See I couldn't disagree more. If SE is OK with this, it's like they're saying, "Yeah half our game's broken, and we wont' fix it so just try to get to 50 ASAP. That's where the fun stuff is."
Might as well make us all 50 and be done with it.

Before 1.19 i grouped with pugs maybe once every few weeks. Chat in uldah was basicly dead. Now ever since 1.19 came out i've pugged at least twice a day and chat is constantly spammed with groups looking for more in all level ranges. Not everyone wants to power lever or can't if they do want to.
This was the first patch that actually gave some life to this game and if power leveling gave some a reason to play again just let them.
As one of the casual players, I think it would have been better to give the player a choice when they made their character, either:
1) To elect to play alone through most of the game, being able to level up somewhat quickly and being able to play with only 7 other people of their choosing from their friend's list that can be managed upon request but is otherwise set in stone.
2) To follow the traditional MMO mechanic of the hours upon hours of grinding and grouping up with random people.
I'd be happy with the first option to be honest, so that all the elitists can quit complaining about people PLing others, but so that solo players can be happy moving at their own pace but not have to slave as much due to their own circumstances that prevent them from committing to this game full time. I don't care if I have to be relocated to a different server compared to others - no compromise is too demanding for this to be implemented.
People don't have a problem really with people being pl'd. They have a problem with a bunch of gimp noob high level people who didn't learn to play their class, and who didn't get the guildmarks and gear they might of needed along the way. No one wants to play with a person like that. Even with solo players, if you solo 1-50, you just learned how to play the game solo 1-50, how to keep yourself alive 1-50, and how to solo do dmg to mobs 1-50, you didn't learn how to party in the game, keep others alive, or manage hate. So those people who are getting pl'd lose some of the advantages of learning. People think "i've partied in other mmos" "or i got a 75 in XI", that doesn't mean you can manage hate in this game, and sure as hell doesn't mean you know how to do our higher level content. They sacrifice learning key concepts of the game right off the bat. None of the stuff in XIV is that hard, but if you didn't pick up key concepts in the beginning, what makes you think you'll learn them while there's more pressure on you to do your job?
Power leveling is boring and even though its in the game, I had much more fun last night in an 8 person party, cutting up hippocerfs and amalj'aa. Great exp and materia to boot.
There's got to be some sort of compromise there. I had no idea how I'd handle myself as a LNC when I first made my character. I was just whacking a stabbing things left and right. Now, I've been able to adjust my tactics accordingly to deal the most damage and it works surprisingly efficiently. I've been able to do some 3 star guildleves near Camp Moss (Or something) and I was able to finish it in less than 10 minutes. However, I still don't know how I'd be able to handle myself in an actual party situation because I have little experience partying with people as a DD. I always played a tank before, both in XI and WoW.
Read the second paragraph before you reply again. I don't have all the time in the world to be playing XIV, neither do my friends. They're not exactly like the hardcore MMO elitist gamer that's being mass-produced thanks to the other W-MMOs. Besides, the only reason I had any appeal to XIV in the first place was because I heard it was going to be solo friendly, and in my opinion, that does not include slaving 72 hours a week doing the same thing others who can play the game full-time with a group and be forced to do so by myself.
Haters gonna hate. (on power leveling)
