5.0 AST is a failure

I did the same thing with leveling WHM first and then SCH to AST, and it just horrible compared to WHM and SCH. At this point, I'm just hoping to finish it up to 80 tomorrow and put it away until hopefully they get a fix sooner rather then later.
It really sad because I thought Yoshi didn't want any class being excluded from content, but here we are... AST sitting out because nobody wants them.

People do like their fads, but rest assured the second players start looking to make parse runs the AST will be back in, even with the nerfed cards. WHM is in a really strong spot for progression and while ilvl is low where its heals get the most weight for their costs, but AST will be the go-to when players feel more comfortable with the encounters. PUGs are one thing, since you can't really trust randoms so you try to hedge your bets for safety, but if it becomes an issue for you try making a party of your own. Don't leave all the responsibility in the hands of meta-slaves.

When it comes to DPS its no contest, ASTs cards wont bring enough difference due to how weak and short duration they are for the amount of effort you need to put into them for Divination windows. When it comes to healing its no contest period. People are excluding AST because it is a deficit to run an AST over a WHM or SCH. This is not a matter of being comfortable with the fights, this is a matter of the potencies and buffs being too weak to overlook.

though, i'd feel better about the card system if it wasn't seven buttons dedicated to a 4% overall damage increase for one target, with a splash of 6% raid increase every threeminutes

it really is just trashy, ignoring all the whines about "muh utility" and other dumb excuses people have about the previous cards being "better"
having to nerf the cards is fine, but it wasn't just a "nerf", we literally got garbage as a replacement, that's my issue

assuming WHM are the hard-casters for both dps and healing, SCH are the hard-cast dps with oGCD healing, and AST are the hard-cast healers with oGCD dps, it's not really a bad concept overall

it's just.... literally why

is 4% damage really worth the hard-cast losses and seven buttons to work with?
especially when you're still at the mercy of someone elses damage output being the higher out of who you're throwing cards at, or them being able to squeeze out the most of their rotation during your card throw, or the RNG itself depending on if you even have a melee/ranged dps

Innocence (healing): AST only 17% of parses
Titania(healing): AST only 17.55% of parses

That alone should tell you how bad of shape the job is in. Roughly half of ideal. But at least it's consistently sh!t.

First of all i want to thank the devs for an amazing game that i enjoy playing every single day. You put in amazing work and you should be proud of yourself!

Secondly i want to thank the poster AmurT for this thread. You very accurately describe how i feel about 5.0 AST. I mained the job in sb for raids and it felt amazing. It was smooth and you could make so many stategic decisions: cards and extending buffs with 10s.

As you described i feel like all the strategy gameplay aspects have been diminished and replaced with a frustrating system. Even when the cards go perfect i cant even feel happy since the ogcd bloat makes me dislike the job. Playing controller and having to tab down the party list for the right dps to hit so often while healing and dpsing feels awful.

I am sad to say i am no longer an ast main. I have switch to brd/dnc. I rather deal with dps queues than play ast in any content. Luckily my static has accommodated me and others have switched roles.

The new card system feels like a choire and does not provide me with a sense of decision making or joy when the rng hits just right. Not to speak about the low personal dps nor the low healing potency.

Also want to note i had hoped that noct ast would be fixed this expension only to find it even worse.

The problem with ast is its just bad, whm dps alone seems like more than asts cards actually provide. This is not because whm or sch are overtuned, but because ast is woefully undertuned. Collective unconcious and celestial opposition are joke of cooldowns too sadly. On my whm and sch I don't use all my tools always because I don't need them, on ast they just don't seem to do anything...

Wall to wall dungeon pulls are a joke on this AST... It would be fun having to heal this much if it didn't come down to spamming benefic II for 90% of the pull.
It seems like they were only thinking about 8man content when they designed this AST (which is funny because even that was botched)

I agree that AST is in a really bad spot atm but I think he/she was trying to say that AST will be brought to raids to pad the parses of the other player's dps just so that people can get that oranges, not that AST will speed up the kill.

The thing with this is you then have to ask the question do the buffs provide more dps than the time taking off from killing the fight faster with another hlr, if they do ast will be used for pad runs if they don't ast becomes useless compared to the other two healers.
