Current fixes to Forked Tower is not good enough

Given how FT's entry system was initially designed, I find it hard to imagine that it was not intended to cater to a broader audience. The only sufficient explanation I could imagine is that they intended for such content to last over a significant amount of time, allowing more players to become involved in FT over time.

Even with their explanation during the LL, it seems like there was just a real disparity between what they planned for and what was designed (I can only assume these are two different teams that didn't talk to each other).

I cannot imagine how anyone would think FT was ever intended for the wider player base. Yet, the initial entry method is exactly that. And, why would you not cap off OC with a raid like CLL? And so, really, there is nothing for the casual player base to level up and use their phantom jobs in.

So, what is the point in OC, for the casual player base? There is no accessible raid to use your phantom jobs in. You can't level up your normal jobs. Sure, it should be easier to get the demiatma in OC but, after that, there is no incentive to get any further relics from doing OC content. The rewards, apart from the Twirl emote, are far too easily obtainable. So, even if you were going for those, you will be done in a relatively short amount of time. Gold farming, if you want that glam, is devolved to going on WAR and spamming cannon shots. Last time i did that, 5min in and I was falling asleep.

Back to pvp, I guess...

I can see JP maybe feeling their way up to dead stars but how the hell did they think dead stars could be blind pugged by 48 players with a rezz restriction

Like snowballs and fire towers are just absolutely awful from the perspective of being mechanics you could blind feel out a 48 man strategy

Like at least DRS was basically all just personal responsibility

Exactly my thoughts… it’s like a mish-mash of some things from each of the previous field ops, but without the things that made them work. The cipher thing would’ve been a nice touch for a Normal/Story mode. But it’s like someone just went, “well it was fine for BA,” and called it a day. Never mind the fact that BA, while still needing organization to be run, has a lot less fail points than FT. They also brought back field notes from Bozja, but locked the last five in a higher-difficulty mode, which didn’t happen with DRS. Bozja’s Triad cards were purchasable in the cluster shop, not locked behind DRS, like the one for FT is. BA really didn’t lock anything away besides a mount and some higher stat gear. You could still feel like you completed Eureka and BA was just more challenging bonus content. Same with Bozja and DRS.

But this field op is only getting two zones, each with their own tower. It’s still not clear to me whether the second zone will get a Normal mode; the wording to me still seems ambiguous. If it does, OC as a whole ends up being lopsided; if it doesn’t, there ends up being no Normal mode dungeon at all for more casual players. It really feels like there was meant to be both, but they ran out of resources, and since they do the harder versions of everything first, the Normal mode was cut without thinking about all the implications of that.

As you say, once you get all the rewards, level all your phantom jobs and zone gear, and finish your first relic, then what? The support fate, assuming anyone bothers to do the puzzle that spawns it anymore, only gives 2 sanguinite anyways. Is the next zone going to start off with a fresh set of gear? Or will it require the +2 to get further upgrades, putting anyone who didn’t run the Tower at a disadvantage going into the next zone. And that’s assuming even one run of the Tower would give you enough sanguinite for a full set… it’s 60 per piece of gear, idk how much the Tower gives. If they attach relic steps to Tower completion, that kills off the relic for anyone who doesn’t complete it.

The way the story even presents forked tower blood, Ketenramm is like "I am not bothering with that, but you can go poke around in there if you want, meanwhile I am going to figure out how to get to north horn."

It's pretty bad when even the NPCs are not interested in the content.

It's pretty sad how little story there is, I thought the Bozja villains talked too much but characters with real personalities and a real conflict makes a big difference to a story. Meanwhile I can't even tell this tonberry that we can cure him now.

It should not be high-end content at all. How they designed FT made it a high-end content. With punishing restrictions and mechanics, they force people to have premades to ensure everyone in a group can coordinate effectively and complete the content.

I think that line is to inform the player that there is no story locked behind FT and clearing it is an optional thing to do.

Which makes it kind of weird that they decided to lock 5 field notes behind it, which in a way does lock lore behind it.

To be fair the notes are really only relevant to what’s inside forked anyway

Like about the most interesting thing that’s technically relevant to the wider zone is dead stars controls the weather

But otherwise it’s “here let’s describe a boss that if you haven’t done forked you won’t even know what it is in a bit more detail”

Like for people who haven’t done forked do you even know what dead stars looks like because they do not match their name
