What is said what is done and what is meant are different.
We can argue on what was meant - as I dont think it is as rosey as people want to make out to be.
But regardless of that they should have and didnt keep their info updated - it doesnt matter if the plan was meant for 2 or 2000. You don't unprofessionally maintain outdated information on a clearly updated website. (On occasions they updated little new pieces in the stream but those quickly leave front page - but it never went into the final piece that has never left front page. They have recently updated the main page however but it was way too late to matter). That I am thankful for. At least they finally realized it is still visible. Late, but at least.
I see Legacy as a way to get people who have interests in the game to pay for a few months more than they would have currently. If they had wanted to really reward the hardcore enthusiasts they would have given this to those of us who bought the collectors edition way back when. It was a great way to hook people who were fence sitting into 3 more months of playtime.
I don't mind that they did this, but you're not being rewarded for being the super special XIV player. (which is a good thing)
You had more than enough time to get Legacy status. If you really wanted it, you should have come back sooner and not waited until the last minute. Its not unfair at all. You had lots of time, but you chose not to.
You know this is completely true, it did say paying 3 consecutive monts until the beta was released... So, SE needs to get there crap straight, I've been a huge fan of final fantasy for such a long time, and that is disappointing.
I pay for this game for the story and hope to play the game to meet people. But it hasn't been the best expirence with unfriendly people, and on top of that no PvP....
I want the mount, my name in the credits, and I would be more then happy to pay for another month @ 9.99 what I've payed since I've got the game. Which would be crap to pay more when all I use is one Toon and have to pay more a month , then from when I started to pay.
I see what you're saying. You want to donate an extra month's worth of pay to get Legacy benefits. But that would be a slap in the face for anyone who stuck with the game during the laggy, buggy, clunky past year. You're also asking to buy a discount on the game that, in the long run, would mean far less money for SE if they gave everyone this chance. It's been understood for a long time that if you don't make the cutoff, you aren't getting the benefits.
It's not even that though, I see it as they will make plenty of money when all the new players will come for the ps3 version and the new release of the game but people that have played and payed for it for more then a month should have some loyalty consideration. The price is rising, for people that used the standard price, I've payed for the service fee and toon fee for 2 months, if I could pay one more time I would, or if the game purchase would count, because I would be happy to pay for the first month that was tied into the game purchase I would....
And yet, even with your full fledged logic, if they locked down servers 10 days later than they decided to do and not moved to free, I would be qualified.
I really don't get why you all people make such a fuss about loyalty and such, when a so small portion of time is involved.
Slap or not, it was just 10 days. And you still have your slap, when people who started paying on later June have the same reward you get from having played two years non-stop.
So stop making this a principle fight.
It's just days, with the arbitrary decision to stop everything months before alpha is up.
Days. Not slaps, principles, loyality crap and such. A few days and the gift of making this all free for a month.
Most of the people here already have legacy - and have had it for a while. So its not really their battle and dont care. Also we have an unusually large amount of people who want to feel special just because they payed for a game that wasn't complete. (Hence all the slap in the face talk, even though the main page makes no differentiation).
Also most people here are are very active forum users so they have read SE forum updates - which put a general cut off (this was a guideline cut off but it kicked a lot of people in gear). Though this information wasn't readily available to those who joined later, but they all forget that. (Thats why you will hear them say you had plenty of warning when you have no idea what they are talking about)
IF the legacy page said the cut off was X 3 months in advance then I wouldn't be here defending - since then it would be peoples fault for not read the page correctly. But the matter of fact is it wasnt.
However to cut to the ugly truth - SE isn't a people person company, its unlikely they will do anything about this. You can bug the shit out of their customer service if you want, but unless a rep gives 2 cents and wants to put their head on the block for 20 people to see what the headquarters thinks about this then like I said I'm sorry.
I never read anything about having an advanced payment... Which like the whole game I guess I would have just magically figured out how to do that was well... Imagine that, way to go SE
