When/Why were you vote kicked?

I've been getting kicked from a1n a lot because my way of tanking is better than the videos.

It's hilarious. Tanks can not fathom the possibility that you can just tank the oppressors where they fall, pull them out a bit, and you're good. NO THEY MUST BE ON TOTAL OPPOSITE ENDS OF THE ARENA ALIGNED NORTH AND SOUTH.

One time i got kicked because the dps missed all the missiles. Obviously this was my fault for tanking two feet to the left of where they wanted me.

I got a good one. It's a doozy, but I think it's worth telling the whole story.

I Q'd for A2 Normal as Pld. Other Tank was a War. We had a couple of new Dps, so it was slow going. We kick off, and I notice right off the bat that the War is not tanking anything. He never leaves Deliverance (not rare these days, I know) and doesn't use a single enmity generating move. No Over Powers. No Provoke. He rarely even uses Butchers Block. I end up Tanking everything (literally) between the front door and the Final Room. It was a little annoying, but no big deal. I was over-geared anyway.

We get to the final room, and I ask the other Tank, "north or south?" To which he replies (and I'm not joking here): "AoE." Before I can even ask what the hell that means, he takes off and starts the fight. He, again, does not use a single enmity generating move and loses aggro to the healers right off the bat. I run in and save them. The next wave comes out and, again, he doesn't tank anything. South add gets picked up by the healer, and I have to voke it. Next wave comes out and, again, he doesn't bother to do any tanking. I have to pull both south adds to save the healers. I'm irritated by this point, but it won't be the first time I've solo-tanked A2; so, I just go with it.

The problem starts when the Dps prove to be too slow to kill all the enemies before the next wave comes out, even with the War doing "AoE." We have 2 noobs, so it's not surprising. We get to the doll wave, and, by this point, I'm tanking 2 dolls, 2 giant spider tanks, and a crap ton of little guys. On top of that I have enough vulnerability stacks to sink a fleet of ships. I eventually go down, because there just isn't enough defensive CD's for that kind of crap. The War (not surprisingly) still refuses to tank anything. Healers go down, quickly followed by everyone else. Wipe. Reset.

I say, "so, 'AoE' means that I'm tanking everything?" Other tank says, "correct." I say, "fine, but if we're gonna do it this way you have to kill mobs faster. They're overlapping." To which the group responds by vote-kicking me. No joke. I literally tanked everything while the other tank derped around the entire time, and they kicked me. I would have been furious if I hadn't been so flabbergasted by the astounding level of stupidity being displayed by that group.

We kicked a BLM yesterday in a Pharos Sirius HM run, but because he was always loosing its Internet connexion. After three time, we decided the guy must do something about it ;)

But I rarely vote for a kick, except for Internet connexion case. Sometime, in 8-players trial/primal, some dudes don't like the Tank or the Healer, so they start a kick vote. But in general, in this kind of run where a dude blast another dude, some chain reaction provokes chaos, and the run finish with a Abandon vote. Lol!

The last time I´ve been kicked from a game was around 2004 playing "Enemy Territory" being accused of aimbotting.
On the other hand there almost never was a reason to kick s.o. in FF14 beside beiing offline or permaafk. Might have been faster if you kick some random derp but you can almost ever drag him through.

That's about the only logical reason that I can think of for why that might have happened. If the rest of the group were using it as an excuse to leave the duty, then all the power to them. I can't blame them for wanting to leave that mess, and I actually feel sorry for the 2 new people who had to deal with that as their first ever run of A2. On the other hand, if they were just being pissy because I pointed out that the Dps was slow, then I can't imagine they cleared that raid after I was gone. Slow Dps is slow Dps. Replacing a tank wasn't going to help them compensate for 3 waves overlapping, especially when the tank that they kept was basically window dressing to fill the party.

I went straight Leeeeeeroy Jenkins in the Praetorium as a Dragoon once. I was a bit over hyper and decided to "race" everyone to the end because these days that dungeon is a joke. So after leaving the party behind by jumping on the elevator first, and then pulling Nero before the tank could. I eventually got kicked.

It was fun i'll admit, was the kick justified? Maybe....??? Was it worth? absolutely.

Riddle me this, I was playing as an archer and as we were waiting for our healer to get out of a cutscene the other dps and tank were interacting with my character though emotes. The tank pet me and the dps "couldn't understand me" or something. So we went on and the dps went to chat, "Fenris are you alive or are you beep beep boop boop", no idea what she was talking about but I went into chat and typed in a quick "What?" reply, its hard to talk on ps4. She never replied and the tank just literally shrugged at me and we continued on. A few minutes go by and the dps takes to chat again, "not attacking right, no crystal" and within seconds I was kicked. I'm completely baffled by why I was actually kicked. What was she talking about and why did the others agree? I attacked the targets the tank was marking, first 1 then 2 and then I picked between whomever was left, so I'm utterly confused.

Going off what you've said and your profile information, you're a level 33 ARC who doesn't have the Soul of the Bard yet (an item you're given at level 30 that unlocks the Bard job, granting you additional abilities as you level up, and likely the "crystal" the DPS referred to.) Can't remember the date but I was doing Dusk Vigil for as a PLD, first time as a tank. One of the dps gives me a piece of advice that I start taking(completely forgot defensive CDs because I usually had good healers that could keep up just fine). I continue on, using the defensive CDs as needed and as we reach a point where 8 mobs spawn and I take the aggro for them, I suddenly appear back in Camp Falcon(can't remember the name right now) with a message saying I had been votekicked. My other teammate exits the dungeon in complete rage and I was pretty pissed too. Was I doing bad at first? Apparently. Did I try to adapt? Yes. I'd guess I was kicked for not using defensive CDs before that last pull but they were still cooling down at that point and in fact still active from the last pull. I don't know if my guessed reason was right or not but I got a chuckle out of it at the end... those 8 mobs wiped them most likely.

I also rarely votekick. The only time I went ahead and initiated one on a non-offline player was when they started mocking me at the beginning, and continued insulting me to about halfway to the first boss. Why did they stop? Well the votekick I started might have had something to do with it... Unfortunately WE wiped because the healer was with the DRG harasser and left right before we pulled. I take it as a good sign that that was the first time I ever votekicked someone since I began FFXIV a year ago for harassment.

Just a heads up though, you should be using them regardless of if your healer is keeping up "just fine". You are severely limiting them by forcing them to spam heals on you when you don't use them. The point of a PLD is damage mitigation. Defensive cooldowns are key to passing the line of "I queued as a tank" to "I am a tank."

Just something from a healer who has been set into nothing but Cure II spam on tanks far too many times.

Yeah I do use CDs frequently now at least. At the time I had not been told(yeah I hadn't been told the entire 51 levels that it was something I needed to do. Should've realized it) and I adapted as fast as possible. Didn't save me from the boot in the end but helped me improve in the long run. Knowing exactly what it causes now, thanks to you, I can say that I will try to them as often as possible. As a question, is there a preferred order of the defensive CDs as I know it's not a good idea to use them all at once.

I don't play PLD anymore, and am pretty tired, so not remembering much about it. But it's really situational. Know what they are, and what they do, then as you learn the content, you will figure out where to apply each. Know which have shorter and longer timers, so you know if you can use it and have it back before the big hit. Sorry I can't say more right now. Good job on learning them though, it can be very frustrating for a healer.

I queued Sastasha the 1st time as gladiator and the "finding party members" screen listed me as a TANK. I thought "I wonder what a 'TANK' is" but the duty started before I could look into it. Then I stood there wondering, "Why isn't anyone moving?" After like 30 seconds I started walking and everyone followed me. I was like, "Hmm that's weird"

There was a convo about someone needing advice, the THM mentioned possibly giving up, I had no idea what they were talking about. Someone said "no giving up" and we moved on.

Luckily, I looked up "tank" on the internet after that dungeon run. I wish they had explained or kicked me, but I have to give them a lot of credit for being so nice. Serious troopers.

I got vote kicked after replying back to a tank who blamed me for not doing mechanics in Haukke Manor (normal).

TL: DR the healer and the other DPS ignored the mechanics resulting in the entire areana being flooded with the room wide AoE from the lamps. But because I answered back to the tank and said everyone should do their fair share i was made to be the one who was not supporting the group.

I got vote kicked, joined in progress again got kicked, joined in progress again, got kicked third time. Waited for them to leave and then got 3 friends to join in progress and we cleared the fight. Karma can be sweet sometimes.

Kicked from Arboretum after telling the tank to pull less, use cooldowns and not to expect me to carry him as a healer

He pulled everything, his sole comment back was dps do more damage >< Kicked just before the end boss after a rather scary run.

Duty Finder really really really needs a thing which keeps the mindless idiots with their own ilk and match good people with other good people ><

Why?

Because I yell at dps for pulling, but what do I care if they vote me out. It'll only take me 15 seconds to get another Queue. Stop going ahead or pulling mobs I didn't touch. You're not the leader.

When I tank the "You pull it, you tank it." rule applies.

The only real time I got votekicked was in Labyrinth of the ancients 2 years ago. Another MNK in the party didnt want to risk losing a roll for his precious legs. So he started arguing the moment we came in. Calling dibs on loot. I wouldnt have any of it. During Atomos I tried to LB it, but just when it finished casting the other party stepped of the platform. This caused the MNK to go off on a tangent, wich leds to someone else in the party starting a vote kick for him, wich failed. The tank assumed I started it, and I was promptly vote kicked myself after some verbal abuse from him.

Needless to say I reported them both.

I got kicked a couple of times for disconnecting/lagging. I understand why though (obviously). But on the other hand, I never initiate or vote for kicking if someone is offline. I prefer waiting a bit. Once a dps got dc'd, we went through the mobs, and he managed to reconnect for the last boss. All good.

The only time I remember getting vote kicked was rather recently. I got back into 14 around early January and after finishing the 3.1 story I went to do the Anima Weapon quest line. When I made it to Qarn HM, we wiped when the tank pulled the mobs in that room with the spikes near the very beginning, not really sure what happened there. So everyone respawns and we meet at the stairs outside the spike room and the healer casts protect on everyone. The tank starts running and jumping in circles for a while and I say in party chat "Maybe the tank is waiting for stoneskin," the only thing said in the dungeon outside of the opening hellos. Around half a minute after that the tank goes to pull the room again and we clear all the mobs in there no issue. As were running to the next group of mobs I find myself suddenly kicked from the dungeon without a word from anyone else.

Booted a SMN from Fractal tonight for wearing 3 incorrect accessories and obviously not having done his class quests (wasn't getting the dreadwyrm stacks from aetherflow damage). It wasn't a hard boot i explained what was going to happen and why.

Doing level 60 DR and got Neverreap

Party members were
Tank: DRK
Healer: WHM
DPS: BRD (me) & DRG

first pull took longer than usual to kill, DRG was not using Aoe.
second pull DRG died? and complained that he never died in this situation before (Aoe got him)

First boss DRG died again. All of the pulls went slow till we reached second boss.

Second boss DRG was not helping at all, took us so long to complete (lucky there were no wipes) but he did not carry anything outside of that purple ground Aoe.
After clearing second boss we kicked him.. it was too much

We move on to the last boss with only 3 members and decided to go in (we waited 3~4 minutes but not DPs showed)
Fight started and round the middle of it a DPs joined us but he was locked outside.

I was using foe and ballad to help WHM dps with me. We beat the final boss and I get all three players commendations. I gave mine to WHM for actually dpsing with me :)

On the Europe data server: Got kicked like three times so far for asking a party where two or more people were french if it was possible to talk English. Nope, not possible got a kick instead.

I have never been kicked thankfully, but I have a "nasty" habit of getting lucky on harder dungeons and raids and managing to get clears with out learning all of the mechanics. XD As a result I get yelled at sometimes in chat. lel Most recently it was in Alexander fist of the father. (Normal.) I had run the raid about 6 times and was under the impression that dps were not to touch the adds that were tethered to other dps. This was not corrected until some dps and healers were having trouble with the adds and I got told to "STOP IGNORING ADDS OR GTFO!" XD

I felt real bad at the time, but eh now I know. :P (I know to be sure adds are placed properly too, just making that clear. lel)

Was kicked one time.
My door bells and it was an unexpected visit from my Mom. She thoughts i needed food. However it was ok that i got kicked :D

I actually often have 3 frenchies with me on DF. Like, daily often. I don't speak word of it, but I have my elezen alt with highlighted F and at the start of the dungeon I say "salut" and remain silent for the rest of the run. As brilliant as I like to think my camouflage is, I think they know in the end that there's something fishy since they always say thank yous and byes in english before leaving. :'D

Haven't been votekicked recently, but I recall being kicked from Void Ark awhile back for retreating instead of watching the group wipe for 10mins on Chuchulain (think it was my second time in VA?). It was pretty clear they were not going to make it, with people kicking the bucket left and right.

My spotless record finally got tainted this week and I got my first kick! <3

Low level roulette as a healer, ended up in Brayflox NM. Right from the start, not a good feeling as dps (not the tank!) ran already off while I was casting Protect.
So we made it past the first boss without too much trouble, and that's where the problems began to start. In the big room after the first boss, the tank crossed the bridge and of course I followed him, while the dps ran off on their own into those little extra rooms, where they fought tiny hordes of monsters by themselves and died. Because I was having one of my nicer days, I actually really tried to keep them alive, but there is only so much one can do without splitting into three. I got a ress off, and they died again. Got a lot of bullshit in chat for that already, of course :rolleyes:

Anyway, second boss went well too, and then we got to the big open area after that. And boy did they go wild there..;)
I ended up alone with the tank in front of the boss room, desperately trying to keep him alive against the big pull of mobs because without dps, of course they didn't really go down. The dps were off on the completely opposite side of the area, in those little extra rooms again, dying by themselves again.
I was slightly amused and at the same time just kinda speechless when one of those two asked me if I'm afk. I answered: "No, I'm right here" and half a second later I stood outside my house again.
Honestly, it felt more like an achievement than a punishment :cool:
Achievement "met failing players who blame others for their mistakes" earned :D

People running off when I'm trying to do buffs is a pet hate of mine like why can't they just wait for like 10 seconds to get all the buffs at the start. Sometimes they all zoom off then stop at the first mob pack....Long silence "Protect..." JUST WAIT AT THE START AND YOU WOULD HAVE GOT IT. Also some are the opposite they'll get buffs and the SCH casts E4E on everyone and then the Tanks stand there doing nothing so it gets wasted. It's only beaten on my list by when Tanks die and then start emoting at you. Sometimes stuff happens and you die get over it.

And yes sometimes being kicked from a party is a mercy Had a couple of times in Neverreap with a bad Tank and really low DPS where something happens and I end up kicked and I'm just happy to have been thrown out the struggle bus.

I think i've been vote kicked a few times about a week ago when i was trying to do the Aery. I was, for some reason, having terrible internet and a lot of problems so it would disconnect randomly. I try to join back instantaneously all the times i've queued, but got kicked all three times... I tried again that afternoon and ended up with a super nice group and cleared it no problem.

I got kicked a few times entering LotA as ACN. :cool:

Just got vote kicked from midas.

First run after i was the only guy who was explaining the mechanics.
Few people died, tank did not provoke it off me as i had 5 stacks and got killed. Healers did not even bother raising me. needless to say, wiped.

Got kicked, i was really? and just logged off. instant-moodkiller.

My first kick was back in 2.0 when I decided to tank after leveling up my whm. Decided to try PLD. Was in Haukke Manor story mode and I told everyone before hand that I'm still learning and trying to hold hate. And that I'm very sorry in advanced if I lose hate because I have no shield oath in this level. I only have sword. No one said anything. Not even hi. Silent. I lost hate a couple times and what not but it didn't cause the party to wipe. Next thing I know before second boss, I got kicked.....

It totally brought down my self esteem as a player learning to tank. It took me a lot of reassurance that it wasn't me as a player but the fact that taking is totally backwards for PLD role. And it took me a lot of convincing from my friends that I should continue.

I'm glad I have these friends.

Well i didn't explain anything the first try. And i asked if anyone wants to know what to do after the first wipe.
Same with the new dungeons, I ask them "Anyone wants the strat or just wanna wing it and have a blast?"


Like you said, new patch new experiences etc. i don't mind wipes at all. But this was just pathetic. felt like they just want a free-exit of the trial without the penalty.

I haven't been kicked before (yet), but I feel it was close one day. Final boss in I think it was The Vault we wiped 3 times in a row and they kept claiming it was my fault (it was my first run in that dungeon, easy to blame the newbie) despite following all the mechanics in the guide I watched (I always watch the guides, I do not enjoy running around derpin all over the place). Then suddenly the other dps asks the healer if they are doing something and the healer goes derp I can try that and suddenly we clear with flying colors. I haven't played a healer yet and don't know the healing roles at all in FF14, so what they had been doing wrong I have no clue. But just blaming the new people isn't always the answer xD

Jumped into leveling roulette on my pld. Got Halatali. Thought "Hey, I can help some newbs and have a relaxing run." Got a whm, nin, and I think a blm. First couple pulls I notice the mobs are taking forever to kill. I chalk it up to whatever (don't really know much about DPS classes) I'm keeping aggro and pretty much couldn't die if I tried, so it's good. I pull next mob, but again it takes forever. Then I look around and see why. The nin isn't doing anything. Before I could even ask, he then stealths and walks further into the dungeon and I lose sight of him. It's a slog with just one DPS (Whm was just healing but that's fine by me) till the boss room, where the nin is waiting. I was so confused I even missed one of the chains, so i run back to get it. Then this all happens back to back: I kill the mob, level up, open the boss door, aaaaaaand I get kicked. No one said anything the entire time. First and only kick and it was WEIRD...

Nothing against France but why...?
I was on Leveling Roulette: Temple of Qarn
Group: Paladin, Barde (there two was Premades), Whitemage and me (Barde aswell)
So, the other Barde uses everytime Mage's Ballade and nobody needed it - i said she should stop "singing" 'cause it reduce her dmg and everybody have full mana. Her reaction was "CANT UNDERSTAND ENGLISH STOP IT PLS". I tried again but the same answer. After the second Boss Paladin write "coward" (dont now why??) and the Barde "Die!" afte these words i got kicked.
Yeah... huh. It was my second kick because i tried to help anyone.

Doing my EXDR Lost City of Amdapor hard got a group of three Germans I think probably friends or from the same FC. Anyway first mobs I put regen and E4E on Tank run to the wall cleric stance and use assize,aero III,holy etc until Tank needs a heal drop cleric tetra then mobs are nearly dead anyway. After this one of the DPS uses the translation thingy to write "Cleric stance, Don't use it". I'm like "okay" which relegates me to like one heal every 30 seconds then doing nothing much of anything because the only one taking damage is the Tank and he's doing mini pulls. Get to first boss and beat it without many problems and right after loot they all just stop dead and I knew what was coming. Moments later I am kicked.

This has to be one of the most ridiculous kicks I've ever had I don't think they had any idea what was happening or how the game works.
