I'm confident enough to do most of the dungeon content as DRk (I have a DRK and WAR on my main and a PLD on my second alt) but since I'm playing less, I haven't repeated the story content enough to be confident for tanking the trials. Usually all my characters have one of each role (for variety). I needed a lvl 80 character to start story (and grab SGE) so I did the one class I hate leveling. XDQuote:

Reading this thread, some guys are like "save LB3 for the tear" in the Chrysalis is a mandatory mechanic, otherwise is a wipe. Far from it, any decent party can pass the add phase from just dpsing it, not LB3 needed, and then blame any dps sprout using LB3 on Nabriales like they did an unforgivable offense. Talking from experience here.
"Only tanks soak meteors" now, THAT is a good advice. -

I just wanted to post a positive duty finer experience.
Today I finally finished Stormblood for the first time (V'aren Rhiki is my original character and the one I did it on). Did I mess up on the first boss because I got confused and get killed? Yes, yes I did. I made it through the rest of the dungeon without issues.
Not only did the group wait patiently for my cutscenes but they waited after the dungeon just so that they could cheer me on into Shadowbringers. Rave sticks and all. It reminded me how really terrific most people are in this game overall.
It was exactly what I needed as Stormblood really didn't grab me and as an end result took me near a year to finish. I actually feel hyped up to move into SHadowbringers. Thanks to those 3 wonderful people who never forgot what its like to see the first time. -

Aglaia is the gift that keeps on giving. I don't plan ahead very well so I'm back to glam farming.
Some of the runs are really nice. Speedy, everyone knows what they're doing, no problems. Even had my first run where we skipped scales at Nald'Thal now. Guess the one time my group got close we just didn't get close enough sadly.
Some of them you have 5/8 people in your alliance getting dropped off during Byregot, and someone is trying to vote kick you immediately after the boss because you said you weren't paying and asked what happened when they all died. I don't know, maybe it was rude. I didn't mean it that way.
Then there's the run with a new tank who doesn't know mechs but is determined to tank anyways. The whole alliance hates it, people are asking me to tank because apparently the other tank is dying to mechs somehow but it's just not worth it when the first couple of times I did try to take it they sat there provoking. Oh, and new tank's party is defending the behavior. Please, just leave me be. I'm not going to fight over aggro every 30 seconds. -

Had a tank in the tower of zot today flat out refuse to do w2w on the final two pulls. And that's absolutely fine. The final pulls of Tower of Zot and Tower of Babil are a bit rough, and the healer agreed to it when they told them.
After the tank stated that they wouldn't be doing them they also said "team ain't it" though. That attitude just really, really angered me. I didn't say anything, and no one else did either but still.
We had a new comer BRD, who was falling for every mechanic during the bosses, and not super fantastic DPS, but myself and the AST were fine. More than fine, I was doing close to half the parties DPS at all times as RPR. I don't need a DRK that's collecting Vuln stacks on the first and last bosses while not knowing what Plunge, Dark Mind, Dark Missionary and Oblation are to belittle the party like that. -

Everyone was single target, the tank was single target, the bard was single target, the tank would single pull...know who WASN'T single target? The healer. Just spammed helios over and over. -

Leveling roulette dumps me into Dzemael Darkhold. PLD, WHM, NIN, BLM. Tank wall pulls everything before the first boss (pretty standard, the crystal light stuff does crazy damage reduction) and all goes well. Then tank asks "you good with big pulls?" and healer says "uh sure." Then tank proceeds to pull everything into the next boss room, all 14 mobs (and yes I unsynced it later to count lol). It goes poorly lol. The tank is already dead before the poor BLM even gets to the party.
But it does make me curious if that pull is possible outside of old sac strats. I'm sure it is with the right party comp, but it's probably better left to premades (or at least parties where both DPS can AOE while running).
Not curious enough to try it myself, of course, but curious regardless. :D -

Highlights:
- We wiped 3 times at Angra.
- I often died because the Tanks were dead and I took aggro.
- We used Healer LB3 at Angra.
- It was made worthless because nobody was killing adds while I was dead, and thus they blased us with Eyes On Me as soon as we got up.
- People started leaving(rightfully so I am just insane) and Alliance C remained without a Tank for the rest of the raid.
- We had two Disband motions, I voted Yes both times but it did not pass either time.
- Rest of the raid was comparatively smooth but still notably slow.
- We did Belly twice on Cerb, the second time the HP hit that Cerb takes killed it.
- We saw Succ twice at CoD.
- Worms never happened thankfully.
And people have the gall to say CT is dull, this was the most exciting Alliance Raid that I ever did, in the worst way possible... -

Had a Stone Vigil last night. Had swapped to AST just to level it. During first boss (iirc one of the first in the game with no owie orange markers for some AoEs, you have to read its castbar and/or clue in on its physical behavior), one of the DPS in the party decides right in front of boss, next to tank, was a great place to stand. Since he has an unhighlighted forward conical AoE, DumbPS gets downed. I swiftraise him, and admittedly this is my bad to some extent, I didn't immediately heal him, assuming he'd be cognizant of his raise invul and give me a GCD or 2 to deal with tank's health dropping like a rock with Essential Dignity long since on cooldown. AST, mind you, not having a particularly strong area heal, especially at this level, and besides which I wasn't gonna cast an area heal with pretty low potency for just two actually-injured party members when I could barely keep up on tank with GCDs after losing time on the Raise (I'll admit I'm not a perfect healer, I know experienced ones could've weaved a swiftraise I without losing a GCD, mea culpa).
Mind you, I was assuming a person who stood in unmarked AoEs because he hadn't yet learned/understood them would also be aware of raise invul.
Nope, he immediately runs back to stand right next to tank and presumably starts attacking immediately, because mere seconds later he's already dead. Obviously, I'm not gonna slow raise, and at this point even a slightly-buffed lightspeed-aided raise would still cost me several precious GCDs. Screw it, leave him.
He starts raging in chat, first time I've ever seen the quintessential "uh where was heals???" (he had also said it after first KO). The second time he goes "heals???" Followed by "tank taking aggro??????" Mind you, tank never lost aggro and had stance, poor DumbPS apparently thought the boss aggroed on him rather than him standing in an AoE.
He ends up ragequitting, naturally, while I'm typing something like "heals was keeping tank alive, who had aggro the whole time. You were standing in an unmarked AoE, some bosses don't have marks for every one they use". I send it basically right as he quit. Well, okay, he didn't get the lesson I guess. Other DPS, tank, and I all collectively agree it was entirely on him, and just resign ourselves to a slower run after having a bit of a giggle; fortunately, we got a join in progress DPS only a couple pulls later. -

I want to say yes IF everyone is with the tank AND both DPS have AoEs and use properly. Also the tank does their mitigation and cooldowns right.
Also the healer ONLY focuses on healing.

Why do some people need to have their res macros and it's normally the one that have "Why can't you just stop bloody dying for once" type stuff in them set to other channels besides party chat? I had a person one time have it set to alliance and party chat.
Also why do so many healers choose to slap a regen or a shield on everyone in between trash packs? And I'm not talking medica Ii or aoe shields.? I always put E. Diagnosis on the tank as SGE because it gives free Toxikon to me. And as for normal Regens, well there have been cases when while pulling the trash they slap hard and it's the one time tanks rarely use a defensive (like Aurora or Equilibrium).

04-06-2023, 01:29 PMVeyaAkemiI mean why not? it's not even a waste of MP considering that Healers have more MP than they need as is short of needing to Res spam, and sometimes it's just ensurance, I often rip aggro from the Tank during the run because I will attack while running, and Akh Morn/Technical Step have a thicc enough potency that it can easily rip away the aggro because the Tank likely hit the pack once, it's never really a problem because I can rely on the Tank to pick aggro back as soon as we stop, but if the SGE wants to dedicate an Eukrasian Diagnosis to me, I will welcome it.Quote:
