Sry if that sounded likeI was directing that hostilit towards you Sonic....That was aimed at the ppl who keep trying to use previous FF titles as the rationalization for all the similarities between XI and XIV -saying that both games were drawn from the same source, so of course they'd be similar. That's completely absurd. If that were true, then why is it so much harder to find anything FFXI and FFXIV had in common with other FF titles, than it is to find how much more they have in common with each other. It's b/c FFXIV used XI as a base for a great deal of the content. It's staring everyone straight in the face; they're just too stubborn to see it

Let me also say that this game is in fact not a Sequel to FF11 but I think it should have been and no reason why not or no reason why they cannot one day connect the 2 in story somehow. Nothing is impossible , it is FinalFantasy !
I think the OP is just saying what alot of us who played ff11 feel, and I agree. I played ff11 for 7 years and loved it and when I look at this game while there is alot not in ff11 , there is alot that is!
When I look at this game I just see it like it looks, more graphically better looking than FF11 with tons of new things ! Its like looking at what FF11 could have been with a graphical Patch which in my opinion would have been a better road for SE just in content alone ! -

What makes more sense? FFXI and FFXIV have more in common than any 5 FF titles have in common with another because they drew from the same source? Or they have so much more in common w/ each other b/c FFXIV was designed using FFXI as a foundation? I don't even know why I keep trying to get through to any of the ppl using that kind of rationale. If you don't realize that every single FF has its own common theme of items/NPCs/Jobs/Characters, and pretty much every MMO has common themes(most of which are lacking in XIV for that matter) , and that when combined, FF and MMO will always be a similar idea, then I really feel bad for you. Like I said before: ALL FF games share similarities. That doesn't make them the same damn thing.
Honestly I would say if anything, the game world reminds me more of Final Fantasy 12 than 11.
P.S. I played FFXI from 2005-2011.
I had friends who tried FFXIV and LEFT because they felt it was TOO different from XI. -

I've just read through your 37 posts briefly Khal to try and find these 'brilliant ideas' people are shutting down of yours.
So far, all you've done is call this game XI-2 (despite the fact that mechanically it really is very different, and it's taking a much more casual direction) and cry when people say they want it to go another way. I played XI for a long time, but I don't understand why you want a HD version here? So much of that game was inconvenient and time-wasting, and built around the fact that it was made for the PS2. It's not up to todays standards by any stretch of the imagination.
Also, calling this XI-2 based on it having a FIELD ZONE, a DESERT ZONE, and a FOREST ZONE is beyond stupid, I'm not even going to comment on the fact you suggest an auction house system (I hope to god it doesnt turn out like XI's, that thing was stupid) and chocobos make it XI-2.
Spiritual successor? In theory. Actual successor? Not really.
Honestly, your posts really don't add value. And yes, I will deny this game being XI-2 because you only have to *look at it* to see it isn't, really. -

I've never played XI, so I have no point of comparison. All I can do is watch the changes and make my own decisions based on my own perceptions (which is all reality is) of the changes, and go from there. So far, so good. While I'm a 'little' concerned about losing some things down the road, it won't do me any good to speculate, so I guess I ought to stick to lighter threads like 'post your wallpaper' and asking my dumb questions :)
