Edit- Nevermind.. I googled it.
It made me thing of this:

Take the warrior AF as an example. The female version has a slightly different chest while keeping the fake abs. Looks all around decent.
I totally agree with OP. Doesn't need to be skimpy, just a very *slight* form to it. It is just way too bulky on female model. The 6 pack boobs make little sense as well. I am a fan of it on my male Highlander and other male models, just not at all on the female model.
The example above on Warrior AF (and Myth) is a good one. Subtle differences but gender specific still. I feel the Tome armor team was rather lazy this time around (with all gear), and poor Casters got the BRD gear designer. Trololol
Afraid you got that one wrong. It's the male characters who are the eye candy. You're at least a couple decades too late for assuming most video game players are male.
(Industry wide it's about half and half. Action and sports games still draw significantly more males than females, but RPGs bring in a lot of the female players. I've never seen any FF-specific stats, but I'd be very surprised if the playerbase here doesn't have more women than men.)
Nobody has asked for sexy. They've asked for it to fit. And fitting is absolutely essential for armor to be functional. Nobody would be able to fight wearing something that fits as badly as this appears to.
its not functional.
-the arms clip through the body in idle poses.
-the elbow guards are too big, they would restrict movement by a lot.
-the chest plate isn't segmented, restricting movement.
-the shoulder plates would prevent anyone from moving their arms in any angle greater than 90 degrees.
-the middle strip of cloth that runs down the middle. definitely not meant for aesthetics, oh no.
Ok, my main is a BLM, but I'm leveling a tank so:
I couldn't agree more with the complaint on the armors' design. I'm still low level and I thing most of them are simply horrible, specially that trash can model that eats headgear and foot slot. I'm not asking for sexy armor either, but it would be nice to have them adapted to both genders, making the looks a bit more... delicate would be a good way to fix stuff.
In middle ages armor were made based on it's owner's body, meaning, a woman could never fit on a man armor and vice versa.
