I was just in an alliance raid where the ninja had to go move something from their oven and AFK'd mid fight. I had to rescue them out of an AOE. Not a big deal but it happens often enough that I find it useful for mundane tasks.

An opt out option is fine imo. That way people who are sensitive about being yanked around can just disable it. But ffs don't remove more stuff from healers, the role is boring enough as it is.
Arm's Length.
I personally hate getting rescued; I find it disorienting and my kneejerk reaction to being rescued is feeling insulted (even when I know the intent is often benevolent or even neutral), so I don’t use the skill either. But I think it’s fine that it’s in the game and would hope they keep it! I like when my friends rescue me into my death and vice-versa. Besides, I think healers deserve that fun little button in the ever-dwindling arsenal.
After using it wrong by accident with other players (not always, but the first time I was using it, I made them die once x'D), now I only use Rescue with my wife character, because some times she is so focused in other stuff she don't see the AOE, and I actually save her! XD
I think the most problematic thing with the skill is there is a bit of delay, so if you don't press it perfectly and on a good spot, it can be detrimental...
Personally, I wouldn't like it to be removed, it's a fun feature XD but maybe an opt-out option (not when you are in the boss, more like a thing in the character settings) wouldn't be a bad idea, so you can decide if you want to be rescued or not...
By the way, at least now has much more cast delay, so you can't "rescue spam", because once I had a Healer drag me around the dungeon like my tank was a dog... literally throwing me into mobs, I had fun, but most people would probably find it annoying... :p
I don’t see why anyone is against allowing you to opt-out of being rescued. I’m not a plaything for healers to drag around on a leash at their own discretion.
I can understand the pov of both sides but, I will not budge on this, you canot take it out without replacing it with something either just as good or better. I am sick to bastard death of my fave jobs being picked apart and dumbed down. It cannot keep happening.
Also, you cannot include an 'opt out' because that means in duties where your entire team is rescue proof, or even just half and they're all the people who would need it, you don't have rescue anymore & it's the same as removing it.
So either leave it be or add in something that is the same level of engagement.
