Sorry buddy but Power leveling predates WoW quite a bit. Do people even power level in WoW? I thought they just did mindless quests for 30,000 XP each or something ridiculous and leveled to 80 (or whatever the cap is) solo in a matter of days.

You know what games people power leveled in? Everquest, FFXI, DAoC, and Ultima. If your experience with MMO's began with WoW that's fine, but this has nothing to do with Blizzard. This has to do some people being willing to help out others to take a short cut through the grind. Get off your high horse, and just avoid it if you don't want to take part in it (because it offends your high morals).

You shouldn't be so quick to generalize people, I would bet many people being power leveled have more experience in less casual MMO's than you do. They are just doing it to get through a tough patch of levels where they have had a difficult time getting good groups, or to get a skill they need quickly on a class they don't plan to play as their main anyways. I'm sorry I see nothing wrong with this, if they are bad players as a result what is the difference than if they soloed or did guildleves and were bad players as a result of that.

on my server they are crafted...then think they can charge something like 32k for a bronze pickaxe. There is a lot of low level gear in the wards that are selling for insane prices. Of course the npc vendors are obviously cheaper.

The OP was saying he was forced to leave the party, or got his party members stolen from him because someone brought a PL in, in the middle of normal EXP party.

You guys think it's fair to spend an hour or so trying to put together a party, and then in the middle of it, party had to break into halves or disband because someone suddenly remembers that they wanted a PL and decides to bring in a PL? Now look who's killing the fun of other people.

I am not saying they should not be allowed to EXP in a normal party, but at least they should have enough manner not to ruin someone else's party by suddenly bringing in a PL.


If you want to have a PL, fine. Just go and stay with your PL. If you want to join a normal EXP party, that's fine too. But joining a normal EXP party without any notification in advance that "I am bringing in a PL" and then by doing so, you end up crippling the party, making it break, or causing it to disband IS NOT FINE.

There is a solution to this issue, learn to craft your own gear. I have had to do this eventhough there are plenty of 40+ crafters and DoHs in my LS. For my R50 Con they help out and I supply/buy mats. I just don't like asking people to do it for me but that's just me. As for all my other jobs, including my crafting jobs, I have made my own gear. I then look on the wards to see what IS missing for lower level and new players and craft gear FOR them. I usually will price it below the Vendor prices or at least w/e is being sold on the wards by other ridiculous asshats and how they are pricing their gear. There's a difference between making gil and just being an ass.

As for your PL debacle; I can agree but also disagree. There are certain jobs I dislike such as Gladiator. I recently was PL'd to 36 in order to get Sentinal for the 45+ Ifrit battle. That's the ONLY reason it was done for myself and other's on our LS. Some people choose to take the 'easy' route some do not. I have a player in our LS who was QQing about not being able to PL anymore and bitching in LS chat in front of new recruits. I promptly put an end to THAT non-sense by vigorously explaining how that attitude was wrong and that is why they currently CAN'T play their own R50 job.

To each his/her own when it comes to PLing but it is what it is.

So instead of fixing this issue of forcing players to level classes they have no interest in just for a skill to make thier main viable, support powerleveling to encourage this system?

Yes.

Options does not mean support. It means options. If you do not want to get PL but the rest of the party does its your option to leave or stay. Dont complain just leave. There are 8 people in that party and most of them want a PL and if you dont you deal with getting fast xp or you leave.

Christ, @Issac. I wasn't aware of things being like that. I feel a bit nauseated you've had to put up with it and it's actually scary to imagine I might be in that situation sometime.

Up until now I've tried my hardest to recreate FFXI-style leveling, although it's loose and crappily emulated (It's more like duoing casually in WOTG, but we try to stick with hard, draining mobs) and I feel a bit better about avoiding the "real exp parties" of this game.

It's sad how lazy players have become these days in general, and it's even worse that the crutch of easiness has become some kind of hard drug for them.

I really hope you see more quality-insured parties soon. No one deserves to be robbed of an experience- ESPECIALLY those who are actually in it for the experience.

he made the party, a non PLevel party. Some one else changed the deal. that shouldnt be the case. It would be different if he made, or joined a plevel party but that is not the case.

If someone joins a non plevel party, they shouldnt force it to be a plevel party. All you need in a plevel party for max effeciency is a tank, maybe a couple bodies to get links, but since they reduce the overall exp, it may not even be better depending on the camp.

point is, dont hijack someones else party for your own benefit, if you want to leave, leave, but taking half the party with you and starting an argument is a Jackass move.

other problem is will normal parties die out? i really dont know, but i dont think this happens all the time, though i really cant say, i havent pugged much recently.
