Housing in its current form doesn't work. The housing accessibility to the playerbase gets shutdown just about every year for several months and obtaining a house is almost impossible for a majority of the playerbase. Lottery system doesnt help alleviate the issue either.

Its been in high demand for a years and I believe its time to finally embrace instanced housing so that everyone can have a personal house and so that every FC can have equal access to houses.

Especially now that the playerbase has grown bigger than ever, there is definitely not enough houses for everyone and creating limited availability is ridiculous when it can be easily made to give everyone housing.

Doesnt need to be gutted and redone. Literally leave the current houses as is as a grandfathered in and then just add 1 new ward with instanced entrances to each house like the apartments. Just by the existence of apartments, the groundwork is already there.
Neighborhood system doesnt work if people dont got houses and if you have a ward with instanced houses, you will still have neighborhood feel.

The current housing system is what the developers have in mind for the game. It is what they want it to be.

A: They have taken feedback and have made changes in the past with several things. PvP has been changed, Diadem has been changed, etc
The game has failed in 1.0 and has improved thanks to feedback. The devs will continue to listen to feedback regardless of whether or not you believe things will change.

What about apartments? Isn't that a solution?

A: No, for a few reasons.
1. FC's cannot use apartments
2. Apartment lacks features that are only available to houses
3. It's too small for most people as it is now at this moment.

It's impossible! The devs won't do it!

A: That's cool. Many of us disagree with that statement and will continue to ask for square to fix the broken housing system.

He's very much in favor of the neighborhood system and wants it to be something exclusive and something to work towards. That's why we're getting a lottery instead of instanced housing.

The upcoming farming thing that will allow you to have something similar to instanced housing is probably the closest we will get, so you might want to wait for that and see if it suits your needs.

Sorry to say but if you want full blown instanced housing, I'd look towards another game.

Forgive me for giving you the actual reason as to why we don't have instanced housing. Yoshi does not want it. It's been asked for, for years to no avail. If we were going to have instanced housing, it would be here already.

She's not saying no for the sake of saying no. She is saying no because she is being realistic, and is indeed trying to help you. She is trying to help you by purging you of false hope in order to direct it at something a little more pragmatic.

If you watched the Q&A during the most recent LL, you will undoubtedly have seen Yoshi's reaction to releasing a residential district in Sharlyan. He didn't even need it translated. What do you think his thoughts would be on implementing an entirely new housing system that would immediately supersede the current residential system based on that reaction? Don't fool yourself into thinking current housing won't be affected. It most certainly will.

Feedback doesn't ensure change, and in terms of instanced housing there are going to be a lot of players against it as it would eat up a ton of resources that can be used towards playable content instead of giving players their own zone to AFK in.

This topic comes up fairly frequently, and the same answer is always given. The current housing system is what the developers have in mind for the game. It is what they want it to be. They understand that not everyone is happy about it, but, you can't make everyone happy all the time.

While I understand your frustration, it likely won't change in the foreseeable future. The reason for that has been explained to you, not accepting the reason doesn't make it less so. Best of luck in the lottery when Ishgard housing launches.

The devs don't want to abolish wards and housing with neighbourhood feeling and that's fine but that system and better apartments or similiar forms of instanced housing are not mutually exclusive and that is something the "But Yoshi said no! Just accept it!" people don't seem to understand. Keep your house in your ward. Nobody wants to steal it from you, don't worry.
But let people request something that adds to a system that the vast majority of the playrbase is extremely unhappy with without taking anything from the people that are already happy.
We already have a form of instanced housing but it's not properly fleshed out. All it needs is some love and the community will be much happier with the state of housing. Wards can stay, no problem.

Thats a very good response. I believe that housing can be improved and expanded upon and I agree that everyone will enjoy the game to a greater extent with good changes and/or improvements.
