This is the only jump we need

I dont particularly think it was ever NEEDED. But honestly, who cares if it is needed or not. I want it. A lot of other people want it. The casuals want it. So I still think it will be implemented in one way or another.
Jumping may not be used in the context of exploration (climbing would make more sense than jumping), but it was still pretty necessary for Thaddius. In PvP it is used to juke spells (tricking someone to use their interrupt without locking you out of your spells). Is also useful in certain parts of the plague wing in naxxrammas, not to mention part of the raid mechanics for Hodir and whatshername from Nexus.
Secondly, annoying to whom? I've seen my share of night elves jump in place and as silly as they do look, there was no vein sticking out of my forehead in annoyance. I still don't see where the hate is coming from, though I can only hope you were also annoyed and hating on the fact that you had to kneel to Odin during Zantetsuken in Einherjar, because that was equally as "stupid" and "annoying" as jumping.
you know whats funny. people who do not want jump for the reason of spam jumping don't know what they are talking about. I played a few games with jump feature and never really say a spam jumper.
WoW, Aion, Free realm, Perfect world international. Personally I like PWI and their jump. They did make a truely 3d realm. One of the newbie quests involes using jump to scale up to reach a treasure chest.
Both jumpers and anti jumpers are against spam jumping, so it will not be an issue. And even if there is a rare chance you do see a spam jumper. Ignore it. You guys should be adult enough to not let 1 player ruin your day.
Jump would still be nice just because, honestly, why not? It's a quality of life improvement that has little to no impact on really anything other than the occassional stuck up person that you can never satisfy.
That said, I still think the whole thing is moot until they finish the higher priority things first. Quality of life changes should come after content and fundamental systems redesigns.
just want to add i'm neither for or against jumping.
I would like to jump, swing, scale mountauns though. I'm a sucker for ultimate role play.
Plus I know jump can add content PWI is prerty much proff of that. As is aion.
No thanks. I'd rather they lay the groundwork for a great game and add the content afterwards. Besides, they're pretty much almost done doing that. 1.18 should be the first battle system changes/maybe some dungeons. But yeah, I'll be surprised if the jump feature isn't included in patch 1.17a.
What I find funny is that the majority of people who want jump either dont have a reason for it or want it for some cosmetic reason. There are very few legitimate reasons for jump. You can walk down ledges already, so you want a jump to do that exact same thing just so you get the illusion that you are "falling"? Pointless much? There aren't even many instances where jumping up a ledge would be useful. Seriously, if at this point you are having problems navigating the land, then I'm fairly certain the lack of a jump button isn't whats causing your problem. Turn off the game and just walk away.
Like others said, the game was NOT DESIGNED with a free jump in mind and will ultimately make the game buggier than hell since people are going to find ways to lodge themselves in areas that weren't meant to be accessed and glitch enemies and so on and so forth. To prevent this, EVERY area would need to be reworked or redone to prevent this sort of activity. Do you realize how much work that equates to just so you can "fall" down a cliff instead of walking or because you can't follow a simple path ? I don't even care about bunny hoppers (even though I've in fact been plagued by them in several MMOs) as much as the technical issues it WILL cause if implemented.
I did forget to mention that all I saw on Jump was "examination" of the feature, not implementation. And even so, it may only be an emote like they were saying. Don't get all high and mighty yet until you see it implemented
