You should've just voke kicked him tbh. Im sure no one would've protested :s
If your tank was like my 'srs deeps tank' then they would of kept pulling so you couldn't vote kick due to being in combat. Honestly I don't mind dps tanks but they should come with a disclaimer saying 'only people who know what to do use this build'.
Well I've just started healing so I don't have many horror stories yet. But my first time in Brayflox I said I was new to healing it. So...Drk pulls everything to the boss gate and I panic since their hp keeps dipping and going up like a yoyo as I heal. The dps were a nin and a smn. That really made me panic. Then they does that twice more until I finally cant keep up and they die and all the mobs slaughter the rest of us.
A run I did of Void Ark tonight on healer where I found myself with a co healer whose gear was all broken. It wasn't that bad at first but became really obvious during the third boss when I kept going OOM even with popping shroud every time it was off cooldown.
@Atoli
I feel so bad for you...
First the tank statement : "it's the right way to tank" as for the no tank stance... Is just... No... Oh hell no !
Yes a tank can drop his tank stance to switch to DPS mode... Yes it is possible and I won't blame the tank
But only and only if he pulled with the tank stance and build his aggro... And if he use cd
There is so much people that believe that SCH can't get oom in mana... When in fact we could easily if we have to burn eatherflow into lustrates instead of energy drain (which give us a huge mana regen)
...
But after that... If à tank do not wait for DPS and do not help the healer a single bit...
Just let him die and burn...
Then step on his body.
Plus as a scholar you can do worse and humiliate him by tanking the remaining target and show him ho to tank (adlo being your CD)
Not really a horror story and more of a *DEEP SIGH* story.
Ran a Trial DR last night on my WHM and ended up roulette-ing into Bis HM. Okay, nothing too crazy, just be ready for the heal check on P2 and away we go.
First red flag - Law geared PLD stating this is the first time they've tanked this. No problem, okay. Wait, is that a Curtana Novus they're using? Uh oh.
Second red flag - WAR tank performs a ready check and the SCH I'm partnered with doesn't respond. It takes them a bit to answer but eventually they say they're there and they're ready as they Swiftcast their Fairy into existence.
P1 pull goes without a hitch. I pop a DK once it's ready while the another DPS pops another. Immediately I realize the SCH is taking far more damage than they should given they aren't tanking anything. It's then I notice that they're actually not really dodging anything. They dodge maybe 1/3 of the AoEs that are directed towards them and eventually they die after the second collision in P1 when they don't move outta the mini-landslide attack. I raise and we move on.
Pop snakes in P2, I Cure and instantly get hate on the PLD's snake. I position the snake for the PLD and begin to heal spam myself hard to keep up with the damage and make sure the other Snake doesn't beeline for any other player and wipe the group. Eventually the PLD gets the hate on me and I put myself into position to heal the group now. It's then I notice that the PLD has also been trying to get aggro (and tank the snake) in Sword Oath. "Well, that explains why they had such issues getting hate on me". I shrug and move on though the second phase was going on for far longer than I would've liked (I think we were risking Astral Flow soonish given how slowly the snakes were dying).
Move onto P3, one of the DPS get land slide'd off after staggered on first collision and SCH continues to be un-evasive with AoEs so I keep a Regen on them and pray they smarten up. They don't and eventually die to AoEs shortly before the two DKs come back online for a second time in the phase. We lose another DPS on Bis' back because one of the adds was still up smashing us and I was focusing more on killing Bis than naught but we kill Bis on that round so it's no significant loss.
Things like this make me wonder and shake my head, but I guess that's MMO life.
[EDIT] Also at lolDPS, I had a Void Ark on Monday where a DPS asked for everyone to please roll on loot after the second boss and once they got their loot they dropped. lol >>;
Not sure if this counts as a bad healing story but....
Ran with a friend who is new to tanking and just got her Warrior to 50. We did Wanderer's Palace, had a BLM and a BRD as dps. I figured, hey, I'm going to level my lower levelled WHM too.
Bard had a serious serious phobia of the giant tonberry.
So much so, that he turned into a pseudo-tank, running ahead, grabbing mobs and yelling at everyone to keep up because "THAT GIANT TONBERRY 1-HITS YOU!!" Wiped a few times because he died and my friend couldn't keep up with the numbers he lured. This repeated for like 4 times, bard always running ahead, yelling, "WHM HEAL ME!".
Nevermind we pointed out that this dungeon levelsyncs you to 50. (Don't know why some 60s think they're invincible in lower dungeons?)
Nevermind a yolodiction / swiftcasted heal immedately turns all mobs' attention to me.
Nevermind a bard isn't meant to tank in the first place.
He raged so hard, saying my friend is a shit tank, we didn't know dungeon mechanics, and that I better "L2Heal". We vote dismissed him after the 4th wipe (not even at the first boss lol) and completed WP with no problems after that.
Also, Void Ark with a WHM that only does Medica II and and protect / SS2 -_-
Stood around for the rest of the time looking pretty. By the end of the 2nd boss, I was wondering if she was bot lol.
I had a couple of bad ones the past couple of days.
Expert Roulette, SMA, PLD warns me that they are going to pull big. Okay w/e, I heal through it all the time. Proceeds to pop maybe 3 buffs the whole dungeon. We died at the wall in front of the Bee boss because they did not pop anything else after Hallowed Ground. x.x Even spam healing with Lightspeed was not enough to keep them alive.
Ran it again today, same dungeon, same class tank. This tank pulled small, one trash pack at a time the whole dungeon. And this tank did use a buff... just one. Divine Veil... every single time it was off cooldown. x.x
A small horror story... a trend witnessed several times in Sohm Al (53) & The Aery (55) where BLMs seem to like being in a total "don't give a single F" mode (regardless of having Leylines) Orz
(I can understand if because of Leylines... but but... is it promoting laziness or something?!)
- Eating every non-lethal AOE
- Ignoring all but 1HKO fight mechanics
- Focus on attacking only Boss & ignoring adds
- Didn't help they always stopped in front of the boss zone gate and faaaar out of AOE healing range too
Wasn't that bad... I went out of the way to throw a regen pre-preemptively & run back and forth.
As long as it was good DPS that helped clear the fight faster rt?...
(but it really showed that they're really not willing to cooperate a single bit besides DPS)
Worst case run was at the final boss fight with Nidhogg who liked to use Sable Weave on the Healer (yay me).
- 1st time, the other DPS was slow to pickup on it and tried but couldn't break the weave in time. BLM continued to Fire away on the boss all the while.
As it was a JP party, the Tank player warned in chat to hit the Sable Weave while we ran back.
- 2nd time, the DRG was caught and I managed to Stone it down to get to the next phase.
But overall DPS was slow and we couldn't burn the final dragon in time. Neither DPS used LB on final add when it was taking long.
- 3rd time, I got targeted by Sable Weave again and I ran in front of him when I was hit with it.
I was ignored... Orz The Tank ran in half way to help but was too slow.
Died again.
I left the party after that.
It felt too much like a slap in the face to be ignored & left to die like that.
T_T
Now every run with a BLM I can't help but feel so critical about what they do because of this =x
Let's all be cooperative please?

In my experience, they usually move in closer upon realizing they're out of range. Perhaps I'm a little mean, but if ranged DPSs don't get my card buffs or AOE heals because they're want to be on Mars (even after telling them nicely to move closer), I'll leave them to fend for themselves with a regen.
I had one of those "I died and it was the healers fault, hes legit bad" Run up to that point had them ignoring mechanics. The first fight of the dungeon (Ampador Keep HM) the bard in question and the tank all ate tones of stacks...but I was unable to heal though that on the tank. lol.
Gets to the crashdown room (in vid) wipe because we missed the DPS check. Respawn, go back in, bard pulls mobs while I am rebuffing..dies before I can catch him. And got smart (watch at 3:00)
But I'm bad....to the bone!

I have a healing horror story from a non-healer viewpoint, that I'm more telling because I was impressed with the healers being able to keep me alive through it....
Was running Void Ark earlier and had our tank DC right after we started, (but before any enemies had spawned), the add phase between the second and third bosses, (the one with the three demon dogs). So naturally for our dog, we let the most defensively capable member of the party take over tanking it, right? Of course! And who better to fill that role than me as the MCH, which has what amounts to absolutely no defensive skills or self healing capabilities? Major props to the two random healers I had who managed to keep me from dying while I MCH-tanked that dog until it's death, because as someone who secondaries healer, I know that couldn't have been easy.....
Don't feel bad. That's how practically every DF DPS seems to act in that boss fight. I've both healed it and DPSed it quite a bit, and it's almost always only people I went in with, or the tank/healer that actually bothers trying to save me if I go up. I've had times where I would say multiple times to the other DPS to help with it, and they don't care about doing anything other than attacking the boss.....
As for the LB thing, I had one run that I was doing as a NIN there where we had a Bard in the group who wasn't exactly spectacular. I told him to LB the dragons at the end of the wipe phase whenever the second one came up, because we weren't doing enough damage to survive. So, what does he do? Absolutely nothing, but says that he'll do it next time. After that we tried again, and when we got to that phase, he once again just stood there attacking like normal. I ended up barely managing to get the melee LB off in time to kill the second dragon and keep us from completely wiping. I honestly don't know what was going on with that Bard, but you'd think that someone who says they understand to do something would, I don't know, understand to do it.....

My healing story of horror. As AST going MVP mode!
Savage a2s gone wrong
Alex 4, dps constantly eating balls of doom with no care for HP and dropping faster than you could yell "RES!".
No one took Dolls off the healers.
I left after the 4th wipe.
I could be wrong, but isn't the OT supposed to deal with most of the balls? =\
Most runs, I've seen OT just dpsing while all the dps scatter to the wind, eating balls.
No the ot in particular
Anyone can take those deadly ball... If they only take one ! (Two at most)
Even healer can because the DoT fade off right at these moment
But doll running on healer means slacking DPS... So baaaaad group !
I noticed this recently, also. Two or three DPS will run off to eat the balls, and just run into them until they're dead. We can only heal so many people attempting suicide at one time >_>
And this was on a constant basis... (been grinding it for shafts for the MNK body)
The same type of person that runs far away after you ask them not to so AOE heals are not as effective and you have to heal them separately wasting MP that AOE would save...
Luckily last night I had a newbie type person in vault but they took my advice and stood close to make chains easier to break, etc. I was so glad lol.
Had a group at the library that just did not get the idea of "do not drag spark balls to the seals that we need to stand on". Wiped a few times and just quit in disgust.
Here's my story. im a TANK (GLD) and i get the aggro of EVERYTHING I fight (including adds).I don't know much about the cards class but, do they have a hard time keeping up with healing? Because everytime one of them is in the party they sometimes stop healing me and start focusing on attacking. So here i am spaming psychic keeping myself from dying and fucking the team over, and then they suddenly start healing again. This happend with 3 card users so far. Is there a trick to their spells or something?
If you're properly geared and use your cooldowns, you (as a tank) are not hard to heal, especially in low level dungeons. Healers who are comfortable with the rate of your HP loss will typically throw out damage spells to make the run go faster. You shouldn't be danger of dying. In fact, AST (card users) have a healing spell that is more powerful the lower your health, so they are probably just taking advantage of that.
If you actually do die, that's something to discuss with your healer. :D
Haven't played that job that much, barely picked it up, but I do know that one of their better healing spells has higher potency the less HP the recipient has left. So some of them will probably hold out for as long as they dare before bringing you back to life. That doesn't mean those particular healers were skilled enough to pull that off -- they could just as well have tunnelvisioned, or 'heard' about how AST is 'supposed' to heal and attempting to emulate that.
Other than that, though, they are (as far as I know) slightly weaker when it comes to healing, something that's supposedly compensated with their card utility... but until you're good at it (which takes longer than the other two healer jobs, according to those friends I have who play it) it can be tricky to have time to use cards without falling behind on the healing. And since they start at level 30, and you're still below that level, your chances of running into new ASTs are quite high.
I remember a while ago I DF Brayflox normal, DPSing at the time, with a SCH healing for the first time. I KNOW it was their first time, cause during the first 2 or 3 trash pulls, they were constantly healing themselves. This went down with the tank and SCH, "what are you doing, your supposed to be healing me, not yourself at full health" "How exaclty do i heal you?" "are you serious?" I couldn't help but laugh.
I tried library last night but the lag was so unbelievable 2 of the players were constantly teleporting and all of us got hit by all the debuffs at the book stage even when we avoided the floor aoes...I gave it 3 shots then we vote abandoned. I've never had nearly that much trouble with that dungeon before.
Trial roulette on SCH, got "that" AST. You know, the one who sees a SCH as co-healer and sits in Nocturnal Sect, overwriting all your shields, and generally just being bad.
Three trips into the Void Ark on Sunday. Went on WHM. Three wipes at Cuchulainn for the first two runs, and finally an abandon for both. Finally, third run, got all the way through and got the boots...glad I didn't hold out for a chest piece because it did not drop.
Still not quite sure why the first two groups failed so hard but healing at Cuchulainn was like being stuck in quicksand. The harder we tried to get out, the faster we sank.
Aha! Welcome back to the game! :D ...... Allow me to assist *Shuffles bars* >:3

It's not that bad, though ;)
XD Thanks! It's good to back. And yeah, I'm not finding it very bad at all with the new spells.
@Gamer3427: Yeah, I read your post in the other thread. And it's actually similar to a run I just had about 15 minutes ago...
I did Sohm Al, my first run, and it was... intense. lol I come back to the game and the first new dungeon I do (I'm not going to count Dusk Vigil because it basically feels like Stone Vigil (NM and HM) 2.0) is a rough run. I also did Ravana which was a tad intense too (both tanks were off the edge by the end but we won) but Sohm Al was weird. People really like to ignore mechanics now or something?
> Second wave of trash the tank died because everyone ignored the poison stuff. We wiped. I quickly learned I wouldn't be DPSing a lot.
> First boss everyone ignored bees.
> Before the second boss a NIN died after pulling dragons when the tank was afk.
> Everyone ignored ALL slimes during second boss, even after I marked the big one. I almost died at one point. I skirted like 100 HP after the big slime exploded, I healed myself, then a slime was thrown at me.
> Same NIN died from ice explosions before final boss.
> Final boss: the same NIN stood in the cleave/breath range.
> After we took out the wings both NIN ignored comet mechanics until last minute and that same NIN died from three comet impacts. Tank dropped to about 200 HP. Bene was on CD!! We didn't wipe!
I got all 3 comms though! :3
Sohm Al is a little bit of a jolt - especially when a tank tries to pull everything at the beginning to the first gated area, while you're on an at-level healer z.z (happened to me when leveling AST, way back (but probably pre-AST buff)....not even light speed helped)
The bees being ignored is the norm, these days - just so you know. You'll see it even with good groups (hell, I and my FC do it, too... it doesn't effect much).
The slimes thing, though...... >___> Bad dps
Advice for one of the future dungeons, the Aery (without trying to spoil too much...)... at the final boss, when you're targeted for an attack that leaves you unable to move/do anything until someone breaks you out (kinda like goal, but you slowly die).... plant yourself in a DPS' face, before it takes hold, so they can't miss you. >.> *twitchtwitchtwitch* (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
