Why are people rewarded for cheating?

You're right. In my post there is some defense of botters because people refuse to point the finger at themselves. Feel free to start a crusade against me. I do not care. I've been seeing these threads come up constantly and people go social justice crazy. Then there are people such as yourself that uses shaming tactics instead of actually trying to refute my argument. The reason why there are more RMT sellers on NA servers should speak volumes about that community. This isn't some abstract I came up with. This is from watching players and botters outside in for some time.

I gather shards and crystals as my main source of income, a lot of shards and crystals. I get suspected of botting all the time. Sometimes people say I'm lying and that I'm really a bot, even while having an active conversation with them. Like really guy? I get it, people bot. You think I'm a bot. Go away and leave me alone.

It's sad that it's so bad that anyone with axe in hand is considered a bot. I really just can't gather in peace without someone shoving their nose into my business, and I hate feeling the need to constantly explain myself to them. God forbid I don't instantly reply to them or just turn on busy. "This guy won't talk to me! /sh COME LOOK AT TEH BOTZ!"

This is what victimization does to you. All of this complaining actually empowers bot users. If you start implementing tools that presents a "guilty until proven innocent" nature where everyone is monitored for "unusual" behavior you generally take away some aspect of freedom in gaming. These people aren't playing to have fun. Yoshi P knows what he's doing.

Bots are eyesores. Having a group of multiboxed characters all standing on one another wearing the exact same gear, doing the exact same motions, moving together... it looks ugly in my opinion. They also affect my gameplay if they are attacking mobs I need for a quest. These are the reasons I want them out of my game.

In addition, I feel it invalidates the months I spent learning how to do something the 'right' way when some bozo buys his way there and then asks things like "What's a job?", "Can you level my character?", and "Aw man, I have to pay another $60 to buy a large house." No, thank you, not in my game.

I'm going to hope as well that those caught buying gil and temp banned are also deprived of said gil.

You have presented no argument. All you have said is, "I don't like this thread, stop it" but in a very long winded way. You have presented no logical assessment of the influence of BOTs or the lack thereof. Not only do you blur the focus of the thread, which is the ineffectiveness of SE's anti-botting actions, but you also presented a classical straw man by attacking a group of people (those who buy gil) as if those are the same people in this thread, in an attempt to discredit them.

If you are here to discuss, you should first present an argument, not a rant. I don't think this thread helps the game either, and I don't believe SE is really slacking on anti-RMT/botting. If this thread was in the JP forums, the mods would have closed it by now. But your previous reply really only belongs to a personal blog, not in a discussion thread.

I made a suggestion a while ago that the higher the node the more shards it gives per swing. levels 1-5 give 1, 10-15 give 2. 20-25 give 3 upto level 50 nodes giving 6 per swing. Which would make it less an onerous task to harvest quantities of them thus making it less desirable to feed the gil farmers pockets.

The real problem ain't "Bot this Bot that" but SE too soft to any bots program user, tbh even some people whos using Teleport Hack for "Early pull" on Rank A hunt never get banned and tons of them using it too on FATE grind lol. gg

Don't know if that would change the situation very much though. So long as it's more convenient to just buy the shards from the MB than just go and gather it yourself, people will buy the shards from the MB and bots will farm them. And bots already have the price of shards at rock bottom, because their time has almost no value to it.

Real people subconsciously place quite a bit of value in their time, it's why we craft the things that we believe to make more money, or do the things that level up our classes the fastest. A bot's time has almost no value. They will farm something that has very little gil-to-time-spent ratio, but since they can throw so much time into farming it, they still can make plenty of gil.

I wish I could say I thought that SE did care about stopping botters and RMT but the fact I can't take /busy off ever without getting spammed says they need to do more.

Fine words coming from a person that accuses the opposition that they're actually secretly part of the problem. I've never bought any amount of currency through third-party RMT in any online game, nor have I used a program that let me cheat in an online game, so you can shove that assumption where the sun don't shine.

If you do a bit of reading, a majority of solutions presented by those who oppose the RMT would have no effect on non-RMT players.

Flag players that send an inhuman amount of tells within a certain time frame
The key word here is inhuman. If a player is able to send 100 tells within 10 seconds, they are not doing it legitly. And flaged accounts are then investigated rather than immediately banned.

Give players a report RMT option
This is just a quality of life change, that would have no difference to going through the current annoying task of reporting.

Have a separate black-list for RMT spam, that has an infinite size
If you use the current black-list for RMT spam, it will eventually fill. If it fills, you must then empty it so that you can black-list recent bots. When emptying the black-list, you don't know why they were added to the blacklist. Were they a temporary RMT-spammer that now probably no longer exists? Or were they a real person that you never want to hear from again?

And no, all the complaining about bots actually encourages SE to take action against the bots. SE doesn't want unhappy customers, no company does. If no one was complaining about bots, chances are SE wouldn't even be currently banning bots as it is.
