Rules of the board effectively are the laws of this board. Not to mention that laws aren't just to stop bodily harm/death of people and taking people's possessions. You can call the police because someone is standing in your private property and won't leave, even if by standing there they aren't doing anything to you besides being a nuisance.

Board rules have the same spirit in mind.

Please tell me how it wouldn't be valid when the daily cap is a restriction placed upon users for their own good, just like how laws are restrictions placed upon citizens for their own good. You quite literally said 'restrict the many because of the few', and laws do just that. People just can't help themselves.

That would be a fault in you, not us, if you can't see both laws and rules come from the same place, different scopes.

That'd make sense... if the limitation were per topic. Or if the limit were applied to people who were found to be behaving contrary to the ToS and thus on a "watchlist" for the mods. As blanket restriction, it is annoying.

Not everyone agrees with such laws - moreover, the scope of most laws is to limit harm to others. On a similar basis, you could argue for caps on how many hours a day you're allowed to play the game, for the players' "own good".

Most people would dismiss that as abject nonsense. ;)

I wouldn't even mind the post cap if it was raised to at least 40 posts or more, though I'd prefer no cap at all or something even higher than that. It's hard to stay on top of multiple active conversations with what it is now, especially right before a big patch when people are speculating heavily about the new content we'll be getting.

So, it's been years since I posted this but rather than create a new thread I figured it'd be easier to give this one a nudge since I've seen a fair few comments lately in relation to the daily post limit. I'd like the site itself to be given a new coat of paint but increasing the daily post limit would be a good step in the right direction. Many people have befriended other posters over time but don't necessarily get to interact in-game due to regional differences so it'd be very much in the spirit of friendship that the game claims to embrace.
