As an ex SMN
I do expect them to raise if there is one in the party
I know they can pull a huge DPS but they also have a lot of support skill
=> It shouldn't be wasted

Not exactly a horror story, but had a blazing neverreap group and towards the second boss, the tank just..leaves. This isn't the first time either. I'm wondering why, because things were dying so fast, and she barely needed healing so I was able to do a lot of DPSing. I hate it when good tanks leave. :( stop leaving. Even when the run is over, take me with you >_> some how.
Been doing a lot of PVP and seeing healers get yelled at for not healing when the issue is that the dps are way off on their own or just generally out of range of healers. Either that or the healers are being focused and can't heal. A little situational awareness goes a long way; if you're not getting heals, check and see where you are in relation to the healer and whether they are free to heal before you just assume they're doing a crappy job. Cleric stance is disabled in PVP so they probably aren't dpsing which means something else is going on. This is especially frustrating when you zoned in as another job and then switch to healer because there aren't any. >_<
Exactly. As a healer I feel the mp hit for every raise. As SMN I only notice if I've had to do several in a row. I make sure the dots are up first but I think swiftcast+res adds more to the party than one more ruin.
Along those lines, 2 stories for today:
As SMN in trial roulette I get Shiva. One of the tanks says they don't remember this fight or how it differs from extreme. We tell them just don't face Shiva towards the party. That's their one job...
Everything goes well until after the adds and then the tank turns her wrong .. and there go both healers. Swiftcast + res on one, virus on Shiva, then start slow res on the other healer. The raised healer doesn't manage to keep MT up, so next is ressing the MT. Reapply dots, aetherflow (thankfully) .. and the second healer is dead again. Swiftcast+res again and fortunately the rest of the fight goes fine.
And the only one who noticed all the raises is the dragoon.
As WHM doing leveling roulette in Cutter's Cry. The run in general was great and the tank was happy to clear everything for xp. The ninja though... He ate every circle aoe. So 2 deaths to non-stunned Shrapnel in the corridors. Not too bad until Chimera. Chimera seemed to know that the ninja was having issues dodging and kept using Ram's Voice over and over and over. Every time - one shot dead ninja. After the second time my mana was starting to run low so I let it rebuild (and for shroud to come off cool down). After the 4th time I just left them there.
If a DPS die more than 2 time i just let him est the ground step on his Ass and laugh until the pull is done...
To follow again about smn raise, they have a lot less mana problem than us healer (and yes a smn has less mana problem than à SCH)
I remember during second coil always telling my healers that I will always raise first as long as i'm alive
I cannot help but raise even if there is a SMN in party. It just comes natural to me to do it.
Really? When I'm a SMN, I raise all the time. If my SC is on CD, I'll try to wait for it to come off (unless there's more than one or so dead), but other than that? I'd rather raise than have the healers raise, tbh. If people are dropping like flies than they need the mana. Keeping dots up isn't really that hard. I leveled mostly as a SCH though so...
I think this counts, it's been awhile so I'm trying to recollect what happened
I go into Thornmarch with my partner (my tank, so we always get queue'd up) and our second healer is a WHM clearly more powerful than myself. It was great and all... except they had this nasty habit of casting Medica on everyone right before the second phase. I'm sure we all know how emnity works .v.;;; That being said, I was not only in charge of healing our tanks (that particular run we ran with one of our DPS friends who was slightly undergeared) but our healer was rather squishy so they were on my list of people to heal too.
Oh, and did I mention that both myself and my tank asked her nicely in chat to hold off on the Medica, touched on how emnity works, and I asked nicely if they could be a little more careful?
I forget how many times we wiped .u.;
Fought Twintania for the first time today, along with some other newbies.
A more glorious failure the world has never seen.
A1: Get into the instance and the other SCH shouts that no one better troll them, they're not in the mood and if you troll you're not getting any heals. I plant myself on one side while the other SCH takes her side. Healing's going fine but I realize I don't see any SCH DoTs besides my own. I get curious and watch the other healer.
They're running in circles all over their side of the map like a 2.0 bard. Barely healing. I roll my eyes but don't say anything, because we're still going to beat this and maybe this is just their way of dealing with their anger.
And then Nisi comes along and their manic bard wannabe jogging circle intersects with me and BOOM.
We vote abandon.
Immediately I notice about half the people from the abandoned group are here, including the poor well meaning tank who unknowingly mixes me up with the other healer and very politely asks me "please don't run around in crazy circles this time?"
Rage and laughter was had in the privacy of the FC chat...
Don't know if this counts but I had to heal as a THM in Haukke since the healer left VERY suddenly and it took a great while until we got an actual healer. Just to make the whole situation weirder, the one that was Tanking was a Dragoon. The actual Tank couldn't seem to hold aggro at all and I'm honestly unsure if they even used their skills.
The Dragoon was a pretty decent Tank!
A more healer healing moment would be that during a Frontline run(The 24 people one) The healer and I got a lot of shit because we were apparently 'Only healing ourselves'. Best part was that everyone in the party was so spread out that it was impossible to find someone to heal and ever more so to get to someone in time to heal. The last straw was apparently when I accidently used Raise instead of Divine Breath on someone because I got kicked right afterwards.
We were losing anyway but I'm still baffled as to why they would blame the healers for it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Dragoons are a perfect substitute tank yeah. Had one recently that I had to treat as one vs last boss of neverreap, as the actual tank jumped off immediatly at the start.A bit more healing requiered, but no real issue.
Did my leveling roulette on my AST earlier today, landed in Deepcroft with two BLMs and a GLD for the tank wearing mostly level 5 year and using her starter sword.
They were still using abilities like Shield Lob so they'd clearly done his classquests, just didn't equip the gear. After bringing this up they said they liked the way their current armor looked more and didn't change it.
Wound up with the tank not holding aggro and me just heal-tanking most of the content while the BLMs DPSd everything down.
Want to know the scariest part though?
The GLDs main was a level 50 Lancer. Not a Dragoon, a Lancer. That's gotta take some serious carrying or dedication.
*cough* I still haven't unlocked my DRG. And I've only done the lvl30 BRD quest (despite being level 45 -- but I guess I'll have to go do all of those now to get me some gear ^^; ). Of course, I don't really play those outside of solo or preformed parties or below-or-around-30 content, so it's not a huge detriment ^^; I like my Barcher and Lancer having access to Protect/Stoneskin.
But, of course, those are so far from my main class/job that it's not even funny anymore ^^; I just want to get them to 50 for the pretty glamours... *shallow*
To be fair, if you looked them up, I think there may be a bug displaying jobs. I was looking up some people in my FC who I know have several jobs unlocked and none of them were displaying.
That said I have no patience for a tank unable to hold aggro because they think the worse gear looked better. I put up with looking like a box in that horrible tank gear for ages.
When you've been fighting Ifrit EX with a derp DF group for nearly an hour and finally have him down to 8% but your subscription runs out and cuts you off right at the end of the battle

Had a stellar group going for the Library but the tank dropped out on us before the first boss because he hit 60. Somehow we got a tank who had "Join party in progress" which almost never happens. This example of saintliness by the tank inspired me to turn on party in progress while grinding Fractal Continuum for gear/tomestones today so that I may too help other poor souls.
I regret that decision immensely now.
Just walked away from what is surely the worst healing experience of my life to date.
We get into fractal and right off the bat, the tank SPRINTS away the moment the instance starts. No problemo, I think, perhaps he's the type who waits before the first group for buffs and all that jazz.
NOPE.
Grabs 1st 2 mob groups, had to swiftcast Prot, and Lightspeed to heal him. After the first boss, he runs to grab 2nd two groups. LS is on CD this time as I've just used it to cast Prot and SS. He dies, we all respawn and we come back to the same spot. And guess what happens? He runs off AGAIN before my prot goes off! After a few seconds, he runs back to us and tells me to prot him. So I do, but since the mobs are already on him and LS is still on CD, he suffers another death. Cue blaming the healer for not healing him. Ragequits DF.
Sorry, I don't think Benefic can cure stupidity. Also, I don't know why it's so hard to wait a few seconds to get a proper protect -_-
Had a few horrors, but they're spread out and I haven't been as actively posting.... (too much irl crap going on)
Ran A1 after a short absence of Alexing. I'd gotten my AST up to 60 and started to use it in level 60 content (60 dungeons/raids/EX) and I'm using the Gordian/upgraded Law gear from my WHM (Eso was WHM specific...), so figured, "hey, I've had some practice, time to try it out in Alex".
I get a WHM as a co-healer. Naturally, I go into Noct stance.
Right off the bat, my DF'ed co healer remarks,
WHM: "Wow Saseal, dat stance"
At this point, I'm just kind of "wait, what?"
WHM: "I almost never see an AST go into that stance when a WHM is in the party LOL"
I'm confused... I can't tell if they mean they always see AST go Diurnal with a WHM present - which isn't bad at all, but not something I ever see - or do they mean something else? They can't mean the Noct stance being bad, right? Isn't that normal...? So I try to half joke, to feel out wth he's talking about - "lol is this a good thing or a bad thing? xD"
A tank: "Good thing"
WHM: "Bad."
Wait, what? Why would this be a bad thing? It's almost like a WHM/SCH pairing, in Noct, and every time I'm on WHM paired with a DF'd AST, they go Noct.
Is this some kind of new shiz I don't know about?? He's trolling, right??
I switch to Diurnal, wondering if there's something I just don't know. "Noct should only be used in pvp".
Errr.... I know Noct ASTs are hard to kill in PVP, but...... wat?
While I'm confused as all holy hell and typing to my FC mate, who had queued with me, 'wtf is he talking about?', the WHM then starts toxifying further, when we reach Faust.
One tank says nothing and does nothing. The other tank, who had responded earlier, states they don't want to MT.
So, we stand there staring at Faust for a good while. Somewhere in there some, someone pulls (memory is fuzzy as it just went all to hell here).
It's...... it doesn't go well. At all. While I heal till my mp is dead - luminescence and ewer cards and all - I end up resorting aspected benefic and Collective Unconsciousness over the MT while the WHM heals, so I can at least regen heal the person while my mp slowly recollects.
We crashed and burned while Faust was at about 8%.
I switched back to Noct >_>
We get back, the WHM is still blabbering on like his personality was a sewer and next thing I know, the WHM attempts to kick the tank that seems to actually be a living, breathing person, all the while LOLing and being an ass. The tank leaves, the WHM laughs and leaves....
Somewhere in there (it's seriously hazy... this was maybe two weeks ago? On top of sorting my own confusion out) the remaining DRK tank pulled, then ran out of the barrier, for no apparent reason (probably didn't notice we were down some people). End up with another healer - an AST - and ended up one-tanking Faust and the ADDs.
Luckily, after that, things were better. >_> *Clings to that other healer for sanity*
It made me doubt everything I knew as AST and experienced as WHM pairing with an AST, that I went into Alex again right after, into A3. Lo and behold, another WHM. No word on my Noct stance.... but also not a single peep on any Regen for any tank. They stood in everything and just sorta AFK'd unless they needed to tetra or bene. Maybe they did more, I don't know, but it certainly didn't feel like much else was done... I'm pretty sure everyone here knows when they can feel they're doing double duty. Thats what it felt like. Hell, they just stood there and took a nap in the center of the room when Jiggly-butt turned into a water puddle and the slimes came out (not KO'd just standing there for a while before waltzing out of it). By all means, make the Noct AST solo heal.
z_z
In a different event...
This was on top of a SCH's comment after an A3 run, while I'm on WHM, in which I had a hard time keeping up with the AoEs in the last phase's Raid-wide AoE spam/Cascade, no matter how much I had to spam Medica/II, people were just taking tons of damage and standing in everything (not moving when marked, and not even moving out of the following AoEs from other nearby people in that duration, etc)... AND the DPS was super slow (I've never seen so many rounds of Cascade... and we hit enrage/wiped, the first attempt with this group) - something along the lines of never having been a scholar not able to DPS in A3, before. I couldn't tell if this was a remark against my healing and heaven forbid they had to help/not DPS, or if it was a remark on the party making it too difficult on the healing.
But me being me, I assume they thought I was crap. -_- Everyone blame the healer, including the other healer! \o/
-___-
ALmost back to back, that's a +100 to insecurity in my healing. Awesome.
Well, whatever.
At least my first Void Ark run was <3? *Hugs the lala co-healer*
Saseal - All the more reason why I don't heal in trials. All that WHM should have done was just shut up.
Couple of things.
1. SPRINT from a tank is a red flag. No good times there, ever.
2. He was still going to die even if you had LS and protect up. Because a dumbass tank that blows all his TP at the very start, is likely to be a tank that don't use CDs either.
3. I've noticed tanks running off without protect a lot recently. What the hell is up with that?
I've noticed this as well, figured I was just getting the luck of the draw... The moment that gate drops they're off, and in my experience those that do this tend to bite more than they can chew in terms of pulls.
And what's with all the ninjas? Getting at least one per group, often two, in most of my runs the past two days.
You sure get some of the worse co-healers you can get on DF ;-;
Anyway, as a main WHM, please DO use Noct Stance when paired with a WHM (or at least me). Healing with a shield specialist gives me much more security for everything when healing (and I really hate being paired with other WHMs because we end up using Tetra and Bene on the same target and same time, since it's hard to know how your co-healer plays on DF. That's one of the reasons I try to queue with my SCH friend for every 2-healer content in the game.
I usually don't have a problem with tanks sprinting right off the bat because they're usually (keyword: usually) smart enough to wait for the rest to catch up and for healers to buff and stuffs. It's the arrogant sort who thinks they can tank through everything without waiting for healer to catch up or buffs to come, and merrily blame everyone but their own selves when things go south.Quote:
3. I've noticed tanks running off without protect a lot recently. What the hell is up with that?
I think some of these folks need to go back and learn the basics of squad mechanics in DF before they attempt higher content.
As a NIN main, this is spot on.
The only Tank I can think of that can pull off the Sprint on the get-go is the PLD... DRK seems like they can pull it off but... haven't seen nor tried myself... yet-but-however, I've seen that happen on horribly overgeared dungeons like Halatali HM.
WAR Sprinting is never, ever, good.
I've a new healer horror story, from last night... Void Ark...
Almost had a healer/tank carry at the blobby boss. Almost.
I don't even know what was happening... first time into Ark, we had a number of new people, myself, my co-healer and 75% of the rest of the party and a number in alliances announcing newbness, included. Everything went like warm butter. Only a few casualties. I frapped my second time in with assumption that Weds would still have okay groups running it (not the 'end of the week insanity'), and I could show not-yet-raid-initiated friends in lower levels.
But this.... I don't know o.o
If this becomes common.... I suggest this boss... not be DPS LBed... and LB3s saved for healer LBs...
Though, I do know I threw out more raises than I probably should have. *Slaps own face* MP? whats MP? >.>
This was the worst portion, but before that, in the trash areas with the Knots, the group was split between our designated area and a different group's... so the Knots weren't going down and we/the healers had a hard time keeping up with the poison stacks from it.
Lastly, we didn't kill the three ADDs in the final boss fast enough and auto wiped... (too much focus on one ADD and not enough DPS split between the three)
Edit: ......only now learned standing on the platforms makes things worse....
Still some figuring out to do, with the new raid >_>
the diadem 2 brancho w/e star dinos stacked on top of eachother
earlier, a bunch of rank 3 adds and 2 rank 5 adds in the diadem
Here is a new one to add into the Hall of Shame.
Got a Warrior at Sohm Al (he was synced down from 60) who kept doing massive pulls with two Ninjas who simply don't have the DPS to burn them down fast enough, but to add insult to injury, the Warrior:
A) Does NOT use Vengeance
B) Does NOT use Bloodbath
C) Uses Foresight less frequent than its cooldown suggests
D) Possibly did not use abilities on the Maim side of combos
E) No Steel Cyclone to assist in AOE damage (although it won't help much, you'll see why) and uses most of his V stacks on Inner Beast or Unchained at random times
F) No Mercy Stroke used either, now that I think of it
G) Gets the idea that Convalescence buffs Thrill of Battle
I wasn't surprised to see him completely invested in VIT accessories if he plays like that.

I'm glad I'm not the only WHM main who feels like this. Most of my healing horror stories are because of the other WHM healer. I have so many, but they're all basically the same thing: they spam medica I and medica II and don't use sos or asisze, depleting their mana before boss is down to 50%.
I just prefer to handle all healing duties. Other healer can DPS for as long as they want. AKA, I don't trust other healers. In diadem I was in a party with a co-healer the first time. It was ok, but I still was the "dominant" healer, like I want to be.
Guess not really a horror story but in the new dungeons I got kicked for not healing fast enough. No one died and it was mainly because I was dealing damage.
Tank complained about having to use cooldownd then I got kicked after the second boss.
had a whm in diadem, stayed in cleric stance the whole time, didnt heal whatsoever, didnt help me revive, party wiped once on normal mobs cause of them, then wiped on a star rank for the same reason cause the whm wouldn't help heal or even revive
Diadem (especially Dino island) is a pain for every healer playing on console. Due to overlag, it feels like you are fighting multiple Odins all at once. Quite often you can't see, let alone target, someone supposedly right in front of you. And when LoS is broken with rocks... even worse.
That LoS is a total pain. Only healed it once so far but I ended up getting frustrated because so much stuff is happening people run all over and I'm constantly missing heals because of rocks in the way. It's also annoying when you are fighting the star level monsters and stuff just keeps spawning on top of you. They have some big attacks and you constantly need to heal and cleanse but you end up with low fps or stuff attacking you from all sides because of so many spawns and players in the area.
I had the most delightful tank in A2 today.
Tanking wise there was no problem really I think, but when we arrived to the boss room the Tank ran straight into the room and started the fight...
..With half the party still outside, FAR away from the boss entrence.
Best part was that they didn't even notice that most of our DPS:es were outside the boss room, when they noticed that our single DPS wasn't killing the mob fast enough they just told the DPS:es to 'Step it up lol'.
I outright stopped healing them after that since there was no way we would be able to make it with one Bard.
After the wipe they honestly couldn't understand HOW everyone could not be ready after the trash mob before the boss room and simply left the party.
I honestly really hate it when tanks just rushes into a boss room without getting buffed and especially when they don't check to see if everyone is nearby.
Mistakes can happen of course but that Tank honestly didn't care.
