There's also the solo challenges for players to work towards and the higher, more challenging floors. I sometimes jump in solo just to practice the rotation of a job I have not played in a while.
Diadem could have been the same way, though it was designed with a narrow window of relevance in mind. Hopefully Eureka will have a lasting appeal due to being related to relic weapons. It's very worrying that content is designed, typically, with one patch in mind. Sometimes it barely lasts a fortnight before the queues become abysmal outside of prime time - as seen with Rival Wings.
It's not even hard to spruce up old content, either. Throw a new pet or mount into Diadem or POTD every now and then and people will queue up to grab it.

There's not that there is a lack of things to do, it's that you've either been playing this game for too long and already did what you wanted so far or you simply do not care for the content that is actually there.
I'll admit... There wasn't much for me lately. Tried Rival Wings and it's not for me atm. I do not care to raid atm. Almost have every class at 70. But that's fine with me. I have an endless backlog (plus more coming!!).

I haven't got a backlog and Xmas wiped me out (big family) so I've been levelling jobs I said I wouldn't level.
Just have one more dps job (mch) to go (I hate mch so much - sorry mch mains) I can't wait for the end of Jan (already wishing 2018 away lol)
