Logout Measures

I'm honestly ok with this. When I saw people talking about how they were avoiding the AFK boot, and seeing how high pop servers still had a high log in time, I knew it was coming. It's a good option if they pick a time during the day when people are at work/school. It doesn't solve the long term issue of high pop servers having a ridiculous amount of AFKers but its at least something for now...

It think it will help once a day and just if it's at the right moment. High login time is only a thing at primetime. So, just log 'em out right before primetime, but don't ignore timezones.

If login servers can't stand this, think of another solution!

Pretty much this. If anyone should be blamed, point the finger at the people bragging about how they occupy their character before going to work so they can play immediately when they get home, effectively hogging a spot for an entire day while doing nothing.

Thing is, if NOBODY did that, the queues would shrink dramatically and people wouldn't feel the need to. But they will because people are selfish and each of the thousands of people doing that think "it's just one spot."

My money says these are the same people that will speed past everyone in the turning lane and try to merge and cut someone off at the front of the line in the opposite lane. People would rather inconvenience 100 other people than wait a whole minute.

Exactly. Yeah it sucks that they punish everyone, but I mean, theyre also setting an example.

I would also put money on that as well btw....Or the ones that speed past and end up at the same red light as you so you just turn and wave. :P

I learned you're actually supposed to do this in some situations - it's called a zipper merge. Not turn lanes though. For those, you're supposed to leave a gap in front of you at all times so people can merge without interrupting the flow of traffic. There's a cool video on it on YouTube called 'Traffic Waves' that explains it.

All that aside, I agree - this is more like people cutting the line at Disneyworld and saying "it's just one person" - well, it's you and another 2000 people, meaning 2000 other people can't even log in at all.

Can't wait to be 20 minutes in to my 70 minute plus DPS queue only to get hit with "Ayo, you're gonna be kicked in 60 lol. Better do everything fast, boy!"

Nobody could have known after the devs told you a moth before that login queues would get horrible and already said they planned to add incentives for people to leave large servers. Nobody could have known when all players started shouting at early access: "Of course so many people would come back! You should be doing something about it!". But now they do actually try implementing a quick fix that doesn't take months to develop, nobody could have known.

Square Enix could have and absolutely should have completely locked Balmung (and other servers) well before this point. They also need to realize that one of the biggest reasons people don't want to leave is because of their -communities- of FCs, FC progress, and FC housing who already have them. None of the incentives work with actually -moving- those people.

Yeah that's why I specified. There's also the issue of them blocking the cars behind them who actually NEED to turn because they're sitting at a red light waiting while not intending to turn. At least with queue squatters there's not a chance someone gets t-boned in an intersection.

But I digress, a bit off topic. Just clarifying. lol
