Actually, nostalgia is a huge part of it. There's a reason why people always salivate over the latest games, and why indie, or low budget, or technologically inferior games aren't popular (except maybe for how bad they are, in FFXIV's case). High budget games have always been about out-doing what the previous generation/game did, and that includes adding in new features or taking features from competition. No major developer these days is trying to push for traditional or old school games.
In FFXIV's case, I want to say that the vast majority of features that it's missing have hurt the gaming experience. This game shipped with a huge list of s*** that's become MMO standard in the last half decade or so; and we heard of no plans from the old team about modernizing it. Half of that list isn't even MODERN, because its predecessor from the same company and team had it.Quote:
Some features are helpful, some features are unnecessary and end up being cumbersome to the overall experience. Just because something is new and modern does not automatically make it good or necessary.
Jump was a part of way, way more than just one PVE encounter.
