That is not logical at all.

For further assistance, whether this problem affects you or not, if you do not receive any notification, then please refer to the details concerning this Market issue from the in-game Support Desk
But I may just be interpreting it incorrectly.
Store your gil on your retainer at the inn, til I'm sure this is fixed I won't bedealing with my retainers outside the inn and to be sure to store all but 5K of my gil between both my retainers.
Coupled with the toxic community (the likes of which I have never experienced before), this security mishap clearly pushes me beyond my limits of tolerance.
I can no longer support this game.
Has anyone got this resolved? I've gotten an email saying that I need to catch up with a GM in game.. also have gotten an mail in game saying the same thing... but after getting off work and logging on around 3pm pst... I've been waiting till now and still no GM has talked to me yet. Would be nice if they let me know what's the time frame to catch a GM on to talk to me, I'm not sure I can wait all day for one to show up sometimes.
is this effecting both pc and ps3 players or just pc?
I hasn't happened to me, and I am sympathetic to whomever is affected. When are these clowns at SE going to get their act together?
To be fair there is little SE can do about it until "it" happens so they can respond. Remember, RMT was a billion dollar a year business years ago. It's very serious business for these people to leech money off of others so they don't have to get real legitimate jobs that pay far less than shady business. And with the decline of pay games that paves a path to free games so that the game companies cash in rather than RMT, FFXIV is one of the last remaining MMOs that are using the subscription only route(a lot of so called free games try to charge subs on the side and give people small perks for paying up)
What most game companies have done is to want a piece of THAT pie so they've gone the free to play route, offered up a online store, and design the game in such a way that it is very tempting to spend money rather than go through the grind. Devs are realizing there is a market for shortcuts, and are pushing RMT out so they themselves can benefit. So here FFXIV is, and it's got all RMT eyes planted squarely on them. So I think we can afford to give SE some leeway when they've got thousands of people trying to plunder them for a dollar. I'll take pay games over free any day of the week. Free games just suck and are only good for casual gamers. The day pay games die out is the day I'm done with MMOs.
MS hasn't gotten their act together for 20 years and windows is hacked to this day. Governments despite all their billions of dollars at play still get hacked. Can we really expect anyone in the MMORPG department to do better? I've been at odds with SE for ten years, but this just isn't a case to get riled up over. I save it for when they deserve the heat.
So, did you guys get your money back? All of it (including market board taxes etc.)?
Please let us know when and how, so we can assess the quality of SE's customer service.
Here's hoping that you'll get fixed very quickly, so you can enjoy the gils you earned through hard work and dedication, and be able to buy housing or crafted gear (for instance). :)
Yesterday I received an email that a GM tried to contact me in game but I was unavailable and they will try again. I replied to the email giving the timeframe i'll be back on. When I got home from work and was on, 22 mins into the timeframe GM Bublex contacted me. He was very pleasant and swiftly handled the situation. I got all the gil I lost back including the tax totaling 2.1mil gil. I must say im impressed with the quality of service SE provided. To reference back, when they took my gil I sent 2 in game reports and one thru lodestone detailing what I knew. Two thumbs up for them. To my fellow players that were affected, reply to the email you received with your availabilty schedule if you haven't been contacted yet. A GM will get a hold of you and return the gil you lost. :)
Both were affected pc and ps3 users.
I've replied to the email my availibilty and going on day 2 still havent seen a GM in game msg me. I was on from 11am till now and still nothing. Since they confirmed my problem through the email and the in game mail, I dont get why they couldnt just save both me and the GM the trouble and mail me my gil. Hopefully a GM will find me soon, this is getting a little disheartening.
So APPARENTLY this didn't affect me after all....
....seems I'm just regular poor...not hacked poor...
...umm yeah....
...carry on...
...by the way....
...math is hard...
....yup...

...back to the discussion...
Sorry Cass Ik how you feel...hopefully they will very soon. Dont be disheartened. ..they will fix it. I think they don't use the mail because they want confirm while the person is on that they received the gil. If push come to shove you can submit another GM call in game and on lodestone but I doubt it will come to that.
for anyone wondering how to make a GM call, its a little confusing because I thought it was under the "Contact Us" tab but its here

I keep most of my gil on my retainer and only keep a small amount on me (100k or less).. I shouldn't be affected?
I just want to say a "call" is a ticket.
I was confused by this and the GM that helped me apologized, explaining they describe the tickets sent in as "calls".
