Why must chocobos be our companions

I find it odd that they decided to go this route with chocobos. If there were any battle companion FF fans would have voted to dress in AF gear and have them fight alongside them, it would have been Moogles. As much as I love chocobos, I'm a tad disappointed.

I love the idea of jobs for chocobos. Hell, In FFF: Chocobo's Dungeon, Chocobo had a whole bunch of different jobs ranging from black mage to dragoon to scholar to dancer (yes, dancer).

I can't believe people are actually complaining about this, but I guess I should because people complain about everything on these boards.

Exactly this, but this isn't the right generation of MMORPG gamers to expect them to understand this, they're used to having 700 mounts that's not unique in any way and races and classes that all play the same.

"too much chocobo" LOL. I do like your ideas on other companion/mount pets(?) and their subquests though.

The only ones complaining about this likely are the ones who want this to be just another MMO and not a FF game.

I think that is an unfair assessment of those who thought the companions would make more sense as moogles. (I have played the chocobo centric games) But I still see a moogle wearing armor and using weapons better then imagining a cosplay chocobo who looks like you just abused the animal by stuffing on your old AF gear.

Well, to me, a yellow chocobo is a normal chocobo, able to peck, chocobo rush etc. green chocobo is healer, red chocobo is tank, blue chocobo is dot and white wind, black chocobo is flying (perfect dragoon companion) but well, the af gear on chocobos .... no thanks. Customizing gear on chocobos like plates etc though, yes :) i want to breed details on the bird, not breed a set of clothes :P
