Didn't Yoshida say something along the lines of not having a demolish timer on housing since he didn't want the player tied to the game? If he can change his stance on that then why can't he change his stance on instance housing? Is it in fact a server/coding problem? If so then it seems a bit odd that SE would brag about record sales and breaking financial records while not fixing basic problems on the game that is allowing them to thrive.
Please give us instanced housing.

He simply can't go to instanced housing because it will inevitably have to be worse than wards outside of massive server infrastructure upgrade. But at that point wards stop being a problem. Just look at it logically. If they had server capacity to give everyone an equivalent of large house at will (i.e. Instanced Housing) they wouldn't be having problems with just adding more wards. If they were to take all the capacity they currently have for housing and convert it from limited wards to instanced housing available to every player we would get apartments with 100-150 more slots. I'd love to have a yard again and outdoor furnishings. I don't mind present homes staying as they are so people can impress their neighbors with their Decor. But I'd love a personal little hamlet somewhere that would essentially just be a larger version of the Apartments we get. -

Being newer to FF, I'm grateful for my apartment. I do wish it had some sort of small, outdoor space (maybe even just a balcony?), but I can experience housing. It's kind of amazing to see the big housing zones knowing they're all active players/FCs, and instanced housing would take away from that. Yeah, I would love to have a larger house, but I see both sides. I think the apartments are a good compromise.
I think right now the argument is premature (weird to call such an old argument premature, but as this post is new, so be it), as we don't know what these islands or plantations, or whatever they are, will be like. -

Saying "We can't have instanced housing because Yoshi says no" is not an answer. Stop using it. The current housing system is garbage and leaves the vast majority of the playerbase unable to get their own home. Their is zero reason for not having instanced housing alongside the districts we already have, as they've shown they can do with Apartments, which are just crappy, tiny houses. Zero, nada, zilch, no reason whatsoever. Stop excusing it, Yoshi needs to understand most of his playerbase is not happy with this system and it doesn't serve any benefit whatsoever to keep it as is.
I do not understand what his obsession is with "muh neighborhoods" and I don't care. There are no neighborhoods, everyone is in their house and nobody is interacting with one another because this playerbase is extremely cliquish and anti-social. This "lively neighborhood full of people who know eachother" is not working, has never worked, and never will work. People are just in their own houses only interracting with one another and their own friends, it's already borderline the kind of thing we'd have with instanced housing. Also considering that houses are INSTANCED on the inside anyway.
Just give us instanced housing. The only people who disagree with instanced housing are people who want to feel special for being the tiny % of players who managed to get their own house. -

What we're saying is: "We don't believe either of those assertations to be true." If the fine folks over at Warframe can do it... and they do, in a FAR more complex and customizable implementation (Check out some of the award-winning dojos, where people have literally built their own Mechas/dragons/cities)- then the FFXIV people can do it. Or baring that, I agree with what a previous poster said: Remove it entirely. That's generally what programmers do if they find a portion of their software that simply cannot be fixed, and will never work correctly. They deprecate and remove it. What we have now though is the worst of all possible worlds- a broken system that a lot of people obviously want to take part in, but can't because of completely arbitrary and unfair reasons beyond their ability to control. Right now, if you even want to have a minor shot at housing, you have to cheat. Nobody wants to acknowledge that, but it's 100% the truth. If you're not botting/RMTing, you will not get a house, and every person here knows it. Those of us who want to follow the rules are penalized, as we will never have the Gil/Luck/Timing to obtaining housing, and especially not now that they've gone back on their promise to start recovering abandoned housing plots.Quote:

I don't know why people care about this so much. The only houses worth visiting are almost always FC-owned, and the few that aren't deliberately design and open themselves to the public as social spaces. IMO, they should have never opened housing up to individual players and limited it to FCs and individual players who applied under a public use license.
I do not see the appeal of having houses like we already have with no context, no place in space, no neighbors. I especially do not see the appeal of having magnitudes more houses than we already have, just for most of them to never be visited or used by anyone but the owner. And if I really just want a space to plop some collectibles, decorate, farm, have private conversations, that is what apartments and island sanctuary are meant to cover.
Your character is not real. They don't need to be sheltered and fed. We don't need more servers putting out even more carbon emissions just for that non-purpose. If it's not serving the greater social community more directly, I think it's just a waste of resources.
