For me and some of the people I've spoken with/seen express their concern (which I realize isn't even a fraction of the community) it's not really the grind it's self. It's the amount of grind for the very little reward. The stats alone make the grind not worth it and then factor it in with how fast he kills content/gear. It's just really silly how this was done. If he plans on keeping the item relevant that helps a bit. However he really needs to add some more impressive stats.
I just dont understand.
Why does this require poetics and crafting at the very end? I have no intention to ever craft at all, like ever. I also never plan to pay someone some outrageous price even with an FC discount/friend discount for said items. I also do not plan to run something that is pre-expansion crap just to get outdated tokens called poetics. So I guess I can say thank you SE for at least screwing me out of the relic.
Honestly - the developers need to react quick to this one. I think they broke the camel's back with this one (people are beyond pissed).
There needs to be an emergency maintenance and the requirements need to be drastically reduced. They need to do this before some poor soul exceeds the revised requirements.
Nope, I am done. I am refusing. If others get it, great. I am not paying 5mil+ per item. Sorry but it is not worth it. I can dungeon grind all day and night and have fun. I can grind fates and have fun.
I will not however support overpriced crafters charging and arm and a leg for one item, let alone 16 of them. Requiring crafting items without ANY OTHER way to obtain them in game is what killed this for me. Thanks SE, you not only require outdated non-expansion crap called poetics, but you also require us to again support over priced items from the already rich crafters. This almost makes me want to unsub. Thanks but I will spend my 15 mil on three small personal houses instead and be happy with my ilevel 200 eso daggers.
Last I looked, crafters were never required before to gear out my character and I will never support a system that makes that so. Unless of course you plan to let crafters make the best gear in the game. So thanks SE you screwed me over.

take your "new" relic-weapons with you and let them never come back again!

Talk about killing the content.. I wonder how much time was spent planning and developing lords of verminion.. I haven't checked it out, don't really plan to, but I don't know how much of the playerbase did (or plans to), but now that everyone will be neck deep in the relic grind..
Relics totally should have been more important than verminion ._.
Who wanted to do extreme trials or new trials? 800 Alex, encouraging people to buy from gil sellers, bot fates, law and poetics farming, 1 million allied seals, 1000 beast quests, now that's real accomplishment worth of a legendary item.
So much complaining, and they really arent even that bad.

Did the devs seriously think that they could put forth ZERO effort into this quest line and people would be okay with that? I mean, I'm completely baffled by this... I am going through art school for game design and all I hear is "You have to be the very best if you want to compete in this industry!" Then, I come home and read this crap... Well, it would seem that all I have to do is hit Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V to claim a high end pay check...
I see absolutely nothing that even suggests they tried to be creative, or think of a fun way to incorporate these.
Plus, think about this little gem... the relic quests were delayed from 3.1 to 3.15... Why? What in these quest lines required so much effort that they had to be delayed? This is the glorious content that required a delay to finish?

I will NEVER be ok with supporting over priced items from crafters without ANY OTHER WAY to obtain said items in the game, such as the above mentioned things I would be willing to do for a relic weapon.
Just remember guys, Yoship wants to turn the expansion release rate into annually. We're behind schedule but if he sticks to it, there will only be Alex set 2. That's roughly 6-8 months. You have about that long to enjoy your new relics. Get to it!

I wish mods would merge all the relic threads, its always like this on the NA forums, 15 million threads on the same subject... its rediculous
Honestly I dont blame the crafters. The amount of work to craft each item and it has to be HQ is really difficult, plus you practically have to have it as a specialist inorder to get it to be HQ.
I do think the requirements need to be lowered. At the rate it is now. When 3.2 comes out people will only be about halfway done with the requirements, and then probably done by 3.3
Honestly is just a form of a bad excuse for lack of content and a way to let people mindless playing the game while grind for months....

They could make hardcore or even 24 man dungeons for the sole purpouse of the relic, they could give it a better storyline.

Thats abuse with their players, and i don't think i will renew my sub anymore because of how square is handling their things.
Why can't they develop "relic skills" that are special skills, that you need to do all sort of quests to develop it? The weapon itself doesn't even look that great if it was a full set maybe would be worth something, if it give some special skill , maybe it was worth.
Is just not worth.
This seems really excessive, even when thinking about last expansion's relic quest. I expect grinds, I expect to be doing similar things week after week, day after day, but this feels like it's going to take way longer for most people than it should. It honestly doesn't feel worth it. Something like this doesn't just turn me off from the quest, but from this mmo in general.
I honestly wanted the relic quest to be "fun" at least, I don't mind if there's a grind...but I don't see anything fun in that last step.

Hue hue hue....I cant lie i laughed this morning as I read what was required of the last step. Laughed as I said "Nope...nope nope nope nope nope...nope"
It is sad really. I had kinda thought SE would make it a grind but not requiring poetics and crafting materials. Yeah I am passing on this until it is nerfed if it even gets nerfed. What a huge letdown.
I could deal with the grind of law/poe mixed in with some alex item turn ins, but the crafting part is just... ugh.
The dev who decided to put the crafting BS back into the relic quests needs to be taken out behind the shed and shot.
I pity anyone who defends this new quest or even finds it fun. It must be awful to live with such low standards. At this point the team could not add any new dungeons or raid in 3.2 and have eso tomes farmed by completing 100 FATEs for 1 tomestone, and people would still defend it with the meaningless "don't do it then!" or the always classic "it's optional!". But by all means, enjoy your new quest and, if I may give a suggestion, hand SE the code to your bankaccount while you're at it. They love mindless sheep like you. Jesus smurfing christ on a pogo-stick, mankind is in a sorry state indeed if we have people defending this form of legal customer-torture.
Tbh, it sounds like less of a "heres something to do during downtime." And more "this is all you can do until the next step, when it will be all you can do again."
It wouldn't be so bad if there were some kind of story or point to it. But when they go "hey lets combine atma(only more) with a few hundred alex runs, amongst other things, for one piece of gear out of eleve you equip" its just bs filler.
I mean how do you justify the delay for this kind of thoughtless filler content. What is it, six months from 3.0 release, and this is what they come up with? They could have at least wrote a story into it...
I don't mind for a second working for it, but make it fun, not burn out material. I also get that they use it to get people into content that needs more traffic, but they may have crossed a line into abusing that tool.
Honestly, they could have doubled the amount of content in 3.0 and 3.1 and it wouldn't have mattered. It would have taken 2 weeks to mow through it instead of 1 week. They gave us something that can't be completed in a week and people cry super hard. Even harder than i was expecting you guys too and i was expecting a lot of tears . With as casual as the content is theres no way they will be able to add enough, even with double the staff and double the content. If you don't want to do the relic and your done with all the raids, dungeons, and story. Then by all means go back to not logging in like you were before, and pretend the relic never existed. But if your older than 12, grow up! You don't have to act like a total ass and call people names on your way out.
I saw how easy the new relic was and decided I'll just keep going on the old one. A few extra steps and one month (at worst) won't kill me. I don't know what everyone else wanted... Time for power sans the rng. I'm ecstatic!
You know all these people saying "If you don't like the grind, stop". No one is complaining about a grind.
It's the same crap as 2.0. Why do it again?
It should be different. Maybe solve a hard puzzle, do some hard boss fights. Have a storyline for each relic rather than some bland blacksmith say "here you go".
Have unique dungeons that you can only do if you have the relics. Give the relics unique abilities like Blms get to use Comet when staff is equipped. God damn is it really that hard to think of this.
Not the point. I have roughly 15 mil that I am saving to purchase three private small houses in the next week. I have made 40 mil from march of this year till now without a crafting or gathering class at all.
I do not care how easy it is to make money. I DO care about supplying crafters for overpriced stuff for a relic. These should have been able to be gotten all in game without relying on crafters, PERIOD!
I do not mind a time grind. That would have been ok. I am ok with t he alex grind, even the pointless, stupid, non- relevant old Poetics grind. I am NOT ok with on top of all of that crap that will take MONTHS to accomplish, I also have to make 5+ mil PER ITEM just for my relic. I would say 2-3 months worth of having to grind obsolete content + new content enough time put in to get a relic without the needed step of a crafter.
I make 5mil every 2-3 weeks. So how many items are there? What 4-5? Lets say 4 for arguments sake. Lets also be NICE and say all crafters will charge ONLY 5mil per item (We all know that these items will be closer to 10mil per item). That is 20mil gil to get. So again being nice and saying EVERYTHING sells on my 2 retainers and I make 5 mil every two weeks thats......8 weeks. So on top of the already 2-3 months worth of the initial grind I now have another 2 months on top of that? So roughly almost HALF A YEAR for me to get my relic.......Not acceptable.
(Disclaimer, I will NEVER craft in this game. Its lame and a sorry excuse for crafting so I refuse. Its boring and pointless)
Just think they could have made it where you needed to use eso to buy a new base relic weapon that you had to spirit bond to 100% then convert it via NPC for a RNG low % chance at a new Anima Materia to progress in quest. And then to bond it you had to get materials that were Key Items as a 10% RNG grind chance clearing the lvl60 dungeons. Then after that was done with your new melded relic in tow you had to go and do 10 new tomes (books) to strengthen the relic and do HW fates, mobs, and dungeons. After that the final stage would have been to trade 1,000 brass skypirate spoils for 1 gold skypirate spoil and you had to have 10 gold skypirate spoils to trade to Rowena for a new Key Item to enhance the relic to it's current final stage. :3
