    Isn't it about time for WHM to get an AOE mitigation tool?

    Yes yes I know. "But WHM is the RAW healer".

    Damage is getting stronger and stronger with each patch. Shinryu is quite literally impossible without loads of help from the tanks, the 24man raid even do ridiculous damage without mitigation.

    It's to the point where tanks are mitigating the party more than we are, which is actually pretty sad. A warrior mitigating the party more than a WHM. That is, by all means, a ridiculous thing to say. But it's true.

    It doesn't have to be strong, just a little something for the few times we run into double WHM and have no answer to the excessively high damage we've been getting lately. Right now WHM is the only healer that simply sits still not doing anything useful In the face of damage that could potentially wipe your party, and it's a bit sad.

    Even in regular dungeons I find myself wishing for some kind of damage mitigation tool. I was looking forward to stone skin until I read it was removed. If the PUG is geared well and does the mechs it's fine, but with first timers who accidentally eat AOE's it would be nice.

    Admittedly, this is my first time healing ever in any game so I'm still learning how to keep up and adjust.

    I think I'll try AST but I'd rather be WHM.

    As a WHM main I completely understand this frustration. Twice now I have been paired up with another WHM in Rabanastre and it's certainly challenging.

    I just feel like firstly mitigation is also a tank's job (in many ways it's more a tank's job) so using WAR is maybe not the way I would go about asking.

    I also would prioritize some sort of damage bump for the party over a mitigation tool. If we got mitigation along with our amazing oGCD and AoE healing as it stands I feel like we would likely have to give something up but I enjoy the entire kit as it is.

    Basically I don't think it's the lack of AoE mitigation that will see WHMs fall out of favor but rather the lack of party damage buffs. I know this isn't the subject of your thread and I don't mean to go off topic but in essence my argument is I can't support a change to WHM other than a party damage buff until we can check that off our list.

    I'm in two minds on this one. Personally I'm in the same camp as the above, I'd much rather have some DPS utility than a mitigation tool. That'll bring value to the job in a much wider variety of circumstances as opposed to just filling a gap in a few specific situations.

    How could SE add mitigation to WHM? New abilities aren't going to happen IMHO. Changing PI to be a barrier instead of a heal would be one way to go although it would be a bit of a nuisance for O4S. I do think Benison isn't quite there yet as well though and could do with either being removed from the Lily mechanic or made to scale with Lilies.

    I do disagree that WHM has nothing to do leading into AoEs though, many encounters have frequent enough are to allow you to strategically build PI charges leading into the mechanic (Delta attack on O4S is a good example of this). And if all else fails, precasting Medica II for a mechanic is often highly worthwhile even if it is a bit sloppy.

    Is it really? First take into consideration that the three tanks share what is quite possibly the largest mitigation abilities in the game known as LB2/LB3, and their LB3 in particular has been required to survive savage raid damage. To me, it actually makes sense that tanks have the ability to shield the party because it is their primary role to protect everyone in the group; and even the best tanks have to deal with scripted agro loss, tank swaps, and the occasional mob that slips through their fingers.

    If raid damage is high, the WHM needs to heal it. So I have no idea where you're getting that they are not doing anything useful, and if you truly want the role to shield a party, you just might want to play a tank.
