did you really just say jumping has nothing to do with he game? by instinct a play jumps one in a while to make them truly feel like theyre in control of their character bc if you only run around using abilities it makes you feel automated, when I pvp jumping allows me to set up an abilties cast when im still moving even if its for a split moment, that split moment makes the game feel alive and immersive and this game completely denies the act of allowing that

While jumping might make you feel like you're more in control of your character it actually serves no beneficial purpose to the game in terms of flow of combat.. (even the way youre managing to use it in PvP, thats not giving you an edge... if anything depending on your situation and who your facing it could hinder/hamper you). You would be right stating that the game would be far worse if we couldnt jump (some of the reasons they added situations where we needed to jump proves that they do think about such things) but they can't and won't add jumping into the game to affect combat because that would require far more overhaul than you believe it would take.

I think part of the problem is you feel so strongly about your stance that you're not willing to see the flaws in your arguments and you're lashing out, whether or not it's intentional is another story altogether. Consider your last statement about stating why you haven't progressed past 50, you imply that people are stupid for not figuring out your reasoning for it, which at the end of the day it sounds like you don't enjoy the game as it is and why would anyone want to spend forty bucks to confirm what they already think?

well, now is your chance. heavensward is free on the square enix site and psn. so if you aren't a steam player you can move on.

SO I came to the conclusion that you are a troll based on these things:

1.) Comes to the forums to share opinion
2.) People don't agree with your opinion so you go "LOL look at all of you getting mad because i shared my opinion!"
3.) Telling people their opinions don't matter, you're right and they are wrong basically
4.) Generally toxic
5.) Refuses to answer basic questions
6.) Saying the game is dying

Some people like action combat, some don't. And that's fine. I hate action combat but I don't go to BDO forums and shout "The game is dying because i hate action combat and it's stupid nothing you say matter, it's MY opinion!"

What i noticed when i started levling up my BLM recently from 50 is how much it changes from 50 on the way to 70. Now imagine that with SMN wich is considered skill bloated (plus the fact that you seem to play it wrong).

Get the free Heavensward (if you are able to), get to 60 and i promise you the difference in combat from 50 migth change your mind. Unless ofc you keep playing the job wrong, then you might aswell just quit the game.
I mean, why waste money on something you have so many issues with and think is dying?

I have my own issues with FFXIV. But not enough to keep me from playing.
There will never be a game where i love everything 100%. I used to love WOW, then they changed my main, the general feel of the game didn't give me joy....so i simply gave all my stuff to a friend and unsubscribed.
I came back for both Legion and BfA but with both i didn't last longer than 2 months (and in Legion i didn't even make it to the new level cap). I didn't go to the forums to shout how the game is dying because I didn't like it.

If you want your opinion to be taken seriously, get to endgame and then come back. If not, you'll keep getting the same responses.

Nah, game is totally dying. I havent done any new content since like, april 16th - thats more then 2 weeks ago! There are less people logging in. Ques are taking longer. Its all over man. I cant imagine any scenario where these situations would reverse. I mean, its not like they can just release more of the game. Some sort of... addition, or enlargement... maybe an extension of some sort. Why has no company ever thought of this? Oh well, games done for. Might as well sell off my stuff and move on.

I understand your point about the combat system. I personally am not a huge fan of this combat system as well but it works at least. For the pace of the combat, it actually isn't that slow after lv 50 and you have to think about the console players who can only play with controllers, 2.5 sec GCD makes sense.

There are many things I love about the game but this game does have some drawbacks; however everyone has a different taste, which you think is a flaw might make sense to others.

Like quite a few people have already pointed out the combat is flawed for most classes/jobs till you hit level 50, but believe me it does get way better as you progress from 50 to 70. Is this a bad design choice? Yes I believe so, I think you should get most of your kit by 50 so that your not just bashing the same 10 abilies all the time. As for action versus tab targeting, it's a matter for your own personal preference, I don't mind either way as long as the combat system is satisfying when using your abilities. But if you think that the devs will change to an action combat system don't hold your breath, making a change like that would require changing the very fundamentals of the game engine.

I had a huge problem with the 2.x story and it's pacing that I unsubbed for a few months after I finished it, if I were you I'd just buy a jump potion to heavensward and save yourself the frustration. The story in heavensward is way better paced and it's actually really good.

This is not wow, gw2 or eso, or any other western developed mmo, ffxiv was developed in Japan and the influence of that is everywhere in this game from the way its systems work to its story and art and its pacing. My advice is stop looking at this game like it's your new wow replacement and look at it like it's a final fantasy main line game and enjoy it for what it is, and not what you want it to be.

But in the end it's up to you if you can enjoy playing this game or not, but in my opinion it's something special

A reminder to people saying get to endgame before you can have an opinion, they still sell this as a basic game and now you get 10 extra levels(to 60) for free, so that means Basic game Endgame is at 60 atm!
You cant really say to people, buy everything for the game and then you have the right to share your opinion.

When the OP is trying to talk about job design without having a job close to max, then people are more than welcome to correct them. Jobs are bare bones at level 50 nowadays—if you want to judge how they function in combat, you need one closer to level cap. Not at level 50. SMN especially is slow at that level compared to what it’s like at level 70.

The combat generally is boring imo. But thats something I’ve said since alpha pretty much. I also think it’s too fast. (well perhaps not fast but requires far to much input for what you get out)
The reason it’s boring though is because skills all feel lacklustre and combat never changes. It’s just a long ass glorified auto attack with a few flashy and sparkly effects that don’t really have any connection to the fight.

Going back to lacklustre skills the problem is nothing looks or feels powerful. And generally nothing is actually seen anyway. I play sam fairly frequently but if you hid the sen bar from me I wouldn’t be able to tell you if an attack animation was kasha or if it was gecko because outside of a different buff icon whats the difference. They’re both just flashes and sparkles lost in a myriad of flashes and sparkles from a bunch of other players..
I don’t want action style combat or anything like that but it would be nice to feel the buttons you press actually do something more add a few sparkles to auto attack. But that’s where I feel its too fast. Constantly pressing buttons but nothing ever actually happens…. Its like the difference between smacking a red striking dummy and a blue one….
