I do realize this, but it's my understanding that it's also a culture where if you make a promise you keep it. Anything less would be considered "dishonorable."

You know how I know they don't mean it in the business sense? Because other threads they've said "no" to, have been closed by a forum moderator shortly after the Dev response was given, no longer allowing feedback.


If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say they're riding this one out to see how much people care even after a Dev response has been given.

That JP thread which was posted as a direct link/explanation of this one fairly exploded with replies after the Dev response on it, with all of the ones I've read so far expressing their disappointment.

You mean that misdirection from the Lead Designer that somehow seems to relate only to FFXIV:ARR and not any other MMO I've played. Go and have a look at the variation in body shape sizes possible in AION as just one example and then tell me about some supposed limitations due to SE adding the other race genders. Even some basic research on game character modeling would tell you that the excuse given doesn't add up.

A number of people care about aesthetics in the game they play due to one reason or another, is that wrong. Do I care about how my characters butt looks, sure do but not for the reason many here seem to think, when the anatomical form looks just plain wrong I can't help but notice and due to my background in drawing then these things stand out to me (it's all in the detail). When muscular skeletal rules are not followed then that's when you start seeing people questioning the aesthetics, which is exactly what the OP is talking about.

When I said "mechanic" I didn't mean it in the sense of something like the battle system.

The fact that they're telling us they reduced our caboose to make the process of creating gear cheaper because it would have taken to much time with the physics involved with multiple new races/genders being released relates it directly to game's mechanics in the sense of armor/clothing creation. So pretty much a Dev mechanic, much less a game mechanic.

Also, the first part of what I posted was related to your statement: "Honestly I can see why the Japanese Developers don't stray far from their home country's forums."

I only quoted the entire thing because people seem to get testy when you annotate. I then carried on with my own thoughts because General Discussion posts are limited to a few a day.


I'm not trying to put down your statements Ravij, and I agree with some of it. The part I don't agree with is that we should all keep silent now that the Devs have spoken because there's nothing they can do about it due to how the game is designed. The proof just isn't there that they "can't" do something about it, just that they "won't" which is what pisses me off. I don't like being lied to, especially where my money is concerned.

I have each version of the game and regularly play both. I also understand about PS3 limitations. I also explained why that should have been a "non-issue" in the post that you "partially" quoted.

I can tell you're a PC player. Why? Because you don't understand the limitations that the PS3 has. Despite the game being brought out on PS4 won't change this fact at all because they won't stop production of the game for PS3. So the limitations will remain intact.

PC's can be opened up and adjusted/upgraded to adapt to new technology. PS3's can't. To combat this they come out with a new version.

The post you snipped was my idea as to WHY the JP dev team doesn't bother to come over to the NA forums. And I stand by that statement. We are treated equally but quite frankly the English forums are very annoying.

Honestly LoLo, anyone has the right to post their opinions on this subject here whether or not they actually care for it. It's General Discussion! Here for everyone!

I've also witnessed people saying far worse things on these forums than "ass" haha, and they remain unbanned.

It's Tanaya's prerogative to either read all the posts or not, and there's nothing anyone can do to change that.
I'd say move on and drop it. Tanaya has been respectful and clear that he/she does not care for the subject at hand, and arguing with them accomplishes nothing other than to derail the subject.

Aside from you still focusing on the fact that the butt was mentioned I'm going to ask you a question.

If character visuals do not matter or effect game mechanics then why aren't people using more Roegadyn since racial stats dont matter in this game?

I agree with you that NA forums are annoying but I do not agree with how some things are being handled as in everyone being treated fairly.

Kittra: you are right. I am just trying to voice that the OP isn't unstable for noticing the character model being change. But its falling on death ears.
