Yeah, except here's the thing: You don't thank the mechanic if the reason your car needs repairing is because he destroyed your brakes trying to fix the radiator. At least, you don't thank him until he fixes his own mistakes.

That is an appropriate analogy to what has happened with this game. The dev team is fixing what they themselves broke. I'm sorry, but that DOES NOT deserve a bunch of fawning over their work.

All you negativity people are full of crap. The biggest compliment you can give the devs is to keep playing the game. According to you, you've been playing this horrible piece of crap game with only a few ui changes for a year. What does that say about yourself when you're not forced to play?

Its good to give them feedback on things you dont like, but saying they are these lazy horrible people that dont know what they're doing yet you continue to play their game shows how hypocrite you are.

No one is saying they're lazy horrible people. We're saying they don't deserve special thanks for correcting problems they caused.

I mean seriously, what is the rationale behind creating "thank you" threads? This game was almost universally panned when it came out, and even the creators themselves acknowledge it still not even good enough to charge for. I just don't understand the reasoning behind telling the people responsible for that "hey, awesome job guys!" when the problems still persist.

Hmmmm, I see there is some fighting going on ; ;. As I said in the first page on this thread. If you're going to say something negative, don't. Go make a "negativity" thread if you guys wanna complain. This thread was also made before the thousand thank yous one. Also I think the first(probably not). When you buy a game from a company your saying thank you. We said thank you to se when we first bought this game.... then we took it back. They are pretty much remaking the whole game, to those who don't think people need to be thanked for doing a good job, your work life must suck(crappy environment to work in). Ya its there job, they are going beyond what they have to do. That right there for you people saying "I don't thank people for doing there job. I only thank people that go out of their way to do something IE: Open doors ext..." They are going out of their way THEIR TIME to make us a game that we can play for months and years to come. So please leave the negativity on other threads, thank you!

Just because 'it's their job and they are paid to do it' does not mean they do not deserve thanks, and this works for any profession. If you're unhappy, fine, but throwing the actual pleased customer in the mud just for their opinion, is just idiotic. Unhappy customers can write letters too >.>

Saying thanks to the work they have done, especially since several are NOT the original team, can help someone feel better about getting paid for said job and work harder to improve customer service. Again, this works for any profession. I'm not saying don't mention what you're unhappy with either, I know there's some changes I don't like, but that doesn't mean someone's opinion opposite of yours is wrong.

We are not saying Thank you for the game in it's entirety, atleast I'm not (yet), but this game has changed quite a bit since release, and it wouldn't have happened if it weren't for them or else XIV would have been scrapped already.

So to the devs, you have my thanks for your hard work thus far in trying to make Eorzea a better place. Looking forward to future updates!

See this is what I don't get. I DO thank people for doing their jobs, once said job is completed. This job is not, which is abundantly clear from the fact that they still aren't charging for the game, and admit it's still full of problems. That's my point. They're still trying to get back to breaking even on the original agreement they made to the people who purchased this game.

You make it sound like they're donating their time to us as a charity, which is why I take issue with threads like this. That's delusional. I wouldn't really have an issue with people saying "hey, good job working to fix your mistakes, I hope you succeed" but that's not the sentiment these kinds of posts convey. They make it seem like something extraordinary is going on with the dev team doing special things(which you clearly feel they are) for us lucky players, and that's not the case. They're trying to bring a poor product back up to the quality they originally said it would be, and they're not there yet. It's like thanking someone for water when they chained you up and deprived you of it for a couple days for no reason, or a kidnapper getting thanks for rescuing and returning the person they kidnapped. The situation that they're now having to work hard to fix is of their own creation. It just doesn't make sense to me to be thanking them for that, especially when they still haven't broken even.

I will gladly show my gratitude. Do you seriously think that some people only work for money? If they believed in something they do amazing things with it. A lil gratitude never hurt.

I'd like to slap a frying pan made of cast iron at all of you who think it's merely a job or that they are being paid for it. Seriously? Do you even know how most of these jobs work these days? Do you even understand the cultural implications of some of your statements?

With salaries going down and in salaried positions your job is threatened if you don't accomplish said thing by deadline. You are a dime a dozen if you don't finish things you can easily be canned. MOST people who believe in a product also work tireless hours...because their name is on it and they don't want their reputation tarnished.

I would like to see all ye flamers who haven't had the fortunate experience to work in a similar situation.

I've been there...when you work 7 days a week, don't leave the office, forget to eat, spread out a couple chairs in the office to make a makeshift bed, look at your paycheck since it's salaried and you really only got paid for 8 hours of work but did 20 and you worked your weekend away instead of going out to enjoy it. I don't know but I did the math once when I was in software development I made a whole $3 an hour USA...and I'm from the US...and then I had to do the very thing I dreaded most.

What is this dreaded thing? Reading the forums and instead of hearing constructive feedback wade through all the flamers who kill any excitement or energy I had to do anything or desire to continue to want to do anything for said 'idiots' yup I'm calling you the 'flamer' an idiot!

I don't know much about the Japanese work environment. But what I do know is that many Japanese work on the basis of HONOR. They are prideful to be part of the company they work for and their undertakings...they don't want to dishonor their work family. So they'll work their heart out if it kills them.

I'll say one thing...certain cultures are lazier then others and certain peoples are lazy. Certain people work their tails off never assuming or asking for credit. They just feel obligated to do so just because they signed up for the course and they understand. Then there are others that ride along and pretend like they do something...but all they do is suck. And then the people that work hard get enough of the BS and move to greener pastures. Where might you fit in?

A thankless job, feeling used, working endlessly...and nothing much to show for it. There's a reason why many people who enter this industry leave it after a short period of time. Life is too short...
