Isn't it about time for WHM to get an AOE mitigation tool?

Like it has been said before in this thread, the healers are the most balanced they've been since HW.

AST is not the absolute god it used to be due to the balance nerf, and in my opinion, WHM got the best healer kit on SB. Benison is easy to use for tankbusters and has a short cooldown. Thin Air is stupidly strong for all intends and purposes and it renders WHM's MP nearly infinite. Stone IV is a nuke and Plenary really shines on Savage. Let's not mention how Assize got an indirect buff with the removal of Cleric Stance dancing, now being a 300 potency offensive spell AND heal at the same time.

WHM doesn't need a damage raid buff, that would make it the new 3.4 AST. Would I be happy if it did get that buff? Why yes, of course! It's the job I main right now. However it'd cause serious balance issues. I think it's about time people just accept not every job is going to fit in the speedkill meta, like it happens with SAM/MNK and all DPS casters.

Indeed. As I stated, it's pretty easy to misconstrued comparisons like this to suit one's argument in a way to try to pull their own job either in a negative or positive light. If everyone wanted the same tools, what is the point of making different jobs? They might as well make a single job with a single kit and call it a day at this point.

I personally think WHM is fine as it is right now. Pure and raw HPS and DPS and MP potential for maximum longevity means WHM can continue to hammer the arena with healing and DPS without skipping a beat. My comfort level and knowledge of the WHM kit means I know how to adapt and fix most situations to keep the party going and my contribution with my pDPS would exceed what I would most likely be able to add to the group via rDPS+pDPS on AST or SCH.

Would I like mitigation and/or raid DPS utility? I wouldn't balk at it but at the same time I don't want to create a situation where WHM can do everything perfectly either. At that point, that's overpowered.

I see WHM alright, I never really like stoneskin but would't be mad if it came back.

So what this thread is saying is make WHM a SCH? Or is adding more mitigation tools to WHM making SCH like WHM?

Either way, healers are getting closer and closer to being the same thing with just an aesthetic difference. Do you really want that?

Except the exclusion of jobs has never been limited to just speedkills.
Open up PF right now. You'll see parties that are excluding any caster other than RDM, any melee other than DRG. And these are not speedkills or anything, they're simple weekly clears or practice parties.

It's really not safe to simply stop at simply being able to clear content/being viable. Sooner or later, the fact that WHM doesn't have any utility at all, mitigation or damage wise, is going to hit them hard. It's not noticable right now because the damage going out warrants big heals, but how long can they artificially make WHM seem strong like this? If next raid tier doesn't do as much or more damage as the current tier, WHM will immediately be ejected from all parties. I don't think it's safe to keep skating on razor thin ice like this.

Giving you an aoe mitigation isn't going to solve that.

You're still talking the situation of why can't we run double whm. One Healer is always going to not have the aoe mitigation, it's not like anyone runs sch/noct ast

I feel like this issue needs to stop being treated like it's a patch 3.4 WHM vs 3.4 SCH vs 3.4 AST.

I main healer, and have all 3 healers in ilvl326 gear and have no issues healing any content thus far with any combination of healers. (Have not Shin ex, so I can't give an opinion on that) My only thought is that you are trying to dps to much, and not healing at the proper times to negate the need for mitigation. Just my thought.

Ninja is the most sought after melee, and RDM has great utility but they don’t get close to BLM or SMN DPS. I’m starting to think you’re on a server of your own at this point, these things do not happen in PF unless you’re literally searching for the biggest jackasses in the game.

To top it all off, even if this was the case, your suggestion for fixing WHM would have changed nothing. WHM is fine, maybe you need to play it at a higher level to realise that yourself. I’m starting to doubt how much experience you actually have with WHM to be spouting this nonsense every other week.

I don't see how having an almost guaranteed spot in progression is such a bad thing? Most group won't change their roster for speed kill and the vast majority of the player base is in constant progression. Group clearing OS4.5 do not represent most of your player base, so if this majority values WHM in their group for progression (and I certainly do), I fail to see how that put them in a bad position.
WHM are fine by me and beside giving a chance to get a lily from stone I, I don't think they need much change, maybe a buff to that aoe bubble.m I don't know, the CD seems too high for what it does. I can't think of many situation where you need such a long HoT.
