Of course it's not good as darklight armor, but you can put in materia.

edit: i hear you get a golden coffer with high gear droprate if you can do it with a speed run.

Its actually the other way around. The faction ranking at each node/camp reflects which faction is most popular. #1 gives you the least amount of points and #3 gives you the most (its their way of giving incentive to the least used faction, I guess). At a r40 camp the rewards per leve are

#1 - 8 (9 for quick completion = less than 8 mins)
#2 - 11 (12 for quick completion)
#3 - 16 (17 for quick completion)

When you are going to start a leve, check the standings first, and do whichever one is lowest ranked. Sometimes just doing one leve can change the standings making the faction you were doing from 3rd to 2nd, so check between each leve to maximuse point gain

I just did the second quest as DRG easily.
Abilities used: Decoy, Dread Spikes, Elusive Jump (You're almost guaranteed invulnerable to 2 Hits)

-Run with chocobo until First Crab, then walk.
-At 3rd Bridge, cast Decoy and Dread Spikes just before Bogys.
-Ride Chocobo and run as fast as you can until you're about to enter cave.
-Ignore the Jellies and Bogy, run past through until you're in Qiqirn place / turns.
-When turning in, switch to walk on Crab.
-Decoy and Dread spikes should still be up If you screw up by some chance.
-After getting some distance, turn back and use Elusive Jump, then run to Target Area.
-You're done ! (I didn't know Crabs' Ranged "Spit" was removed 0.0)

Last time I went exploring for Aetherytes was 1.18, so pardon me.

Our 8/8 party got 8/8 Coliseum Subligars from a gold chest on the first leve. We completed the leve rather quickly. I got a gold chest from the second leve, while managing to finish it with 01:16 left on my timer. Got Coliseum Loincloth, so possibly there's a bigger chance of getting the gold chest if you can do a "speedrun" on these. . . . As far as I've seen, Coliseum items may drop from other chests as well, just at a lower chance.

Has anybody done the first and not received credit? Went back and talked to the npc but I could not get the second mission. Did I forget to do something?

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but if you go to Leve History Evaluation after completing the first three leves (possibly in order), you can get Wanted: Vengeance without paying any faction credits.

I have confirmed this:
First level 4 times, 2nd once, 3rd once --> History Evaluation = Free 4th Leve!

From this I can deduce you can do any of the first 3 any number of times, so long as at least one of each appears in history.

However, I do NOT know about the following:
Can you evalute a free 4th with ONLY 3 leves in your history?
Does order matter?
What happens if you have the 4th in your history?
