I own two houses under my belt (just for your financial reference), and I don't even consider to buy PS4 in near future nor do I plan to acquire high end PC since I already got company issued laptop that can play DOTA2 just fine.
As someone who still plays ffxi along with ffxiv, I can tell that you don't play ffxi anymore. The ps2 support is NOT dropped, they just didn't release the last expansion in the USA for it. There's a giant difference between not releasing an expansion and dropping support. I literally logged into ffxi using the ps2 version just to see if it still works like 5 minutes ago, works like it always has. Also a little googling will inform you that while the USA PS2 version was not released, but there are those that have found a way to have the PS2 USA version updated to include the latest expansion. Also, SE isn't even considering a PS3 version of FFXI, they've already stated that, a LONG time ago.
So those of you that think they are gonna drop support for the PS3 are in for a rude awakening.
the UI was made how it is to be more uniform, across all platforms, they could change it to that horrible UI 1.0 had but honestly I would rather have this one.
as for the bag, I happen to like the way they redid it. I dont know what you honestly thought about that mess from 1.0 was better.
the party UI I wish they did more like the one on FFXI. so I do think that could use some improvement
as for the PS3 limits, those limits are not effecting the PC users dispite what you want to believe the graphics were dumbed down not for the PS3 but lower end PCs so again I stress the point, as long as SE plans to support the lower end PCs that is what will hold this game back if at all. not the PS3 version which will eventually end up slowly disappearing but not before sony stops supporting it. you can be certain we will get things on the PC that not even the PS4 will get due to limitations. but that wont hold the game back. it will still grow in time. I can see this game being released on the PS5(yes I know I'm speculating but the way sony keeps the naming it will probably be called that) provided it keeps a strong subscriber base
*clap* *clap* *clap* *clap* *clap* *clap*
Thank you all for a couple of hours of free entertainment. Haven't had this much fun in ages.
Can't believe ppl are stupid enough to make that kind of thread.. Great job.
I play on PC & my g/f on PS3 btw, and I might not be the only one in this situation, so PS3 private server? no.
I really think you should get out more and play less, maybe then you would understand a few realities of this world, realities that, your comment, suggest you really dont have a clue about.
I forgive you for your ignorance, not everybody has enough brain to use it before opening their mouth...err sorry, meant opening their computer to talk..err...sorry again..write sensible things, rather then stupidities.
Mei
With all the advertising they did for PS3 support and promising the game to be ported over after 1.0...
good luck with that.
FFXIV will be on PS3 for many years to come and it'll be the root cause of most future updates not being possible... FFXI all over again.
15fps when fishing.. why? ps2 limitation.
30fps hardcap... why? ps2 limitation.
dropping frames to 10-15 during populated combat.. why? ps2 limitation.
You could have a computer with 5ghz and SLI 780GTX graphics cards and your PC will still drop to 10 fps because of PS2 limitations.
Just because I can afford something doesnt mean a company should force me to buy it. Note, I already have a PS4 and Xbox one but Im just saying lol.
Many endgame fights require extremely tight timing and positioning, and/or a lot of wiping and reloading, all things the PS3 are terrible at especially for people who need stuff like Battleping to play since there isn't anything like that on the PS3
The biggest problem with the PS3 is that they can't do anything that the PS3 can't do, and the PS3 has a pitiful amount of memory even compared to a low-end computer, which severely limits the UI and overall featureset they can offer.
Op should probably get a new hard drive or ssd
Because bigger is better and everyone should want to play on the biggest screen possible. If you don't you might not be doing it right
All the pc players are gonna switch over when they see how great the ps4 is. Everyone says consoles are basically computers so ps4 is basically one of the top electronics brands making a 400$ gaming pc. Just the price kills a pc, why would anyone play with a more expensive inferior product? Customer loyalty? Keep the excuses coming why pc is better, ps4 is gonna kill pc. Plus it's gonna have chat. Yeah pc was better in 2013, but what parts in your pc were made when ps3 launched?
So no one has figured out the op was just farming likes?
I see that blaming it on PS2 limitations is alive and well, in a new game, in the same format.
So how about I skip explaining why you're wrong and just leave it at you're wrong. Oh, and you're wrong.
I would argue that PC has never been superior to consoles and the whole 'PC Master Race' nonsense was just rhetoric.
If by the same, you mean that both have a GPU, CPU, RAM, and semi conductors, then yes. They're the same.
Your definition of a "top PC" must be different than mine because a 1,000 dollar custom built computer will destroy a PS4.
On a computer I can:
Change resolution
Upgrade hardware
Change graphic settings
fix corrupted files without uninstalling everything
Load custom HDR and Bloom resolutions
Look at, and change (if I wanted to) .dat files and/or parsers
Change CPU/GPU allocation that the game uses
Be able to make any modification to anything I want (open file paths)
Have full visibility of network paths and command line granular data of the games processes
The PS4 can do:
None of the above
So tell me, besides the price "point" (I can find PC's that are on par, if not better hardware wise), in what way, shape, or form is the PS4 better than a computer again?
I play on PS3 and do better in the EX fights than most people running on solid computers. Maybe people with PS3 issues are using old PS3s? Have really bad internet? Don't have their PS3 hardwired in?
I intend on getting the PS4 to play FF14 on it, but the idea of dropping service for the PS3 is ludicrous at this point. I mean, they would lose... SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH MONEY.
You are basically saying "If you want to continue paying 14.99 a month for this game you must first spend an additional 450.00 on new hardware" in which most people would say "NNNNOPE, not worth it" cause 450.00 is a lot of money.
People will play on what they want to play on. Why does it affect anyone if someone wants to play on a PS3, PS4, or PC?
they can only upgrade the graphics so far until ps3 cannot support it that's a huge issue if you want a game to continue on the path to greatness
DirectX 11 is coming sooner or later. They probably won't officially drop support for PS3 for a long time yet but at some point the PS3 version will start to get left out of major "cosmetic" graphic updates or get only scaled-down versions. People will start to migrate to PS4 once it becomes more affordable, and PS3 users will dwindle naturally. Support can then officially end once the PS3 user count drops below a certain threshold, so backlash is reduced to a minimum.
It won't happen within this year or probably even the next, but sooner or later it will stop making sense to support the game on two very different Playstation platforms.
Of course a $1K built PC will outperform a console. The same PC would cost a ridiculous amount off the shelf for people not experienced with building PC's. Consoles bring superior convenience and accessibility. That's a big deal to most people. Are PC's more capable? Of course. Are they for everyone? No.
Its a choice they aren't going to make people buy a new system if they don't want to.
This is a decision SE would have had to make before deciding to release the game on PS3. It would be bad business to drop support for (or segregate - people bought the PS3 version expecting to be able to play with their friends on PC) the PS3 version less than a year after releasing it. SE will have to support it for more than a few years now, at least.
I do think they should have not released on PS3 since 2.0 launched around the launch of PS4, as that way they wouldn't have to design the game from 2.0's birth around the limitations of a last-gen console, which they've unfortunately already said restricts their design. But whats done is done. I don't think it was very forward thinking to release on PS3 though, but I think their goal was to reach as many people as possible in the short term on low end PCs and consoles, since they needed to make the money lost from 1.0 and designing 2.0 back.
Well if everyone can afford a ps4 maybe but I can't afford one atm, I am saving up for one though i'm sure alot of people don't have ps4 yet so I doubt this will happen.
Right, I didn't mean to come across as smug or condescending (re reading my post I can see I did). I was more replying to the guy that was trying to put a high end PC next to a PS4 and call it inferior.
I like consoles and I've played on PS3 and PC so I don't really get the "PC Master Race" thing, but to say that a console will outperform/have more functionality than a stand alone computer is insane.
To be honest it's really a point of how well the PS4 itself will sell. Sales have been rather strong compared to the PS3 but even going at a hearty clip it will take years to catch up the the instal base the PS3 currently holds.
If the market demands it SE will drop PS3 support but it wont be for years to come. They are going to do whatever is more profitable for them, not what would give them more breathing room to develope with.
Yoshi speaks alittle about this in this Interwiev with Gamer Escape.
Hes saying that they eventually will have to skip ps3 but not until at least after the expansion as they are making a ps3 version for it. He also talks about the DX11
That post makes me think DX11 version is even further out.....
Specifically because of
"However, this coming summer we plan to release the game in China and after that we have plans for an expansion pack so when we finish those, we will be looking to complete the DirectX milestone. With that in mind, after we successfully launch A Realm Reborn in China and begin work on the expansion pack – I believe that around that time that we may be able to speak more about the DirectX 11 client for Windows."
So china in summer, THEN expansion pack and THEN DX11 :'(
So, how do you write chineese only in chineese ?
The CN version is done in collaboration with a localization company iirc, as is the norm on the mainland, and so they will have segregated servers.
PS3,PS4 use DirectX so not likely to happen. Bit of a PIA to constantly have to code for both. Probably a large reason there's no Mac version.
Im sorry but this is an utterly ridiculous idea.
I have the game on PS3 and PC, and I can't stand to play it on PS3 because it looks so terrible. Of course the only reason it is on PS3 is because they want to maximize subs but in the end it will bite SE in the ass. The nextgen consoles were long overdue and still tethering your game processing to that ancient technology will definitely be a major factor in sub losses in the long run.
It's not set in stone and plans always change but they're actually looking into moving away from the PS3 in the future, so there you go.
