FF14 was compatible with the PS3. And the Switch 2 is way more powerful than this old console.

XIV fans have this bizarre history of being aggressively against any platform or interface until their parasocial friend Naoki Yoshida confirms the thing is happening.
Although to this day there are still XIV players in the west who still think you can't possibly play support well using a controller.
They live inside a bubble.
Just lol
I can't wait to see the Nintendo Switch 2 struggling while playing this game. í ¾í´£
Personally, I will wait for the PlayStation 6 handheld to be released to play on the go, though it's already known it won't be very powerful but hopefully will have a bigger screen than the Switch 2. I'd need at least 10 inches or more to see comfortably.
I don't think XIV has been made for handheld consoles, keyboard and mouse can be replaced by the touchscreen, I suppose.
FFXIV has never needed a keyboard and mouse to play. I don't play without them, but a lot of people play just fine with controllers. Handheld consoles are just big controllers with the computer and screen in the middle of them.
The only matter for the Switch 2 is if the hardware and drive space can handle it, and apparently it can though it would be a bit tight.
I stream this game on my OG Switch. People play this game on Steam Deck. It's already a thing that is happening. I don't know what the hell you're on about.
The Switch 2 has the meat to run it and nothing is preventing a USB keyboard. Really the issue is tiny screen, but the Steamdeck ran FFXIV just fine with some UI tweaks. Dragon Quest X is also on basically everything, so SE is probably going that direction for FFXIV.
The rumor is from a comment from Yoshi-P made during the last new year's Q&A when asked about a Switch 2 port. He wants it.
- Express SD Card up to 1TB which is faster than the HDD on PS4and PS3 at that.
- Game's minimum requirement is 8 and S2 has 12.
- You know the Switch works natively with USB keyboards, right?
Of all MMOs, XIV was tailor made to run on consoles. You could probably force it into the OG Switch if you grab the assets and poke-em-on hard enough.
