Realistic equipments or More fantasy equipments?

While the passable armor have a more realistic look(similar to how our armor looks now).

Also, The standard armor should keep the optimal rank while the great stuff have a minimum rank before you can wear it(like XI).

The Garland empire uses mechs.

I like more fantasy themed, but I don't want it so it looks like its from WoW or some other toony-MMO.

There is really no reason why the realistic armor cant look fantasy I mean look at an actual suit of Gothic Plate mail. And as for making the designs to look like something from an earlier game.... why? this isn't Final Fantasy1-13 it's Final Fantasy 14 sheesh let it have it's own style, you would think in an era where every nancy with a blog page is looking to be an individual snow flake they would want their games to be unique also but no we all want whats familiar. Well can't get more familiar than armor that looks real and historic.

And I love how even though the "endgame" is at 50 right now no one seems to remember that it wont be 50 forever once the game is up and rolling that level cap will be raised. And much like in past games the armor will look better and better the higher the level cap becomes.

Well pow hammer would be cool , phantasy star online for example had some crazy wepons like frying pans , not sure if it be right for ff14 though?

No, I don't think so. I actually like the style a lot more than the over the top crap I see in most other games. My armor looks good, but it still looks like it's been designed to protect me. Which is good.

I especially appreciate the realistic use of materials. The art direction, equipment-wise, is top notch in the market at the moment, and I'd really dislike seeing it take a cheesy/cartoonish/overly slutty steer.

That said, I'd very much like to see a lot of the equipment that for now is available only for NPCs made available to the players.

Really, this is the truth. I think FF have proved over the many games that they can make some serious eye candy. Weather it is sweet armor, awesome effects, smooth natural animations and emotions or badass bosses and summons...

Seems something went wrong with FFXIV in some of those things, but as they add more stuff it should get better.

Also, to answer the OP, I would like a mix of both. Realistic fantasy gear with big dollop of sexiness without the slutiness.

Why do the mage classes look so plain? It's like they're wearing potato sacks =(

Other classes all look the same because they're too realistic.

Gimme a BLM and DRK costumes as a style of clothing for one class not just one flimsy costume pls.

Yea, I did always think the mage classes should be able to wear the most attractive exposive (not too slutty) clothes since they don't really need practical protection.. using magic and all.
