No thank you to an off-topic forum. These are feedback forums, not a place to socialize. I think people forget that sometimes.
Fan forums are better for socializing about things unrelated to FFXIV.

That's just simply not true. These boards are largely used to socialize. The threads also often devolve into flame wars. It makes more since for the mods to spend their time keeping their thumb down on that than deleting and handing out punishments for off topic posts that aren't hurting anyone.

I'm surprised how many people are against "Off Topic." I'm laughing about it, really.

It's like you don't want there to be Off Topic discussions you have to deal with, but there will be anyway, but you want Mods to just delete them rather than move them to a place you don't have to see them, as if not going to "Off Topic" forum was any different than deleting them - aside from the fact that one thing you consciously do and the other the Mods do for you.

It's really quaint.

I don't see the point of an off topic forum when they've already provided an outlet. There's a Blog page you can do post all the off topic chatter you'd like people to see, its even on the Lodestone, with a big fat "Log in" button.
