You probably should. If you don't, it will likely run out either during or before the next Blight (during the bee), and it has been ticking for probably a good 5+ seconds (unless you happened to apply it as Blighted was being cast).
If you feel your DPS is good enough to let your DoTs on the boss run out as you kill the Bee, by all means do it. But I'm going to maximize my DPS
You learn to Play with your group, my dps is really high my friend ask anyone on Couerl.
Clipping dots is not maximizing btw.
Letting a DoT drop is worse DPS than clipping it in this case, since you're not choosing whether to DoT or, say, use a buffed FT...you're trying to keep as much DoT damage going while dealing with mechanics that cause a forced interrupt of your rotation (in this case, in two ways)
Do you not stop your combo to HT - ID in preparation for Conflags on T5 (pre-echo)? Similar situation in T6.
dude i know how to play my class trust me, but to tell someone new to always do that is wrong, and to clip dots is wrong, i know how to keep substained dps, i do over 350 on t6. I Know whats going on.
thats if im not devoured of course.
-Full Thrust combo has a total potency of 680 and an average potency of 226.67 (680 / 3), not qualifying Heavy Thrust or Disembowel (which hurts my credibility, but go along with it for a minute please.
-Chaos Thrust combo has a total potency of 900, and an average potency of 300 ([600+300dot] / 3). However the total potency exceeds FT at a mere 3 ticks of CT (600+90).
Phlebotomize is 320 total. 170 (0 ticks) > 195 (1) > 220 (2) > 245 (3) > 270 (4) > 295 (5) > 320 (6).
If you clip Phleb as much as 2-3 ticks early or CT as much as 5 ticks early, it is still way over net positive from the "baseline" of TTT. Discounting cases where you applied a buffed DoT and clip it with unbuffed, but even then you'd have to crunch some numbers to back that up.
DoT clipping is not a crime.
Except its NOT wrong to clip DoTs if the situation calls for it. If you happen to have the perfect group DPS where everything lines up perfectly, good for you.
A new person will not have that.
And it is better DPS for them to re-apply everything in preparation for the Blighted Bee than it is to keep plugging away at TTT and having no DoTs or Dis ready for the add. Blighted, especially for people not used to the mechanic, is a stop in the rotation, sometimes such that you have to start over anyway. And if you die because you're not ready, trying to get one more ability in before preparing for the add...well, 0 DPS is worse than clipping DoTs, for sure.
My dots dont run out, just cause I disagree with what he is saying does not in no way mean i dont have dots going
Either way GL in your adventures!
Anybody got any hard numbers and proofs for accuracy cap for T9? ^^ have a nice day stabbing things..in the back ^^
I did T9 yesterday and missed a few Piercing Talon's during Iron Chariot from the front at an Accuracy of 497. But I'm at 100% during flank/back positions with the boss as well as golems.
Since I have this up. Does anyone have any advice as to what rotation I should be going into during the golem phase? My dps seems to drop quite a bit during this phase. I usually Spineshatter at the blue golem, but it's hard to get into HT position if I've pulled agro. Should I just go directly into TT/VT/FT?
But then there are times when the BRD in my group and I end up bouncing between agro, so it's been really difficult to get any type of rotation going with this phase. Any tips are appreciated.
Usually you don't want to kill the first golem before the colour switch so there's no big race to kill it. You may want to DPS one of the tanks golems to get HT -> Impulse (or stay longer if you need to ) off then jump back to the DPS golem to finish your IDC combo. This let's the bard establish a hate lead and allows you to dps the golem properly.
Still on turn 4. It looks like my fc wont advance anytime soon. So can I get away with weathered and myth gear and unequip allagan? Since non coil content I'm doing. Is priority str>det>critical hit? For non coil content?
WD > STR > DET > CRT > SS for all content, no matter whatever it is.
Under the "Enabled" column, you put a 1 for the gear you have, or want, and a 0 for stuff you don't have, or want. You then select the accuracy requirement you want at the top, the food, click "Solve", and it highlights in green the items for the "best set". It's seriously that easy.
Yup, I get the toggling of flags part for the gear and accuracy requirement, but somehow the spreadsheet isn't compiling as expected... Maybe I'm missing out on something, gonna give it another shot later. Thanks for the reply though!
Edit: I found out what went wrong. Instead of going to data > solver > ok, I went to activate the solver add-on in options all this time lol.... Brain went full retard there. Leaving this here in case someone else miss it as well
I can't believe this worked; sometimes the game likes to punish you if you jump over AoEs...

I think the timing just nice happen to laps, since the aoe is pretty much instant. You can get hit by ground aoe with backflips, try crossing one of those in levi ex. I heard heard this is due to the fact that there's no third dimension calculations in FFXIV, which does make sense since it will make them really complicated.
Then again, I always tried them as my last resort since the feeling you get when it works out is really great haha
Thanks for the help everyone, much appreciated. It has just got me on a downer (as I have been playing drg since ps3 release and my dps is great on other fights, t5 pre-nerf and levi ex for example) that I am struggling on this fight..oh what's that raf..you have spun around just as I want to land ID? Oh right okay.
My static is going to tonight try out the tactic where the person with floral trap doesn't go in the*briar so we have more dps uptime. It does seem to be who gets it most fights.. just like TT always wanted me underneath her ;)
Some new gears, adjusted and put Accuracy back to 491 for T9. I still have yet to be informed of a miss from Flank/Rear.
Should be a decent push in time on it tonight, will update you Dervy if I see different.
i elusive jump out of binds in T8 if i get caught on the outside while running for a mine its sooo good and funny lol, i'll be like"Guys im binded i need 2... oh wait nevermind lol"
So am i wrong in assuming that the upcoming dagger class will most likely be dealing piercing dmg? If so, DRG Disembowel-support just became even sexier.
Well I just got my atma weapon. Working on the crit book for now. I wonder when next phase for the relic upgrade what stat will it have. I hope they let us add another type of stat for it.
The gun class could be piercing also, hopefully at least one of them is lol
Yea guns are usually piercing. What would be sweet is if you could equip different types of ammo for different damage type. Could just equip as a secondary like a shield, then change to blunt/piercing/elemental/etc by switching ammo. Will be interesting to see what they do.
Back on the topic of dragoon, I finally got to run T5 on dragoon last night. I've been tanking it but one of the guys we've been running with wanted to try solo tanking so I switched between smn and drg. Which leads me to ask - what is the best way for melee to handle the DKs? From what I've read they are supposed to run away as the DK drops down (in case they get stunned), then maintain DoTs on Twin while burning DKs.. It doesn't seem like there is enough time to do much to Twin between profusion and first DK, should drg just HT-Phleb on Twin > Run > IDC-Phleb the DK? Any suggestions are appreciated :D
Since you were solo-tanking, what was the group comp? When I join a solo-tank party, there's always just 1 melee (usually me, if not its because I'm healing), and I just sit at #2 in aggro and don't worry about Dreads (then become the Hatch eater...my poor DPS :( ). If you two-tank it, you have to run away whenever the Dreads pop.
I try to get at least HT, Phlem and ID on Twin before the Dread pops that first time (solo-tanking, two-tanking I'm not near Twin until after the Dread gets a target for safety, so its start from scratch there), then Dis, CT, TTT the Dread and it *should* be dead by then. Do not stun it unless its your job to do so.
Well I ran a couple times on SMN and a couple times on DRG. Party comp was PLD, SCH, WHM, BRD, BLM, DRG, SMN, then me either on SMN or DRG. We only got to DKs while I was on SMN, so I didn't get to mess with them on DRG. Yea I was #2 for most of the fight - but DKs don't target #2 either? I thought that was mainly for conflag/fireballs. Good to know!
Thanks for the tips. I don't know how many chances I'll get to run on DRG but I mainly wanted to know so I can help our regular dragoon (and because I just like to know everything possible :D)
Well t6 no briar strat was a success..was maintaining 345 every run we did last night ^.^
I got 363 on a dummy before I went in with 450 in the burst phase...was glued to Raf majority of the fight going full HAM so I don't see why my number would be inflated..in the non briar strat with minimal movement during vines (heal through it if ya want) you can keep up rotation with no breaks.
The only reason why I was doing terrible before was because i was saving cooldowns and that when I really didnt need to. If the regular rotation is kept up the whole time its all gravy
Edit: i prefer comparing stats to gear
