Adding some real world elements, while ideal in some scenarios in FFXIV, should not be overly typical as it would subtract from it's lore and magic that is Final Fantasy. Obviously alot of the themes mentioned here have been used alot in FFXI and in other MMO's, if so a bit overly used as some have said. This game need to stay focused on being a FF title with magical lands, mystical and powerful monsters of an unearthly kind as well as it's creatures and races of people, super castle and technical like lands and cities, powerful sword and magical battles, great world spanning adventures and story.lines of love friendship, hardship and a struggle to save the world from evil. The list goes on of course. As for the expansions, I think the first one should involve Garlemald, Al Mihgo and Sharaylan, since their stories seem to be tied together from the get go. Access to their storylines, lands and battles would definetly go well for FFXIV's first expansion. Ishguard as I agree with some, should definetly be a part of the original game and not to mention the final storyline(wich probably how it will go unless SE throws a major curve in it)with the battle against the dragons being a major part of it's endgame. However there is alot of stuff in the current storyline that points to 10 or 15yrs prior to present day, about the wars against the Empire, the sixth umbrial age and the battle of Al Mihgo, with leads me to think there is gonna be another time travel type expansion some years down the road similar to XI. On to the topic of speculation, while it can be a headache and some don't like it, it can also be a good think as we already know the mods and developers are reading into our ideas everyday and sure enough, you can bet some of this "speculation" WILL make it into the game. Just my thoughts on it.
