It's unfortunate, but it is what it is. Just gives me more time to farm esoteric gear and my level my miner. Might have to buckle down and get serious about it finally!
I could care less about the patch release date. However, from a BUSINESS/CLIENT point of view, saying you'll delay product for one month because your team needs a vacation is just crap.
If Netflix sent you an email saying that you'll have no new releases for the next two months because their Acquisitions team will be off to relax would you be OK?
I haven't read the entire agreement we signed, and although I'm pretty sure a specified amount of time for content update is not in writing, delaying product because your team is taking a vacation is not something you say to costumers. Problem is probably Square Enix and not the XIV team though; from what it seems they are still a small team of super overworked people despite the huge success of this game.
My, there must be a lot of ppl playing this game when asked, "what did you do with your 2015 summer?" Reply with, "gorged on an mmo to the point that I'm so mad the devs are taking their own summer vacation". Honestly, the man hours in play here to have done all this game has to offer shows nothing more than most ppl here need to do more with their time.
Truthfully I'd be fin with the wait I really would. But what I'm not fine with is that they just made the same kind of dungeons and raids. This is the problem with them making stuff so simple and straight forward to make it so people who only have say 1-2 hours a day to play.
2.0 saved ffxiv. 3.0 they should have taken a risk to add something different to the base expansion. But they didn't that's what people are mad at.
Everything's the same. I'm happy the Devs wer able to take a break but why would you do the same dungeon raid type as 2.0. I mean it's good that you made a story mode for a raid I know people love story's. But in my opinion its one of the worse waste of resources. I would have much rather not have savage if the normal raid was much longer and more rewarding.
Well....that's a lot of time to stockpile even more gil.
lol
Kinda disappointed, but at least the game isn't as distracting the way it is right now. I might even get to play through some of my steam backlog of games.
While I have been eagerly awaiting to step into (onto?) the Void Ark, the bright side is that I have more time to catch up on gearing my main job. Between a hdd that died & now a possibly dying mobo, as well as Diablo season 4... which I still need to finish objectives for if I want that pet... it's been slow going for me.
Okay, I've also been working on the Draenor Pathfinder meta...
Also, the men and women who work on this game need vacations, too.
Personaly I like it this way, I was planning on taking a break to play my other games and this way, I will not be left behind. :)
I find duty finder to be one of the most annoying things in the game. Seperating a raid wait I'm sorry we don't have raids what we do have is 4 different higher difficulty short dungeon trials is pretty boring. Everything has to be scripted because everything gets added to duty finder.
So... I wonder if this means 3.2 will be less than a 3-4 month wait...
Ferox's post is best one I've seen on the subject. Pretty much sums up how the dev team actually work really hard and produce more content than the rest of the industry in general, despite some people thinking it's not real content if it's not endgame battle stuff. But yes it would be nice to be able to repeat story content such as main scenario battles and job/class quests on a higher difficulty with rewards attached since the story is one of the best things about the game and at the moment it's just once and done.
Coming from WoW where patches were always 6 months to a year and a half apart, 5 months still feels like a blessing, so I have no complaints personally.
the devs really deserved that break.
it's not everyday you get a reskin of exactly what you had before and add flying mounts to it.
Meh, it is what it is I suppose. I was expecting the patch to come out late October, so early November isn't too bad...at least for me. I'm also aware I'm spoiled with how often they release patches. I do think they should hire some more people or something...I dunno lol.
I've been playing since launch, but I've neglected a ton of content...so that's what I'll be doing in the meantime. I really wish they would consider releasing the new relics before 3.1 though, that would give people something to do. Might have stopped some of the complaining too. :P
Grow up. Go out.
First off, you're going way off topic.
Second off, gender has nothing to do with this game, there's girls in my static and they're sick of having nothing to do as well, so much that we all just play other games, we were really hoping for a sooner release date for 3.1, but November is insane, if you have things to do outside of the game, that's totally fine, enjoy yourself, but please understand, for some of us, this is where we go to play with our friends and hang out, real life is aggravating, I don't need this game that I play for fun to become static and aggravating as well.
Maybe it never crossed your mind, but perhaps I've been ignoring all of that and focusing on just one thing at a time for a couple hours every other day or so. With the extended interval between 3.1 it means I can slack off more on the main and do something else in game, or spend more time elsewhere. The list of things to do is excessive because there are some folks who will complain about not having anything to do from a lack of new content. I can find things to do, there is plenty of content. I just find that hard to believe for the most that there's nothing to do in game or that there's nothing else to do between long updates. Assuming I'm or anyone is going to devote all free time to do all that or more in game means you probably need a break more than I do.
I personally don't think it's fair for SE to make a "theme park" MMO (which has been described to me as something that's easy and anyone can pick up) and charge for it. If SE wants to make a game you pay for, they better keep you busy and coming back for more. 2 months out of 3 (between patches) is spent waiting for the next round of content to come out. I KNOW Yoshi P said he wants this game to be easily accessible and if people are bored, they should play something else but some people actually want to spend time in an MMO and SE doesn't make content for those people. Take my money for 3 months and leave me bored after 1. Idk, seems sketch.
Don't worry. All of the people who just can't stand the thought of the extremely hardworking development team, who sacrifice their lives, and time they could spend with friends and family, or enjoying life in general, but instead sacrifice their time to develop more content for us, would respond with very similar complaints if there were an extremely deadly earthquake/tsunami scenario which obliterated Japan and killed millions of people. They would be here, on the forums, Q.Q'ing about how they aren't going to get any new content and stating that the dev team should have prepared and set up another HQ office, avoided being caught in a natural disaster, and have preplanned to be in a safe location so they could continue to sacrifice their lives to develop new content for a game that these butt hurt individuals obviously care so much about, but have decided to post here how they are so utterly disappointed and angry that they have to wait an additional month, or a little more, to get new content.
It's sickening. It really truly is. Be thankful we have a dev team that are so dedicated and hardworking that they give us updates with new content on a pretty consistent 3 month basis. Enjoy all that great gear you worked so hard to get and don't worry so much about how you can quickly replace it with something better. Go enjoy life. Spend time with friends and family. Enjoy other games, other hobbies. Do something you enjoy while you wait for 3.1. Most importantly, please respect the fact that the dev team are human too, and after all that they given us, after all the sacrifices that they've made to get us to where we are now, after all the time in their lives that they didn't get to use to spend with their loved ones because they were working extremely long shifts busting their asses to please a bunch of gamers, please show some respect for these guys rather than thinking of all the mean things you can think of to say about how you're so upset that as a company they decided to allow their employees to take a vacation which is going to delay a content patch by an insignificant amount of time. One month. Or was it one and a half? Either way. That's not that long. You'll be ok. There are other things to do with your time. Pick out one or more of those things and occupy yourself until 3.1.
Also, to all the people who say, "If my company did this everyone would be fired!!!!" Guess what? It's not your company. The dev team will be back in full force when they get back from vacation. The world will continue to rotate on it's axis and revolve around the sun. If any of the people here who have posted such negativity decide to quit and never come back. Well best of luck to you in your future endeavors. I'm sure some people will miss you, but the choice is yours to make. Honestly, your best bet may just be to take a break. Take all the time you need. Come back when there is a wealth of content for you to enjoy. Oh, and please, chill out. A lot of us will really enjoy not having our gear, or our content become irrelevant for a little longer. A lot of us need time to catch up. A lot of us don't have hours upon hours to play every single day and could really use, and enjoy, the extra time to enjoy the game and level other jobs, or gear our mains. I for one am happy to have more time before the next patch. I'm one of those who don't get to play as often as I would like and I have fallen behind and do need to catch up. However, even if I was capped on everything with nothing at all left to do, out of respect for the dev team, and appreciation for the game, and world, that they have allowed me the opportunity to enjoy, I would be happy for them, and hope that they thoroughly enjoy their vacation. Who knows when they'll get another one?

No one is saying people don't enjoy life. We absolutely do. I guarantee you 95% of people's frustration comes from a place of passion. We all LOVE this game but we're also being critical of it cause it doesn't offer enough to do to call enjoyable content. Final Fantasy XIV is a beautiful game and I want to support it 100% but everytime I try to log on and play, there's nothing to do. Like with all things not worth your time, you leave it aside. And I feel like this game is best left like that. If you KNOW you're gonna be bored with it months down the line at the next patch, just... stop.
Meh, update seems ok. Imma cancel and go back to final fantasy 11
I am amazed how something as tiny as a month or two delay on a patch could cause such chaos on the forum.
Do people really have nothing else to do then to play ARR (or complain they dont have anything to do in it).
i really dont care how much time they take in the new update but its funny how people say Dev teams sacrifice themselves for us... its their Job no a sacrifice for humanity, it's like saying i sacrificing myself to make potable water to the city when i work as Water Plan Operator working 12+ hours.
It confuses me quite a bit as to how you can translate, "I have more time to finally start working on these other aspects of the game", to, "I've completed everything in the game and have no life". Do you just assume that all lists of content within the game are lists of what that person has completed, ignoring the whole "I have the chance now to..." at the start of that person you so needlessly attacked's paragraph?
The fact that your post had question marks in it indicated that you were, indeed, asking questions.
The comment about boys seems completely non-sequitur, but okay.
You don't think asking someone "A life, do you need it?" along with all of your other questions in response to them giving a list of things they'd like to accomplish ingame is an attack? They outright said that's a list of things they'd still like to do.
Eh, I'm outta this thread. They will probably close it the way its going. Good luck! <3 :)
Give it a rest guys. Unsub during october to show them that youre bored and not fine with the speed of new content.
Complaining here wont do anything good, they were already on vacation and complaining wont make the patch come faster.
If SE sees that the majority unsubs because the time between 2 content patches is too long, they might consider hiring more devs for faster patches.
