all non jp players? I just don't get it...
Because they are trying to (Key word: Trying) but 7-11 is a case of Germans Love David Hasselhoff in Japan. They can't pull the same event here with estern locations becuase they are the kind of pit stops you'd find at Gas Stations, they might try this for GameStop (a bit closer to the playerbase) or Walmart/Target or maybe Starbucks (If they are going for a similar method to Japan) or if they fail to secure the rights to do this type of promotion in the west they might just put it in the Mog Station for the same price they price their usual stuff, to they might decide not to do it at all because of entitled paranoiacs thinking that just because Japan gets it first it means that everyone else won't get it at all (But of a self fulfilling prophecy there). It could go many ways
Well if they had better communication with all the regions as they released it in japan and told us they will release it in the future in our regions or timed releases at the same time fairly. This wouldn't be a problem and I wouldn't feel the need to voice so strongly against SE promotional bs but they didn't, so yeah.
They can't do that for PR reasons. At least, they can't if they don't have something planned that involves a similar means, as far as going out of your way to get it and cost is concerned. I think it's safe to assume that they don't have a partnership with other region businesses for this, but who knows... could just be in talks, if anything. An eventual Mog Station release is the likely outcome a long time from now.
If the campaign is targeted at one demographic, would you really think it be a good idea to let them know that everyone else across the world is going to get the same thing but likely in an easier (and probably cheaper) way? Even if that ease ends up being the case, you DON'T want to tell the target audience they're going to have it worse than everyone else before it even happens.
I'd imagine that in the west, it's a little harder since it's not considered the norm for just any game to tie itself to something unrelated. I mean, look at what co-promotions we do get in the US. It's all AAA games or extremely popular ones (like WoW). There's no way SE would fork over that kind of money for a game like XIV, as it's pretty obvious no one is approaching them for it. I'd imagine peripheral related companies might be good with it, like Logitech, Razer, or NVIDIA, but that'd be a far more expensive campaign to us and a bigger risk to them, compared to something as simple as spending a couple bucks to get some points (though in total, you'd be looking at maybe $30 or more to get all the things you want).
SE please bring these items over to NA/EU qq .. I would be happy to pay them via mogstation
Personally, my salt is that I live in Japan, and have for the past 6 years, but because I can't get approved for a credit card in Japan, I have to use an American service account...
Completely miss out on both promotions if they do a buy type thing like they're doing here when they NA release it.
I was really pissed when they announced you had to have a JP service account, and while I understand their reasoning, it completely screws over foreigners living here long term.
They should do a cross promotion with Blizzard and World of Warcraft. Because I know the JP players won't get squat ... lol. /sarcasm
(JP players routinely get screwed with many Blizzard games, the latest being Hearthstone, and I'm sure there's instances of these things happening a lot with other titles, and other players in different regions as well)
I want all those things OP: the mount, the clothing. If I had to buy a ton of soda, I'm not going to drink, I would do it anyways.
i really hope we get it SOON, not like 1-2 years later .... ._.
Thing is, I get what you've been saying, but if they can't at least settle our concerns then they actively put themselves in this position. They would have had to do their research before signing anything. They knew how much of the player base this would effect and they still went through with it despite the restrictions it would put on them, and knowingly without having any concrete plans for the non-Japanese side of things outside of releasing the statement, "We're working on it." You can argue that they've got all these restrictions now, but contractual agreements don't just pop up at random. It's a two-sided relationship.
Yup. Or you can get those webmoney cards as well. But, every 7-11, Lawson, Family Mart... all carry XIV time cards for 30 and I think 60 days too.
I have a Japanese credit card, but I've been in Japan since around 2007. It took a couple of tries to get one... after 2 years of living here. =.=
I just realized today that I get one code for each bottle, time go buy 26 more bottles of water, lol! I bought 2 at first because I misread the point per bottle thingy. :/ It's 108 yen per bottle or $0.96. (~121 Yen for the flavored water stuff)
EDIT... oh they also are now stocking Orange Coke. http://imgur.com/a/hIM2b << FFXIV stuff and Orange Coke!
Can we please have the dress
The Problem I see here is if they do a mirror promotion like 7/11 here but limited 7/11 everywhere in NA/EU couldn't they just have separate businesses that are popular per region? it doesn't have to be 7/11 like maybe Walmart or McDonald's for NA and EU another highly populous company? I've never been to Europe so I'm not sure what is the most in terms of stores there that are the most made in areas.
This is simply not going to happen.
Japan is a tiny country where an in-store promotion can work, but they will never attempt to do something similar in diverse and much larger regions where most people don't even know FFXIV exists.
The items will come to mogstation or not at all.
I think you'd find that the "most common store" is different in different countries of EU. Meaning SE would have to negotiate, what... 50 or so different contracts? Just to make it equally available for each EU country. It's probably the same situation for NA, with not only Canada and US having different "most common store"s, but also the different states in the US being potentially unique. So Seisha is most likely right in that SE would prefer the easier route of making it available on the Mogstation... after an appropriate period of time has passed since expiration of their current 7-11 contract.
I didn't even know they had 7-11's in Japan. I stop there every day for morning coffee, I'd be up to my eyeballs in fat chocobos O.O
Saw someone on Gilga with the dress and, like, 20 people standing around looking at them, LOL. I think everyone was trying it on and getting sad.
This is what I'm imagine

As a consumer that's not really my concern. What is my concern is that they would release a Japanese only event with exclusive items unavailable to the other giant segment of their consumer base. It's not really winning them any favors outside of Japan to exclude a giant portion of their consumer base.
Not that I'd buy this I still think in principle they have shot themselves in the foot with a damned if they do damned if they don't situation. They can't break whatever exclusive deal they have with 7/11 Japanese branches and they can't please the consumers they mindlessly left out. I'm just pointing out what a silly idea it was to release a regional event like this with what should be well known to the developers to be an item the entire player base would clamor for.
Just saw two male Miqote on Zodiark with the butler gear, the crag mask and the white fat chocobo. I'm heartbroken D: They turned up to an S rank and everyone was more focused on the Miqo' instead of the S rank.
My concern is that they didn't mindlessly leave us out. They had talks with 7-11, they talked among themselves, they met with lawyers, etc., more than likely they pulled all the numbers and did their research. Something gave them the impression that they could afford to leave us out. That's the thing that really gets to me about this, and even though people keep saying we'll eventually get them, I just don't see how they'd be able to give us the same sort of events with the cultural differences between NA and EU so they'll likely just end up waiting out the contract and then throwing them up on the mogstation... Which would allow the JP to enjoy a timed exclusive while we have to deal with players begging on the forum until a contract ends, which I still find extremely insulting. :/
Surely the fair solution is to put them up on the US/EU mogstation only (including non-EU folks on EU accounts of course) but only have them available for a few weeks to mirror the exclusivity of the 7-Eleven deal? Then everyone who misses it, no matter where they live, will be equally annoyed but everyone has a chance at the time. Then those who missed out can campaign and the goodies will get a global mogstation release in a couple of years when 7-Eleven has stopped caring.
I swear I'm one of the only people on my server not riding a white fat chocobo at the moment (lol).
Also, I keep almost typing "7-Elezen" :(
See, I wouldn't have complained if they'd just done this. They could even charge a little extra if they needed to, as we'd essentially be paying for the the benefit of being able to just buy them instead of participating in an elaborate promotion, and then reduce the price to something a little more fair once the contract is up. I might not have bought them, but plenty would and I'd at least feel like I had a fair shot.
Let's just hope they add it to mogstation once the promo ends and not a year later. >_>
@よしださん, we still waiting for the maid dress to available for all players ^_^

お願いします。
Apparently Yoshi-P said something about setting up a contract? Which imo doesn't sound like a good thing at all considering if it's another 7-Eleven Collab a massive chunk of the NA/EU player base is gonna be outta luck, I still think bringing it to the Mogstation will make just about everyone happy and it's the easiest and fastest way for this to happen.
That may be true... But there's already some sort of region check, to get them to show prices in YOUR region's pricing ($, £, € or ¥), so even if it might take a bit of coding to add a "region check" to optional items, I think it's very possible. (It also might be faster and cheaper than trying to negotiate some kind of contract with every US state and every EU country, plus non-US and EU countries that have players in them...)
Unless, of course, that's just simple localization, like with the SE store.
If nothing else, they wouldn't need to restrict it once the JP campaign is over. I think the last day to use those 7-11 codes were some time early May, right? It's the first already, so even if they weren't going to implement it right away, they could still inform us soonish that at [future date, say... July, or August, or whatever], those items will be available from the Mogstation. It might be a pain to wait, but at least we'd know, right? We wouldn't have to walk around in some kind of limbo of "when will we be able to get them, how will it be done, or will they just.... forget about it?" anymore ^^;
For all we know... SE has already said it will become available to non-JP players eventually (in the same live letter where they announced the JP campaign, IIRC). So in my eyes, that kind of says they didn't hand over those rights to 7-11 Japan.
Yes, we don't know exactly what kind of contract they have with 7-11, but like I said, I doubt it's one giving distribution rights of said items to 7-11 indefinitely.
