It's an outfit that costs IRL money. It shouldn't be rocket science that people who buy said outfit want to be able to use the entirety of that outfit, not just 80% of it. Regardless of how good outfits look on Viera/Hrothgar, they should be able to wear them, just like all the other races.

I don't even like the outfit that comes with the hat and would settle for the one that doesn't. But this ain't about me, it's about the bad precedes that SE sets, one in which they can exclude races from certain outfits and remove racial features. The hat removes Miquo'te ears as well, it's just bad quality. The hat only though cause the rest of the outfit is good, but I do not support this so I am not going to buy it.

Mostly necklaces and earrings, which can complement glamours really nicely if you pick the right ones. There are also some nice bracelets but the can be hard to work with around sleeves.

My Viera tends to use the flower earrings in coordinating colours with his outfit. It lets me add an extra splash of colour higher up on the outfit.

They're not a structurally huge part of the outfit, which it why I mentioned them only as an aside, but I still think it can make a difference to the outfit if you find the right ones that look good with it. Even the simple hoop earrings from ARR come in a few striking colour versions – the red Manderville earrings are great, and there's a cyan blue version that can look good paired with techy gear that has the same glow.

The person I was quoting isn't talking about the purchased outfits, they're claiming that 80% of "crafted, tomes, savage, and dungeons" gear is unequippable on their character.

Yeah and it's true, the vast majority of new outfits that get released have no equippable headgear for viera or hroth. The outfits are designed with the headgear in mind, people want to use the headgear. Coming into a thread where people are rightfully upset that their race is being treated as an afterthought by SE when they create new content by claiming that "Actually you can wear earrings instead" or that there are a small number of headgear that work with the race doesn't change any of that. I want to be able to use the new gear, I want to be able to wear the FULL AF gear. I want to be able to use the full dungeon gear and the full raid gear I don't want to be told "Wait until 7.0" or "Just Fantasia" for the 100th time by someone who only plays viera on alt characters.

80% of gear is not 80% of headgear.

And I did a quick mental skim of what we can and can't equip to Viera in terms of Endwalker gear, and as far as I can remember there's actually a pretty generous number of circlets and equippables.

I have a Viera. I posted pictures of him above. He's not my only character but that doesn't make his glamour less important to me, and I do recognise that it's frustrating, but saying that "we can't use 80% of what we see shown off in the live letter" is exaggeration plain and simple. 80% of what we see shown off isn't even headgear. And even if I did focus on headgear instead of getting excited over the other pieces, there would still be things to get excited about for him specifically.

The only time they are noticed are closeup face screenshots

Maybe, but we still do see close-up face screenshots during the story, and I can spend a remarkable amount of time just admiring how pretty my characters look. I still feel like it's important to have that extra bit of colour – particularly the ones where there's just small amounts of a particular colour scattered across the various pieces of the outfit and you can add one more spot of it.

I also need to get some more flashy earrings like the Edencall/Manalis feather earring.

I mean... not saying you're wrong in your complaints, but it's not like they hide the fact that the gear isn't equippable by Hroth/Viera.

yes but if someone who plays those races buys the set, theyre charged the same price, to get less out of their purchase. So its totally unfair to those customers bc they do nothing to solve this for 3.5 years

The question isn't whether it's labeled, the question is why almost 4 years into these races existing in-game are they still making items that they can't use? They have had plenty of time to figure out how to make things work for all of the races, and saying it's 2.0 spaghetti code, ps4 limitations, or whatever else is growing thin.
What are we supposed to do even if it is communicated? Drop more money on top of our subscription for a Fantasia just to not be stuck on a half finished race? Make an alt and grind for 500+ hours to get another character to where our main character is?
There's a warning but even with a warning, people have no recourse against it other than voicing their displeasure with the developers about it. Which, is the exact point of this thread.

I'm just saying that a lot of people are really framing this as if they're being misled, when that isn't the case.

Nobody is really surprised about it. Just annoyed. We expect it by now, but that doesn't mean that's how it should be.

The original idea was Hrothgar and Viera would get unique hairstyles as compromise for the lack of hats, and since they went back on that idea and we've started getting the universal hairstyles like everybody else, the hat limitation has become redundant, so....yeah, they kinda have to rethink what to do, because even if it was an intentional design choice at first, it's literally just an excuse now.

Im starting to get really really impatient due to lack of helms…I understand the reason they can’t give us helms is because of the fluffy hairs underneath and head shape but come on…even new releases? Make the hair under the caps straight or short like they do with some hairstyles on miqos for example…Its been three years and I love Viera I love their lore and how they look, I doubt Ill ever be happy enough with another race but the inability to wear helms, hats and veils is bothering me a lot at this point because I did believe come on…by the second year things should get better right?

I don’t want to sound ungrateful because we did receive extra hairstyles but honestly most of the hairs dont quite fit us…super short hair on long ears looks awfully unbalanced…can they at least let us have helms with the graphical update or something…

Because we're quickly approaching that time of the year again here are the hairstyles I've narrowed down as most likely to be included in the next base game style update for male and female Viera. There is a new question floating in the air this time involving whether or not SE will completely skip the two styles they excluded in last patch (curly hair without fringe on females and short v-cut bangs on male.) If they do skip them chances are they will never be added to this race, which is fine in my opinion because they have a lot of styles to accommodate and these two were already very similar to other styles added in the same patch. If they do skip then we are likely to be getting three of these in 6.4. They are all unisex base game styles:

As for Modern Aesthetics there's no real pattern so we just have to wait and see. Hoping for Gyr Abanian Plait and Minfilia's style.

Hrothgar on the other hand should get all of the 6.2 male Viera styles including Great Lengths and Early To Rise, as well as a few short styles that should suit them a bit better.

I think one or both of these are very likely to be included. If there is any pattern to their Modern Aesthetics additions it's "popular styles owned by a lot of players take a few priority slots every patch", and Plait and Form are two of the most popular styles in the game left to be adapted for Viera. I also suspect the Eternal Bonding styles might be high on a potential priority list because they too are owned by a large percentage of the playerbase.

Although I'm happy with my Hrothgar hair atm, I'd love to have Early to Rise for the big kitties. It's a hairstyle I could imagine works relaly nice and looks a bit less "normal human hairstyle which might look like a wig", I always cherish having more fluffy ones. :)

Nobody knows. They haven't made claims for or against headgear compatibility updates in years (long before Endwalker's announcement and before male Viera were introduced to the game.) However, after we got male Viera and will inevitably get female Hrothgar (two additions that were vehemently denied by the devs) headgear updates are certainly not outside of the realm of possibility. IMO the fact that they haven't touched the subject for a while is more likely to be a positive sign than a negative one. If they aren't saying "no" then they could eventually say "yes" once they have something concrete to show for it. If they make an announcement it will be when they've done sizeable work on the project.

This was the first liveletter for the patch which never really includes announcements of small updates. Initial liveletters are very broad and tackle the major announcements like raid series titles, MSQ and in this case Island Sanctuary, Criterion, relics and BLU all coming throughout the 6.4 cycle. We likely won't see details of whatever hairstyles are coming for Viera/Hrothgar until the preliminary patch notes, as has been the case since 6.0. The trailer and new glamours (raid gear) will be shown off in the next 6.4 liveletter closer to patch release.

I'm still hoping Y'sthola's Modish hair will be added to Viera soon

Honestly a lot more to look forward to from both base game and Modern Aesthetic style updates through 6.4-6.5 and probably beyond. Thancred's suits male Viera really well; as does the other base game (and also unisex) styles shown here.

The Thancred one has a huge 4head

Viera in general have fiveheads. You just don't notice it most of the time because hair covers it.

Doesn't help many, if not most hairstyles are rather inconsistent where the hairline is. In the case of Viera, it wouldn't surprise me the floaty ears have something to do with it

Viera actually do not have fiveheads. I've done enough comparisons between Viera and other races in unlockable hairstyles to confirm this. The height of the foreheads is identical on Viera and everybody else. There is simply the illusion that they do because their racial hairstyles have extremely low hairlines. I could give you a dozen comparisons right now that prove my point, but people are going to "lol Viera fivehead" regardless so there's really nothing further I can say.

Dont know how it is for female viera, but bunbois definitely have a bigger 4head than the other races, even the hairstyles that are kinda 4head heavy on the other races, become a 5head on male viera. But its inconsistent.
