Tanking with flash... Funny I thought the game was setup in such a way that it would be impossible to do that for very long...
Exactly my thought, but apparently his dds are so 'leet' that they can kill them all instantly without getting hate xD
That's fine for you, but for me, I prefer my runs to be more methodical and fast. To me, if I lose hate, I'm playing badly. I don't want to feel like I'm playing badly when there's literally nothing I can do to keep it from happening, even if I'm going all out. EDIT: is there even a spot where you can tank three dullahans at the same time without pulling skippable ones? Two seems to be the max for me, haven't tried three yet, I don't know if AK and minimum DL gear would be enough though to not get et up quick.
That's just it, in my experience with this its always one dd on one mob, another one on a totally separate one, etc, so they don't die that fast, in my experience again. I don't see why its such a sin to (focus target), you overzealous/derpy dds and dding healers are giving me an ulcer.
Fixed that for you.
In this particular instance, its more than just gear difference. Why on earth would a blackmage decide to start casting before I've even pulled? Sorry, but if it happens more than a few times in a raid with me, I'm outta there and they can wait for a new tank that puts up with that crap.
As a tank, if I see a mob that has its health going down more and its not the one I marked I will remark and refocus target. That seems to work, just pay attention to the hate meters and (focus target) and you can do no wrong, if you pull it off of me, its my (the tanks) fault for not paying attention.
DDS I run with get hate and pull stuff, but they just don't care. They kill it before they die and you can kite that stuff so easily. Everythign but dullhans can be kited and a tank in DL or similar gear can tank 3 dullhans at once.
I end up tanking trash packs in the large majority of pug "join in progress" AK runs that I do on my SCH. Not from healing aggro (Faerie can pretty much solo heal the entire instance), but from Cleric Stance DPS. Do I care that a mob is hitting me? Not really, because the trash packs melt so much faster with effectively 3 DD beating on them.
Nobody wants to slog through a farming instance like AK any longer than it's needed.
if DDs are pulling mobs off of you because they're attacking different mobs, or they aren't all focusing on the one mob you have marked, you do not know how to hold multiple mobs
both tanks are capable of holding multiple mobs with a different DD going all out on each one, if you're unable to do this that is your failing as a tank, not their failing as a DD
furthermore, there are encounters in the game that require you, as a tank, to be able to do just that
you may as well learn how to do it in amdapor before you get to that content and wipe your raid continually because you never learned how
Fixed this for you. Stop trying to defend this awful playstyle, you're going to infect new tanks and turn them into bad players. Stop getting so bent out of shape because you cant hold hate vs geared players - thats not their fault, and its not yours either. Its just gear. Get over it, and be happy you're along for a ride with geared players?
Man, we have gotten spoiled. Back in earlier games you had to use assisting macros and other things to target the correct mob. Not saying marking is bad, it is just that trends have changed so much. I also prefer marking, as it obviously makes the party´s life easier; however, if the tank doesn´t signal order I just either follow his aggro line or wait for the mob that starts to loose HP.
I am new to partying in general, not in endgame yet but refuse to go there until I learn. I tell tanks at the start of the instance, that I have problems stealing hate from them as a ACN or THM.. and they always tell me that they will not let that happen. I was told by a level 50, "Don't worry I will quit the game if I suck so bad that you steal hate from me." [this was for under lev 30 dungeon where I was entry level, he was to be lev synched down].
With those tanks, I did not steal hate, no matter what, they did not lose enmity. I learned to wait until they establish hate before going at it, however when I don't warn tanks that I need to learn how not to steal hate, they tend to let me steal hate...lol .
Q: What should I do in a situation where the targets are not marked in order? Wait a bit longer and attack the mob with the most accumulated emnity from tank? Advice appreciated. http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/i...es/biggrin.png
Dear Under and Overgeared Tanks and DPS and Healers.
Do what you can, to help the grp pull through. It is better to go through stuff together then rage at one another. Do what you can, Push your own limits, and don't BREAK no matter what.
