Yesterday, I did Main Scenario roulette for the 50 tomestones, like I often do. Got Castrum. For some reason, Cid's AI was worse than usual. He seemed to be convinced that completed objectives were not complete. Well, at least I got to hit him with a trout. Twice.

No more outright impossible runs. I can understand (still undecided on "agree with") the fear that they might drive players away if they make the ilevel restrictions "too strict", but at the same time the current ones are still a bit lax. But I'll take that over no limits. At least your tank was getting chunked to 25% and not straight to death - though I have to wonder if some of the gear may have been broken for it to be that bad. :pQuote:

Nope not at all. They never put on Defiance nor did they use CDs. They bit the dust rapidly on the first two packs.
And no matter how much my friends (who spoke the same language as them) told them to put on Defiance, and no matter how much I typed in chat the Tank stance's name (with a bit of emotes to make it look serious, kinda dumb but hey), they never put on Defiance and seemed to not pay attention to the chat.
Hence we kicked them. We got a new tank and the difference was like day and night. -

This isn't really a complaint, because first couple days of a new raid. People are still learning. I found it more funny than anything.
Final boss of the raid. The two tanks spawn. And OUR tanks apparantly didn't know what was up because the enemy tanks proceeded to aoe down half our Alliance instead of being faced away.
Also, in another run, my party died on the second boss and I got raised onto another platform. Then...something happeneed and I got pulled through a tunnel back to my correct platform. I have no idea how it happened, if I did something or if it's just an automatic thing that triggers if you're on the wrong platform, but it took me by surprise. -

Gotta love dps who prioritize cleansing themselves over me, the healer, on the final boss of grand cosmos. Someone burned one furniture too many so when the second mandatory cleansing came the monk decided to beeline straight to the chandelier I was on and stole it from me. There was ONE tiny sofa in the far opposite side of the room that I did not notice since what furniture remains varies from run to run.
It caused a wipe and the mch who kept getting hit by avoidable mechanics goes:
"SODA" (sofa he meant)
"due there was one right there"
I'm sorry the room is huge and the last remaining furniture is small? And that the monk decided to beeline straight to the chandelier I was standing in the middle of? Really wish some people would stop assuming people are perfect and are all-seeing. I probably could've made it had I'd seen it early on but I wasn't expecting to get ganked. -

I really don't like having to tank in group content, it's not that I don't want to do it, because I would gladly tank if it was really needed, it's just that there are other people much better suited for the job, and can use CDs to mitigate damage and hold aggro much better than me. Sometimes though the job just falls onto me for some reason even with much better qualified people in the group.
It also doesn't help that I'm a ranged dps. -

Been trying to beat Wanderers Minstrel Ballad: Spoiler past two days. Been a chore for the most as have to relearn coordination with a new group every other instance. Mostly everyone is understanding and competent, it's just learning and coordinating that is the roadblock.
But oh boy, just had a party with this co-healer WHM. Barely did anything but screaming bloody murder at anyone who made a mistake. Would refuse to go to their assigned spot for ice/fire tethers then would scream after about the DPS who was actually in their correct spot "expletive"ing them over. Wouldn't help me heal through the healer/tank doom around Universal Manipulation then would scream about me being a bad healer and how it's all my fault that they and a tank dies, followed by the dps because I can't get them all up enough by myself so quick. There were so many other times they bad talked people than these but this was their ones they went really hard on. Please don't be like this.. The worst thing about it is that no one really wanted to stick up for themselves or back up anyone else because that kind of person loses touch and flies off so quick and we just wanted to try for a clear... I really want to clear this because I loved this NM fight so much and the story behind it, but this one healer really killed my drive and mood by being so rude. -

Last evening, Grand Cosmos via Expert Duty Roulette. The healer and other dps were new, so during the last boss, they have no idea u r supposed to "set fire" to some furnitures, leading to their early demise. Not sure how it works in the west but at least in the Jp server, the surviving players will just give their best to the fight if it is not hopeless.... Turns out the PLD's clemency + some Second Wind is sufficient to keep 2 of us alive till we killed it. The 2 new players who waited till around 50% of the boss health, said that seems that we have no problem with the boss... and left.

So I was running The Grand Cosmos today and the healer was one of those Ultimate Legends who you see dozens of hanging around Limsa. I don't think people with that title are bad, I just notice that there's a trend that people who have that title are more likely to be jerks to other players and just be impatient in general.
The dungeon goes fine for the most part and we eventually get to the last boss and the healer told the samurai to only go to furniture with blue flames, and not with red ones, and I think that that's good at least that they're being helpful, but this is where I end up disagreeing with the healer.
The samurai ended up messing up and dropping red flames on the chandeliers, which, fair enough, honest mistake. Mistake burned up all the chandeliers and only left 2 pieces of the furniture for the tank and healer to take while inevitably me and the samurai ended up dying. Unfortunately the healer decides to get mad over this and only raises me and leaves the samurai dead for the rest of the fight even after I told them it's fine, they're new to the dungeon and to just rez them, and being on the receiving end of such treatment a few times I know it leaves a bad taste in your mouth, especially for the first run of a dungeon for the MSQ when you're really getting into being the WOL, but unfortunately they were just left dead and I finished off the boss with an LB2
Though on the bright side the pet dropped and I ended up taking it from the healer with a 91 roll. -

Really though, what is it with the DRK class and attracting bad people? It seems like the entire class is plagued by them the same way that SAM is. The edge attracts them, it's like how all the players named after Kirito or something end up eating the floor the most.
Anyway, the DRK. Loaded up into Copied Factory as a MCH and—as I've taken up the habit of doing recently—I inspect my tank. I swear to god I'm not toxic! I've just been traumatized by the duty finder and I don't trust randoms anymore to tank without killing everyone around them. Unfortunately for me, the queue times for tanks in alliance raids are ass, hence going in as MCH. Sure enough, the guy seems to be fresh out of story stuff. Wearing mostly Weathered gear, a couple Ronkan and Amaurotine parts. Not the best gear, but he's got a couple other tanks at Lv80, so this should go fine!
HAH. HOW WRONG I WAS.
I first notice a problem when one of the other alliance's tanks (a PLD with very respectable gear) pulls the first boss and our DRK immediately provokes it off them. Let the aggro wars commence, I guess? Unfortunately I don't have time to grab my popcorn because OH MY GOD THERE'S MECHANICS HAPPENING AND BOTH OUR HEALERS ARE ALREADY DEAD ON THE FLOOR, WHY. This is a trend that continues through the rest of the raid; our two healers eat AoEs and die, and the more competent half of the party follows suit because there's no one left to keep us up during raid-wides and we've got no casters as backup. We barely manage to limp through the boss without a wipe and move on to GLaDOS. DPS is super slow—probably because everyone's CONSTANTLY FREAKING DEAD BECAUSE THE HEALERS ARE DOING THEIR BEST DRAGOON IMPRESSIONS FOR HALLOWEEN—but it's passable.
Now again, I wasn't paying too much attention to the DRK at this point. I was too busy pterodactyl-screeching at the healers to not get hit by literally everything because dammit, I'm too young to get killed by even more raid-wides. Suddenly, BAM! Four DPSes dead. GLaDOS dropped the exploding tether bois on us, the tank decided not to grab them, and none of us were topped up beforehand because of aforementioned dead healers.
"Tank, can you please grab those?" A dead DNC meekly asks in party chat.
"our damage is bad anyway lol," the tank replies, probably mashing his keyboard with one hand while eating glue with the other. "u want me to die to save u?"
What? Bullshit. I know for a fact that mitigating four of those tethers at once as a tank is easy. Sure, my Gunbreaker is in full i-lvl 470, but just pop The Blackest Night and Shadow Wa—... you know what, no. I'm not gonna get stressed over this. Just focus on the fight, maybe you'll actually get a good roll on the cute little Pod minion this time!
Unfortunately for my stress levels, because of this little change, this DRK is now on my radar. So in between my Heat Blast spams, I watch him. The stress levels increase. No Salted Earth. No Blood Weapon, no Delirium, no Bloodspiller. No cooldown usage. Is that... is he using Dark Missionary off cooldown even when there's no raid-wides happening? WHY? WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS, OUR HEALERS ARE ALREADY STRUGGLING ENOUGH.
More than a little triggered, I point it out in chat. "DRK, you should save Dark Missionary for the raid-wides, not just spam it off cooldown when no damage is happening." Again, I swear I'm not toxic.
"ill take advice but ill pass on the sarcasm," he retorts. Fair point. Alright, stay cool Sapphire, don't say anything that'll make you eat a report. Just focus on getting through this. He's still using Dark Missionary off cooldown when no raid-wides are happening and he's refusing to use three quarters of his kit, but... deep breaths.
Onto the megachonker, Engels. Mostly unremarka—... okay, he's eating the tankbusters with zero mitigation, but at this point that's par for the course. He's still provoking the boss so he's MT and eating autoattacks even though our healers are stressed enough, but that isn't anything new. But then I notice him eating vuln stack after vuln stack, only surviving as long as he is because of the legendary Tank Privilege™. I think I'm starting to realize why our healers seemed to be so distracted in the previous fights.
Engels, dead. Final boss, my precious Nines! At this point, it seems like the PLD from earlier is done with our DRK's shit. "DRK, you wanna MT?" they ask exasperatedly. "sure, i can," Glue-eater replies. Oh please, you've been provoking every boss off that poor PLD throughout the entire raid. Don't play hard to get, we all know you just want us to suffer.
Now, any other people who have tanked this raid knows that Nines' tankbuster isn't anything to sneeze at, as far as normal content is concerned. This is no E4S Stonecrusher, but you still can't take it with no mitigation, because it'll do over 100k and instakill you.
Can you guess what Mister glue-eating DRK tried to do?
So he eats the tankbuster with no mitigation and instantly gets annihilated, of course. Good job, literally no one here was surprised. The PLD instantly picks up aggro and the group recovers.
"lol that did over 100k," the DRK laughs. "no way im living thru that."
NO! NO! THAT'S WHERE I DRAW THE LINE! YOU ARE REFUSING TO USE THE BARE MINIMUM TOOLS OF YOUR KIT, YOU DON'T GET TO JOKE ABOUT DYING. AND YOU DEFINITELY DON'T GET TO INSULT ALL THE DPSES IN THE PARTY FOR DYING CONSTANTLY BECAUSE THE HEALERS ARE TOO BUSY PANICKEDLY BABYSITTING YOUR DUMB OBLIVIOUS ASS TO HEAL THE REST OF US.
I swear to god I'm not toxic.
He revives. He instantly provokes the boss off the PLD, just in time to eat the next tankbuster and die. The cycle continues. We clear, I roll a 14 on the Pod. I leave the instance, injured and Pod-less. The toxicity deepens. -

Raising them would mean probably little dps gain and way more annoyance and babysitting by that healer. Not to mention, the thing I said a few posts above yours? Just had a Labyrinth of the Ancients party where I was tanking as Warrior. For whatever reason, the Healers just didn't feel like healing, so when we get to the bomb area multiple AOEs are weakening the party and I'm taking multiple hits from Vassago. I manage to tank the thing until it dies with cooldowns and Holmgang, and then I die to an AOE explosion. That's great.

Also the healer only healed with bubbles and the WHM skill that did damage and heals at the same time, not counting trash pulls, it was just a glare spamfest on their part even when everyone was 40% health. -

Pulling everything should be an old hat to them at this point. You either adjust to what your party wants or you get removed. The party wanted big pulls so the tank got the boot. It’s a tale as old as time and baby pulling tanks in expert dungeons get no sympathy from me.
Edit - For the record, I rarely ever ask baby pulling tanks to step it up or start pulling more because the confrontation is not even worth it. I don’t even try to remove these sissy tanks. I adjust to what the party wants.
But the tank in question isn’t innocent. Letting people die or wiping the group to prove a point (don’t pull for me QQ) is when I would start the vote kick. -

PLD can solo all dungeon bosses in ShB. Everyone else just makes it faster. I’m not even kidding. Party had to eat an Apocalypse to the face due to lacklustre DD (all side platforms destroyed) and healer that was new.
The healer stayed dead instead of home pointing to learn mechanics. I decided, meh, I’ll probably die soon enough....
15 minutes later, boss was dead and I’m scratching my head. -
